Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Honestly, of all the ridiculous things I've ever read on this forum this one is right up there with the guy who thought Wade Graham was the answer to our problems. There is, precisely, one way for a club like the Tigers to be competitive in the NRL: it has to produce a lot of talent, and be right on the money at prioritising the right players as early as possible.

If Galvin gets to the open market there will be a queue of clubs around the block wanting to sign him and, let's be real, he's gone. And your suggestion is that the club ought to say "yeah well you've looked ok so far but we're still not sure - maybe if you gave us another seven or eight good games that might convince us"? I mean, what is going to emerge in a couple of months that isn't already screamingly obvious?
I can certainly understand that take. No massive issue with it.

On my side, after rd 8 we will have a lot more data to work with including his synergy with Luai.

What sort of money are we talking? Brooks money?

For a million bucks a year you want to make sure you’re backing a winner.

Idk. He really feels no different to to most other players we have signed that have been over the hill and beat up, who we got very little output from.

I think he is gunna be a bit disappointing… maybe they want him to be a bit of an off field mentor for the young guys …he has been a good professional over the years …that’s all I got tbh

galvin gonna be the next goat

we should give him $800K per year for next two years and $1M after that for another 3.

By mid next year people will be saying he's better for us than luai.

I’m a Galvin fan and think he’ll play origin but we have until November to wrap him up, I’d simply want to see his combination with Luai looking ok before sharpening the pencil.

I have no confidence that even if Olam is fit he’ll stay fit. I’d be very surprised if Bird’s body can handle the middle.
The 13 position was Latu’s to take.

Latu rocking up to preseason unfit the season he’s being pushed to play in the middle has unfortunately derailed that and a potential spot at 13 has been opened up for Bird or even potentially Seyfarth for the short term.

The club were looking for a veteran utility style player to come in hence Bird’s arrival. A position has now opened ip in the middle and due to his versatility he now has the ability to try make it his.

Jack Bird yet again publicly stating the intentions of him playing lock poses the question....who is earmarked for right edge? That is the most intriguing piece for me. Hopefully the most mobile middles are all spending time there on the off season and then the trials. Hopefully unearth a smokey.

it seems the last major hole after they move on Bateman … maybe Richo has something up his sleeve ?

We’ve still got the Sullivan noose around our neck. It really shows, in a competition that is starved of quality halves, just how on the nose he is that no one has any interest in the guy. Not even clubs like the Warriors who just farewelled SJ or the Rabbitohs who don’t who don’t have a halfback with any NRL experience.
