Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Interesting here. As a replacement should we be taking a similar approach to Manly and looking at a long-term contracted player that appears to not be the first choice?
Off contract 22
SECOND-ROW

Billy Burns, Mitchell Dunn, Raymond Faitala-Mariner, Beau Fermor, Jackson Ford, Corey Harawira-Naera, Coen Hess, Tui Kamikamica, Ryan Matterson, Jack Murchie, Briton Nikora, Marata Niukore, Haumole Olakau'atu, Tariq Sims, Joe Stimson, Elliott Whitehead, Jack Williams

Also Andrew Davey was rumoured to be going to Manly. Off contract 2020 I would think if Garner heads to Manly he would be a great pick up as depth.

I think Garner moving on is a loss if we were going to use him, in saying that we didn’t this year. So makes sense letting him go, free up cash and a roster spot.

He moved sides, had to cover a side with Benji and BJ and hardly got to work with Brooks all season as Benji owned that side.

He didn’t look like someone Madge favoured this year. In and out of the team all year. Blore surely starts there next season

That Matterson guy goes ok - he would be worth looking at.

The upside to Blore is although he is young, he is a learned backrower.
He has played the position all his juniors. This year he would of got an insight to the speed and intensity required to make it in NRL so in the offseason he can build on that but as far as positional awareness goes his probably well skilled in that area.

As long as you have plenty of Kleenex.

Kinda sad to see Garner go, shows plenty of potential, just hasn't produced it consistently (sounds like someone else in a roster).
Completely understand Madge wanting to refresh the roster.. will certainly help in clearing out any of the old culture so comfortable with the decision if thats what happens.

With limited roster positions do you resign Huth or McIntyre???The Huff was very good tonight although Iam a fan of slamming Sam

Huth is on the WTs official list for players departing this year so that looks like a no for him.

There’s an official list?

List presented to those in corporate hospitality tonight

Well there you go..like mushroom the members are kept in the dark but the big end of town are feed the goss...I am I surprised..he’ll no

There was a presentation at Half Time which listed all departing players as well as listing them all on the big screens

Yes but many paid up members were not at the game

What's the deal with RTS? Articles about him maybe switching to union. Thought he was on a massive long term warriors deal.
Surely being in the NZ camp, Madge would have a crack if he was unsigned?

Wants to go back to NZ

ahk gotcha.

But Warriors are based in Australia now
So NZ needs a team of their own
Tigers can now be relocated to NZ and RTS can join the Tigers
We will even throw in the NZ coach
Its a win win win
Everyone is happy

Talking about coaches Walters confirmed as Broncos Coach what does that mean to us.
Will his son join him after the following season?
Grant where will he end up?

As others have suggested with current players available on the Market hold tight with no more signing we don't want to pay overs for dud players like have in the past.

I hope he likes Mbye
He will want to bring in a player or two of his own
I wouldn't even mind a Mbye Milford trade/loan
They are both on the outer and on similar $
Couldn't hurt to try
A change of club could do wonders for both of them

Good point Milford is an Ex fullback???
Although i hear he is quite Lazy and Madge would change that aspect of his game.

Milford has his own style unfortunately its turned out to be a turnstiles

Not officially confirmed but a few on here as well as some mainstream journos are saying it’s very likely

Milford is the exact kind of player I would hate the club to sign. We don’t need any more of these lazy, uninspiring fellas chewing up our cap.

Mbye can continue to chew it up then
In a club trade, we won't get a Addo-Carr calibre player for an Mbye calibre player
Both are on similar $
Both have a similar ability
A change of scenery for both of them could work well, and it may not
Nothing ventured nothing gained

Both players have been next to useless
But at least it would be as Bellamy says

"A like for like trade"
12 months would be fine by me as I can't see us unload Mbye any other way
Unless of course we just Liquidated him
And that would just be a loss for us with no chance of any kind of improvement

Brisbane cld be an option with Kevin there

Although not on huge $ you’d expect Billy Walters to go to Brisbane too

Don't know - they ain't the Clearys.

Brisbane being Brisbane it may place to much pressure on Kevvie & Billy who is a good all round player but not a super star to demand a place in FG

Thankfully it won't have much impact for WT'S upsides frees up cap space downside Nil been far to inconsistent

Not that we have a great deal of bargaining power but I'd love to see WT try to do a double deal with Garner and Packer with WT paying a large part of Packer's contract (50%) to free up a spot early and have extra funds available for an average value forward.

It certainly has an upside that I don't feel you are not conveying thus far, in that Milford only has one season to run and Mbye a couple more to go. I don't have a problem with Moses staying, but if a different direction is preferred, we then get the option of offering to keep Milford on if it works out, else placing the big dollars available in 2022 elsewhere to fill a void.

Yes i agree with the upside, and that's part of what I am getting at
Just dont want to write a novel to explain it
But yes much of it comes down to timing and getting Mbye off the books earlier
On top of that Milford would have 12 months to prove he is up to Nrl standard or his Carrier is over
That could work in our favour
It may fee us up of $900'000 one year earlier than expected
That is surely worth a punt on Milford

Problem is that Manly is a bit too cold for Russel's feet.

Trying to offload garner with Packet and us paying a fair bit of freight for Packer would be a great move for the club. In doing that i am prepared for the club to be stuck with Mmbye and probably Reynolds too unless a SL deal can be struck
