What a surprise.

Can't believe that Hartigan was heralded as the Messiah when he came here from the Chooks, now he's just regarded as chicken shit.

Personally, I don't know what to believe but his reputation on this forum has certainly taken a nose dive since he has left the building.

Well hartigan did go on their podcast.

haha but tbf they know the bloke so it makes sense they have an opinion of him

I've met Adam a few times, seemed a good knowledgeable guy. Whatever Hartigan's reputation is right now, it's almost certainly not accurate to the actual ability (or lack of) of the man himself. I have literally zero knowledge of what Adam Hartigan was doing behind the scenes, but he's no dummy that's for sure.

I think it's also a mistake to equate Hartigan's employment, and then not, as being some magic trigger for signings. Whilst I think the Summer time signings have been good, I wasn't in doubt that we'd see action over this period same as we have seen for several seasons now. Nobody knows for sure if Hartigan had something or anything to do with those signings, nor do we even know if some new person like Sheens got the chequebook out to make some recruitment happen.

And most crucially - we are yet to see if these decisions pan out. I've been hopeful for historical signings that turn out to be absolute custard. Hartigan was, after all, the guy overseeing the signatures of Doueihi, Stefano, Luciano, Laurie, Blore - our best up young players and likely the core of our future side.

I think it's far more complicated than people like to boil down into simply binaries of good/bad.

He was pretty trash, tbf. No evidence, besides him failing miserably at sealing the deal often.

But you don't know how or why that came about. That might have been 100% to do with Wests Tigers or the coach, not the recruitment guy.

I'm not defending Adam Hartigan - I don't claim to know the guy well or how he went about his role. I'm just pretty sure it's not so black or white, i.e. because Latrell didn't sign but Api Koroisau did, then Hartigan must have been trash.

I'll say it again - he got Stefano on board and Stef just might be the best Tigers signing in a decade.

The rest of it is just speculation, which is fine, but let's all remember to treat it as speculation not fact.

Doueihi is out. Brooks is a good defender.

Brooks' defensive stats last year say otherwise. Most missed tackles of anyone at the club

You will find most sides halves have the most missed tackles. They get run at almost every set so the stats are always going to be high.

Brooks lacks many things, but he has always been a solid defender.

He's a solid one on one, front on tackler, yes. But he still regularly gets caught out of position which leads to him grasping at air as opponents charge through a gap.

There's more to defence than just tackling technique.

Get rid of Brooks. Hasting and Douhei are the future. If Douhei is out, replace him with a good defender.

Doueihi might not even have a future if he does his knee one more time.

Brooks is lucky to be even being mentioned. I swear to God the Freemasons must be pulling strings for him the way he has made a career out of doing sweet FA.

It must annoy you @jirskyr to offer such a reasoned and balanced and informative post like yours for someone to then offer a short, stupid, ignorant and blinkered response such as that by @TieDye.

It annoys me, on your behalf. And, I wouldn't have had the grace to reply as you did. Don't be deterred though. We need more like you and less of him/her.

TT, belittling TieDye's post in the manner you have is insensitive. Jirskyr's post was enjoyable to read and TieDye has acknowledged his effort.

Brooks' defensive stats last year say otherwise. Most missed tackles of anyone at the club

AD tackle efficiency was 83.3% and he made 309 tackles

Brooks tackle efficiency was 85.7% and made 456 tackles

Nathan Cleary and Adam Reynolds sit at 87%/90% but make alot less tackles (100+ less & played more games) and also have a hit man inside them (Yeo & Murray) to hold numbers/defensive effort.

Brooks considering what traffic comes his way due to how bad our forwards and backs are holds his own well.

Apart from the last game this year when we were ravaged by injury, sendoffs and were shocking all over the park - Brooks defensive game is usually pretty good.

People have no idea. Brooks makes over 100 more tackles than the top 4 halfbacks playing less games and is within 2% of their efficiency without a backrower or lock of the quality defensive wise inside him and peanuts for outside back beside him.

Teams don’t target Brooks. In 2021 they targeted Lucy big time. 47% of tries scored happened when they dragged Lucy infield and teams shifted down his side within 2 plays. Our centers and wingers don’t defend either. It’s clear why they target that side and it isn’t because of Brooks.
