Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I can't imagine how difficult it would be dealing with players managers. They tell clubs what they want to hear to make them relax and then go and sign with someone else who they can squeeze a bit more from - they have no loyalty to anything except the dollar . Players are kept out of it so they don't have to lie - it must be an absolute nightmare.

Id prefer to sign no one of importance for next year and save the money for 2022, effectively write off 2021 as a 10th to last type squad, and go for JAC (yes still possible) and other gun players in 2022. Forget about Mansour, Jimmy etc. We have plenty of OK players, we need some top tier players. Origin calibre.

Unfortunately, we are a club with a very low ceiling when it comes to recruitment. I get the complaints about signing players like Mansour and Roberts, but that’s all we can do. To aim higher, we need the coach. We need a Bennett, Bellamy or Robinson. Maguire’s name doesn’t carry the same weight as those others. He’s pretty much a poor man’s version.

That makes it harder to sign players in 2022

Why will players want to come to us for 2022 when they don’t want to come here now?

I’m disappointed we’ve extended him.

After Bellamy,Bennet, who has better credentials?Panthers great roster,Broncs -last,EELS failed,Knights failed,Titans bought big no 8,Manly ,Dogs, all crashed etc.Coaches with good rostders,Siebold,Griffin etc all sacked.Considering our shit roster Madge did wonders.

pre-season starts tomorrow, wonder if we'll get a squad list and a couple signings we don't know about?

Squad list for reserve grade would be nice. We know the first grade list already and it’s not great lol

I don’t understand why people are against signing James Roberts & Josh Mansour they are quality proven first graders who have both represented NSW not that long ago & will improve our backline if fit & focused. A backline of
Mbye
Nofoaluma
Roberts
Leilua
Mansour
Douiehi
Brooks
with
Cini
Kepaoa
Talau
Momorvoski
Bradley
Reynolds
Madden
Walters
As back ups will improve our backline from last year.

Because they don't add any value to what we already have.
We would be spending cap money for nothing.

Its like going to the corner store and you have existing can of tuna at home, there is one with a use by date of today and another that's damaged do you really need to purchase more Tuna ????? Pass Pass Pass

Then you leave the existing Tuna in the can don't give it an opportunity and it goes out in the Bin (Another club) unused.

I think they are related to John West?

I rest my case with Mcintyre that has been signed by the Titans.
We really have a dysfunctional CEO.

Why is it that any good juniors that sign are kudos to Hartigan and Madge, but when it goes pear shaped it is the CEO's fault.

Serious question, who is responsible for managing the cap and drawing a line of the max value of a player in terms of what we will offer them?

The CEO manages the Cap and reports that to the board it would be one of his KPI's.

I am not giving credit either to Madge/Hartigan if they are also the let Mcintrye go, i blame all three.

So if they value him @ 200k and the titans offer 350k you just over pay. If he has been let go its because the contract offered by another team out ways his value.
Blaming people is pretty silly tbh

My guess with McIntyre and possibly Camroux is that they were offered overs to leave. Obviously, the club thought that their offer to McIntyre was fair and reasonable and didn’t want to offer more.

If you look at the Esan Marsters decision I’ll stick by the club.

There seems a lot of talk about the silly season just about to start - including contracted players.

I’m hoping something positive is not far off.

Am I reading this right, we are really worried about losing a 16yr old and a fringe first grader?

That is a little disparaging of Camroux and McIntyre. There are quite a few supporters who take an interest in the progression of our juniors and young players. Camroux is one of our own very good juniors. McIntyre was one of the few shining lights in comparison to much more highly paid players in our squad such as Leilua, J, Mbye, Packer and Reynolds.

I’d say that’s optimistic - each to their own.

Never seen cameroux so to me he’s just a 16 yr old with that dreaded potential tag.

Mcintrye is a bench player at best for a few years, not use throwing money etc at him. He’s certainly not on a pedestal. Not like his debut year was like Rudolph’s.

I believe the Club struggle to find a replacement for McIntyre. That is what I will be concerned about.

Seyfarth..?

Sure, just feel signing Mansour for several years only because we couldn't sign who we really wanted would be a bit depressing to me, then missing out on being able to buy whatever star players come available in 2022 and beyond because we signed a OK player.

McIntyre is way better than Seyfarth, way better. I can’t believe they couldn’t see the potential in McIntyre and have just let him go! They will probably let Aloiai walk as well. We can’t afford to lose good forwards like this, our pack is weak enough as it is! There had better be something positive coming our way soon.

Has there been anything further on McIntyre outside of one poster saying he’s signed with Titans?

The Pom confirmed it

Wow. Thanks, just found the post. We are absolutely amateur hour, nothing has changed.

Don't think they let him go willingly they were gazumped. The Titans deal must have appealed to McIntyre or wouldn't have signed knowing he had the deal with WTs ready to go. Managers wheeling and dealing clubs against each other- it's become a dirty game.

We need to get with the program then and play dirtier. We are getting left way behind.
