This is my signing suggestion for the club, it’s free. Go out any get two second rowers who absolutely harass opposition halves.

If you watch the tries we concede they are usually off a backline shift where a half or five eight goes deep into the line then calmly passes it to an overlap out wide. Watch Souths tries today. Luci and Garner are there but they don’t put pressure on or even touch the playmaker after he passes. They should be trying to break their ribs. This happens on all but one of their tries and some of the disallowed ones. It’s actually a simple fix.

Just a thought..I wonder what impact Badger has had this year..we are far less aggressive in contact and quickly lift hands to show no contact at PTB .. from my knowledge of corporate there is a strong move towards protecting brand image and I wonder whether players are being given the corporate message now , especially in the opening 20 mins..

Has done nothing in terms of discipline that’s for sure. We still lose every penalty and 6 again count

Kenny Edwards facing ban for sticking his finger up Sam Kasiano’s bum (I assume during a match). I hope this will be added to Monday’s recruitment agenda for intense discussion.

He is one of the biggest lunatics going around, my god.

Well going by another top result today and the media bash up we are getting about not been about to sign players we may as well go on a 4 week holiday as no player is going to want to come here in the near future.

Surely someone at the top has to make some calls soon before there is no quality left to even try and buy.

He’s the worst. He should have been rubbed out of the game ages ago.

He can’t even crack the worst raiders side in 5 years, hard pass :joy:

I can't see how the club can take up its club option on James Roberts for 2022. seriously. I know he's on $150k but he is lost at sea.

Hartigan and Co obviously have a system in place which value players, hence preventing the mistakes of recent past.

HOWEVER, we're not the Roosters and our recruitment valuations need to be modified to reflect where we're at as a club. We're not a destination club.

So, instead of valuing a player as a proportion of the entire cap (EG 10mil), the Tigers need to quarantine a portion of our cap for marquee Signing(s) - say $1mil.

You've got no choice but to pay overs on a few players to turn the tide - and obviously the key is choosing the right player(s) to do so.

Point is, you can still afford to pay overs provided it's part of a concerted effort to manage the entire cap.

Cleary's contract management didn't work but neither is our current approach.

Of course you have a choice not to pay overs. The club has made that choice and I applaud them for it. That’s how you build a sustainable roster.

Sustainable but probably not competitive. We need to wait 5 years to develop our own or pay overs. No ones coming here for market rate if they have another option.

No, sustainable and being competitive. Paying overs is what had put us in the current mess we are in. No more. We need to be systematically bringing on the players, that means players we want at the price we want.

Paying overs for rubbish buys was what crippled us. Easy to say in hindsight of course.

6-3 set restarts and 8-3 penalties - South's Who gets 8 penalties in a game atm?

Looking at the reality of the situation we should sign no one but younger up and coming players and keep at it. Work with pathways and junior development. If we run through 3 CEOs and 3 coaches along the way so be it. People are finally looking at the long term and we have to get used to the reality of it.

It’s where we have done well over many seasons now. Aloai, Twal, Matterson, Luciano, Monirovski, Luciano, Addo Carr, Utoikamanu, Simpkins, Douihei.

Compare that to experienced players Mbye, Reynolds, Packer, Matulino, Blair.

We have a problem recruiting experienced talent well before Madge arrived. We have to keep at the under the radar recruitment and develop.

This is clearly the plan my brother.
100%

It's going to take time but hopefully it works out.

But dont we need some experienced quality for them to learn off? Like who Packer and Tamou were supposed to be. Players like them, but better, who the kids can learn off.

Nah Sheensy is just gonna wind back the clock and start smashing deadlifts and malcolms and lead the way.

I’ll leave that to the experts with access to all the footage. But ours aren’t up to it.

13 Hectic Cheese
12 Jordan Wildman Riki
11 Shawn YouOnTheFloor Blore

Even just go for blokes who will hit someone late. I’d rather give away penalties than soft tries.

Hit them late? Try still gets scored and player in bin for 10 mins. Mmmm

Agree and we have no choice however this is a results driven business.

It's been 10 years now of no finals and if we go another 3 or 4 years like this our brand is going to be hammered and makes it even harder to keep / gain sponsors etc.. Considering how bad we have been on the field we as a club have done an excellent job with off the field activities and making money so just imagine if we are successful on the field.. we have the receipt to be a very big and successful club.

We are working hard to clean the dead wood out and players that are just happy to be paid but even removing them we need to buy the true leaders we need to create good habits and for me that starts with a guy like Dale Funicane. We have a lot of money free for next year onwards so getting a guy like this would help our brand big time.

We do have some of the best young talent and they deserve to be trained correctly and not by guys like Packer / Mbye.

I agree but I don’t see the Finucanes of the world joining the Tigers unless it’s a bad deal for the club. That’s the issue.

Its very unlikely at the moment unless it big overs.
I don't know who they can target but there would have to be a few experience players out there that we could target that will help the culture.
we are stuck between a rock and a hard place in its frustrating :man-shrugging:
