Nothing was forced on him. I just absolutely disagree with this narrative that we took this amazing player and made him crap. He never took his own game to the next level. He just hasn't got the personality to be a top footy player. He has zero vision for what's happening in a match. Struggles to build connections with halves partners. He is just fully absorbed in his own game/performance while trying not to make mistakes.

Hayward/Hope/Latu/AD
Sione Fainu/Pole/ prop signing
Seyfarth/hunt/ which ever loser of the line above
Geyer/Roberts/Sukkar .
How anyone is saying that’s worse than this year has rocks in their heads . That’s infinitely better .
Ethan Roberts is a gun . Plays like the Butcher brothers , with a bit of Angus Chricton . He could very well be turned into a middle and be that prop .
There’s way more depth next year . KPP and Makasini will push out players like Seyfarth , Toa , Sukkar , Murray etc.
the team is way better next year even if you just simply go like for from squad players 25 and beyond . Passengers like Tumeth , Feledy and Matamua . Are now replaced by guys who can and will and have played first grade and made an impact . Roberts would have played for the chooks already if not for signing with us .

When the journo kept pressing, he was clearly trying to instigate fireworks to generate a story. Instead, Des just dead batted him. Charlie Murray while not being overly big, strong or fast, he’s hard working, a good solid defender who makes nearly all of his tackles and generally has no issue getting back to marker or in the defensive line,
In his limited game time against the Cowboys he also demonstrated he can play as a 1st receiver ball playing style of 13 very comfortable and it actually created more time and soace for Luai and our left edge to function effectively.
In addition to this he can play 9 and his service from dummy half looks decent.
I’m not saying he is anything special, but he looks capable of playing roles that are required off the bench and do them effectively.
For someone outside of our top 30 I think he’s doing well, he will get an opportunity to do a full pre season with us in the lead up to 2026 and has scope to improve quite a bit because of it.
You would like to think Heath Mason being named at 14 could spend some time at 9 giving Api a rest and he offers great utility value to cover for plenty of other positions if required.
He is still only 20 years old, he will also not be considered as part of our best 17 for 2026 at the moment, but he’s known as an extremely hard worker who I’m certain will relish the challenge of improving himself to at least put himself in contention for our top 17 and I think he will relish the opportunity to impress in likely playing positions such as 9 that he has not played previously.
Sukkar is still quite young at age 21, he will have benefited from his NRL experience this seaon and while he has not set the world on fire, he has good size and mobility for a young lad and I am seeing stronger ball carries and steady all round improvement from him. Like the other two he probably will not be considered part of our initial top 17 for 2026, but he now has a good taste of NRL, so it’s up to him to have a strong off season and improve enough to at least put himself in contention.
Royce Hunt is Royce Hunt, he will give us a strong 20mins and it’s up our other 2 bench middles to provide more minutes.
I can’t see us beating the Raiders this weekend, but I can’t be blaming our bench, they are not asking to each play very minimal game time.

Murray is a reserve grader, just like Sukkar. Neither have any kind of flair in attack.

The NRL is too competitive to carry these guys in first grade as we saw on the weekend.

I think the journo works for the Gold Coast bulletin , and is a titans fan . So he used a question about Fifita to vent his frustrations at Des , for the disarray the club is in .
For me it was pretty disingenuous to even ask the Fifita question in the first place . He clearly was looking to route the conversation to giving the club and Des a spray .
To be fair the journos have Mple outlets through social media , old media , new media like podcasts to go all in on the club.
That clearly wasn’t the forum to talk about the overall state of the club , especially disguised as a recruitment and retention question about a player , who most fans and clubs would be happy to show the door with the amount of money he’s on .

Technically Des hasn't been canned though. His contract had a clause that if they make the 8 during the time of his contract it will automatically trigger a 2 year extension. The Titans have just told him they're not offering an extension and he can see out the rest of his final year.

I hope Phoenix Godinet has the dietician and strength and conditioning coach on speed dial , as a bug few months in the gym and eating right , could allow his body to match what is mind and skill want him to do . It will happen , and when it does , there’s another gun . Same thing for Tapau Moore both need to get lifting and eating . Both have potential to kill it .
There’s a few 20-21 year olds who will grow out of Flegg and populate the KOE team , like Matai , and really strengthen around Madden , to give that team a jump .
Next year I feel the Flegg and KOE teams will be strong , and if we could stick all our juniors into 1 SGball team we would dominate that comp. Because we can’t , then who knows . But hopefully with the kids doing well in Andrew John’s and Laurie Daley , they should bode well for the next gen .
