Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Keeping AD is a poor option imho,i have both criticized and defended him in the past but he is not a first grade player if we are serious about improving on the premiership ladder.Kicking 75% is not good enough to keep him
Not only would keeping Doueihi for depth a good decision, it'd likely come cheap.

If there's not much first grade interest for us around, which I doubt there would be, Doueihi in position 20 - 30 in a roster is excellent. With an average top 30 contract being nearly 400k, having him on anything from 250-350, on a season by season basis, provided he's happy to do so, is a no-brainer in my eyes.

To have Adam Doueihi as no 3/4 on halves depth, no 4/5 on centre depth, etc, on a small-medium contract in the back end of your Top 30 is good business.

We need an upgrade from Adam at left centre, it may be May, it may not be May, but I'd rather keep Adam in the squad than the likes of Tumeth, Matamua, Feledy, Faataape, Saukuru, et al.

I can envisage Doueihi being in demand.

Richardson says that the club has 'plenty of spots' in the Top 30 and on the Development List for next year, but says they're going to be very cautious and patient with who they bring in, because they want to build an elite roster.

I can see them sitting on their hands on a lot of spots until the post season to see what happens, especially after what happened with Terrell.

I like the emphasis the club placed on family and being a good person in the KPP signing press release. It's good to set the bar high for the culture Richardson and Marshall want at the club.

I like that approach as much as the next bloke, but let's be realistic. Taylan May, right now, is the antithesis of a good person, and we signed him last week.

Lol. Why?

It's a contentious issue that has involved a bunch of them, all in the past month and they're now together in camp for a week.

It 100% will be discussed behind close doors by blokes that are that tight with each other they were in each others' wedding parties.

I'd bet your house on it.
But who cares. He is ancient history.

Yes I agree with you. I have avoided mentioning that signing. Uncomfortable is the best word I can use to describe how I feel about it. After a few days I still don't feel good about it. I don't like commenting on it.

ball's in his court to make good on his chance. I sincerely hope for everyone around him that he has truly changed and will continue to change like we continue to hear.

All of the players you mention should also be leaving but that is no reason to keep Douehi

I can't understand what the trepidation with his signing is. It's not as though you are being asked to accept him as your son in law. He is just a player which ultimately will be dispensed with. In the mean time we need him to help us win games. If he does, his past will be irrelevant.

What about the 3 spots that have to be filled by June 30, hope they aren't going to be all from our lower grades.

I respect your opinion but for me his signing makes me feel uncomfortable at best.

Probably makes retaining Doueihi more important as a back-up half option that offers versatility.

Starting to look like Sullivan is the KOE #7 at this stage.

they have 4 halves in the Top 30 for next season I believe … Luai, Latu, Mase and ( for the moment) Bud … AD could fill in as well in a pinch if he is re-signed as a depth option …I agree ..i would make that call if he will accept similar money to what he is on now …

Ideally Bud gets moved on …but they might be stuck with him next year… I mean he is in Souths NRL team at the moment …so he can probably do a job as our fourth or fifth option if need be

I believe that you are able to claim players that were formerly in the 30 (Olam, Klemmer, Galvin) as being part of the 30 and therefore there isn't a pressing need to upgrade before June 30 to satisfy NRL regulations.

that said, I would anticipate that Heath Mason and Taylan May (pending his behaviour) will get an upgrade.

That isn't the reason I listed.

Doueihi is an NRL experienced, versatile backline and spine player who is more than capable of filling in at NRL level in a number of positions.

Someone like that is OBJECTIVELY good to have in the squad. He doesn't need to be in the 17 to be a good resigning.

But that's up to him.
