With no disrespect, what a shame we waste time with minimal/fringe contract players who are just a distraction, chew up a spot and will never be what they were or ever make it.

I’m hoping we give some of our real younger stars such as Ogden a go next year. With Nofo, tell him to go back to KOE and fix whatever it is he needs to do. Only one way to learn.

Just a shame that Covid has stopped our JF progress. Hopefully, we will see some of them next year and they haven’t been cut although I suspect everyone is still in limbo.

I believe he, among a couple of others are an ingrained problem we need to rid ourselves of.

I'd give Liam Scolari a run ahead of Nofo - there's a kid who isn't afraid of hard work and carts it up straight and hard.

Get off his case bra. Definitely been one of our best for the last few weeks. Not his fault he’s been switched between centre and wing all season. There’s a quality first grade centre in there I’m sure of it.

I have no idea , but no one in the last 2 years that’s come on the market not named Lattrell Mitchell , would have moved the needle at all, and most would have put us back a few years .

I agree with this.. He is the player that we needed. He is a top 5 player in the comp who has an impact.

The only solution to this problem to me is continuing playing moneyball with a focus on talented players. That means junior or development players like Stef, Blore and Laurie.

If we can sign players like Latrell that is awesome but we seem to struggle.

I'd be more inclined to go hard at guys like Burton.

I disagree with the 'moneyball' approach, because it hasn't worked. It won't work either.

Think about it. All the teams have a spreadsheet and some "formula" that produces one player with better stats then the rest. They go out and hire those players that they feel can get more Value out of then dollars paid.
When we get this right it means... A better then average player instead of an average. Like Matterson or Paul Momo.

SOO literally gathers the top 17 players in your state and thrashes them at another state. Without a plan the best players win. With a plan, the best plan wins.

We can't think, on a yearly basis we are going to get 'better then 16 teams' players. We just are not, Roosters, Souths, Broncos or the usual will poach them if they are very good.

We need a 3 year plan, like Manly had for 2008. Snipe 2-3 awesome players. Front load them heavily, Year 1 sucks but we have a Kalyn Ponga style player in our midst. Year 2 we look at our gaps and hire more for a 2 year contract (or longer). Year 3 we have cash to spare because of year 1!

Instead of trying to beat averages each year, we concentrate 3 years into 1. We also do a Manly and do Fortress Tigers. Fostering a player group that knows each other and wants to play for each other... See how Penrith have done...

Moneyball won't work. We need a real plan.
