Surely were having a crack at Nicho Hynes, wants to start.
Play him 5/8, Douehi to 7. Play left and right and can play 1st and 2nd reciever for set plays when desired.

Douehi been 7 as he takes it to the line will open up plenty of space for Hynes

Hynes is not a 5/8th, his passing game is bog average & has a worse kicking game. His best position is fullback and he isn’t better than Laurie.

The question for me is
Would Laurie at 6 Doueihi at 7 and Hynes at fullback make us stronger then our current line up
IMO yes
I think Laurie Would be far more dangerous then Brooks in the halves

Hynes is fairly new to the scene but can more then hold his own and is solid
He had a good game against souths although they were down some key players
But you can't knock his performances so far

(Daine Laurie is a professional rugby league footballer who plays as a fullback or five-eighth for the Wests Tigers in the NRL. He previously played for the Penrith Panthers in the National Rugby League)

Laurie is young, possesses skill and would adapt very quickly into a regular 6

There has been way to much pressure on Brooks over the last few years I just dont know what that does to his mental state
I don't see him being able to break the shackles in the halves any time soon
A positional change or a change of club might be the best thing for him
Our club can not afford to play the nice guys
If we want to be a successful club then we need to be ruthless in selections and offloading players that don't live up to expectations
I know there are alot of Brooks supporters that will shoot me down, but you never know unless you give it a go with Laurie in the halves
Maybe give Brooks a go at Hooker
Or as a 14 super sub

WE ARE NOT WINNING GAMES SO WHAT IS THE HARM

Some great players have had positional switches in their careers
We shouldn't be afraid of that if it's not working for us

I’m not sure Laurie can play the same way Madge has instructed Brooks to play, Doueihi maybe but his more effective out wide. Maybe it could work. Prehaps Brooks needs to take up MByes spot on the bench and be the middle link player, that would give us a fair bit more depth to play a left side right side style again.
I tend to think that’s why Hastings has been signed. To play that style of halfback / lock that Madge wants Brooks/MBye to play at the moment.
Maybe Hastings can play both roles more effectively than our incumbents.

DO NOT MOVE LAURIE FROM NO 1!!!!

Agree 1000%... All you hear on commentary in games is how good Daine and Adam look in there positions and they say they will only get better..

Gotta commend the club on trying something different, the Raiders became contenders by picking up the best players in England, hopefully Hastings and Gildart bring some determination and grit.

I like this because if there is another top line player over there and we approach him it will only help us if he knows 2 other players that are coming here... Not as daunting for a guy to come over here and have no friends etc.
I will have to start watching him now.

Gildart looks like a solid footballer. Risk worth taking for us we can’t attract talent running second last and investing in youth.

Cannot believe people are wanting to tinker with Doueihi and Laurie.

Doueihi is 100% not a halfback. He is really good as a second receiver or running on edges. He's such a strong runner, why play him at halfback where his primary role would be passing wide and organising? It makes no sense. Maybe he could fill in and do it, but if you want players playing their best position why move him? He really looks at home at 5/8. Maybe he could play a role as some sort of lock and he could probably play centre too, but his position and his strengths suit 5/8 as a ball runner with a good cut out pass, a bit of guile and a great mid field bomb (which wasn't going well against the Titans). Definitely not a halfback where I think you want to have acceleration, busyness, elusiveness. Doueihi has a bit of Fittler about him with the smooth running andscheming play.

Also, a big no to moving Laurie. How can anyone consider moving a player who has barely made an error at fullback and is getting better in attack every week? In a terrible side he still looks incredible, **just wait until we actually have some momentum (if we ever get that**).

Moving either of these players weakens our greatest strengths. Find better ideas people, moving these two would throw us into even more mediocrity.

One of our halves lacks creativity
We desperately need that (creativity)to succeed
Tedesco couldn't help us when we had Moses and Brooks running the show
Laurie is now in the same boat

If true about Gildart- can he tackle?

He is a decent defender. Excellent attacker. Really good pace / balance. Reminds me a lot of a young Michael Jennings.

Probably needs 5 kilos / bulk up a bit.

Anything at this stage is worth a try, at present we are going nowhere. I would try Brooks an Madden in the halves, and AD at centre, see how they go, at half time try AD and Madden in the halves and Brooks at centre or lock .

The only place i'd LOCK Brooks is in the video review room at training and make him repeatedly watch how to dive and ankle tap a player that he is a meter away from.

Your blaming the only guy that put in the effort to chase?

Flanagan would be no better than Brooks behind our pack. We should only be looking at players who are "competitors", winners who hate to lose and play at 110% every week.
In my view we should be throwing the house at Brandon Smith, Finucane, Nathan Brown or Sua, a genuine winger and a centre. These sort of guys will lead the way and lift our up and coming young blokes with them.

We lack the clutch, hard edge back rower that pretty much all the good teams have. Same goes for the prop position.

Its our biggest issue imo.

We need a Wade Graham, Cameron Murray, Isaah Yeo, James Fisher Harris, Jason Taumalolo, Tyson Frizzell, Jared Waerea Haregreaves, Boyd Cordner Jesse Bromwhich, Dale Finucane, or Jake Trbojevic type of player.

these guys set the culture, they set the standards and they lead the way.

Our closest is Joe Ofahengaue. He is a B grade version but does lead the way.

Recruitment priority should be to strengthen this area of our squad with guys who can lead us going forward.

Is cordner off contract?
I do wonder whether we could temp him to come across and lead a young side.
Rooster may be more keen on keeping Chrichton as there is more longevity there.
But a fit cordner for a couple of seasons is something I wouldn’t think is possible therefore I didn’t even consider it.

Cordner is one head knock away from retirement.

Get Cordner to coach defence, obviously not head placement but he's pretty good at the rest of it.

It was a good chase ..
A dive for the ankle tap would’ve made it look better though.

An international who scores a try in every second game he plays, that’ll do me.

right then you can tick one centre off the list. need another, or for Talau or Kepaoa to step up. next on the list is a left winger, halfback, front rower who can actually lead the pack and a 13.

He got close ..
Close enough for a dive but not close enough for a strip then a turn and burn

Josh papaleehee managed it !

It's good to see us mix it up a bit. In the past we've gone for big name players, failed and thrown big money at duds. Now we are looking over seas and signing talented juniors instead.

I just looked at the 2018 series against the Kiwis to see how he goes. The winger, Tommy Makinson. I'd be having a go at him...

If this fails we can look at Japanese rugby players 😂

Wonder if the doggies would swap Mbye for Flanagan? He's obviously on the nose there and I assume that they still have some love for Mbye. We take over Flanagans contract and they take over Mbyes. Means we save a few bucks and both teams SORTA win.

I would not go anywhere near Flanagan.

He is already being shopped around by the Bulldogs. They're finding out quickly why the Roosters wanted him gone and it's not just related to on-field performances...

Like one of noffa’s ankle taps when he was in position to tackle?
