Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Was mentioned on here earlier this week that if he took the dragons $400k offer he had to pay IM 8% which equals $32k, if he takes Tigers deal of $350 k he pays nil commission to IM , so in the end , difference is $18k, maybe WT stumped up the extra $18k

Interesting ...

He said that he would meet with Marshall in the off-season to discuss his long-term position within the team.

“I feel as though I’m really comfortable touching the ball in the middle of the field and being involved in the big plays and so whether that’s at lock or in the halves, I feel as though that’s where my assets are best used.’’
The haters won’t like that. Happy to play lock or in the halves. So much better than that clown that went to the dogs.

Benji needs to have a long term plan for Latu and AD and it needs to be the right one if 2026 is going to be successful.

I am torn as to how we play it moving forward...

Douheis form in the halves can't be dismissed... Doggies, Manly and the Eels. He played well in all 3 when he was playing 7.

Latu is only 20, so does it better his development to play 7 right now? Or does it benefit him to play the new age 13 role for a season so he gets the ball in his hands, without the responsibility of directing a team? Get those reps up in first grade... He still has less than 20 nrl career games, so it feels like a risk going into 2026 relying on him to lead us (with Luai) to a top 8 position.

Or do we bring in a proper halves coach (has to be of johns/Cronk/Thurston calibre) for Latu to get a full pre-season under... ? But is that a risky play if Douhei is already killing in the halves?

Alot of it comes down to how Douhei finishes the year if he plays in the halves...

I'm glad I'm not the one making the decision.
If there is the slightest chance of getting in finals, play Douhie at 7, Latu has done nothing outstanding at this point

no Doobie didn't pay commission to Izzak , club didn't stump it up either,

You believe what you want to believe, but I was told by someone who I’m near certain is in a much better place to pass judgement than what you are, that it was very unlikely Doueihi would take a pay cut to re-sign with us.
Based on that information I’m assuming we have either matched the other offer, or as I’ve speculated, there could be a Wests Tigers supporter and Adam Doueihi fan who was willing to assist financially to help keep him at the club.
That’s not illegal, it’s how the 3rd party sponsorships work as far as I am aware.
If Douehi simply took a pay cut to stay with us, than that’s fantastic news, but unlikely based on my information.
Your take on TPA are incorrect.

TPAS are between player and a third party and can not be influenced or have anything to do with the club. Using a TPA as a lever to get a player to sign for less is a breach of the salary cap rules. Putting them in touch with a financial advisor etc isn't. I'm not going to say that there aren't "arrangements" made that breach the cap rules but any admission would be stupid as a club would be in breach.

Doueihi is a genuine utility who is also a good athlete with size, power, pace and a good long kicking game. The latter is a asset we've never utilised to the fullest. He also has an uncatchable high kick. From memory he was a schoolboy international rugby player.

AD re-signing and hopefully Taylan May as well, and assuming we do not re-sign any other off contract players, then I think that leaves us with only one spot left, unless we are able to shed a couple such as Sullivan.

Why cant You Vicious or myself being a 3rd party , if no club membership get involved ? as a - 3rd party

38 - 12 the Panthers' way against the Knights. The Panthers are hungry tonight. KPP has had a v/good game with a great covering tackle on the sideline on Jenkins to save a try. The Panthers have had most of the possession, so KPP has made a lot of tackles, many one on one. He's made try saving tackles on the goal line on To'o and another a minute or so ago I believe on Mclean. He put a big hit around the hips on a Panthers' forward. Luckily Jenkins scored as Liam Martin held the ball when he made a break and was tackled near the Knights' goal line. He had the centre and To'o unmarked outside of him.

I’m saying based on what I know, there is a possibility a 3rd party sponsorship deal could have been part of the deal to help get Douehi’s signature across the line.
If that is true, it’s great for Wests Tigers and our salary cap management.
Yep - the 3rd Party deal is with a clothing Manufacturer of Khoduroy Trousers. I've seen their Summer range of Khod Shorts and they are flipping fantastic! 🤪 🤪🤪
