Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I think if Tedesco goes maybe we should try and sign James Roberts and give him a go at fullback with Bird signing there he might want more money

“I’ve assured the Broncos I have no interest in talking to anyone else,” said Roberts’ uncle and manager Jeremy Donovan.

Its hard to see tedesco staying.

Obviously hes the most lethal player in our team and most of our best performances are on the back of him doing something freakish, but he rarely plays to structure. His try in round one against the rabbits is a typical tedesco try, nothing on but he manages to awkwardly tip toe through. I think if he leaves we almost need an entire restructure of the team.

Michael gordon, although not as good a player, would provide more stability in the spine and would allow us to build more of a game plan. I think if we were to target gagai it has to be centre, jamal hasnt scored any tries, hes got 1 assist, and no linebreaks or assists, the tigers play best when they attack and gagai would fit in there.

As a kiwi i have a bias towards johnson, i think he gets a pretty bum wrap, hes carried the warriors since maloney left and everytime they win its bexause of him. My only concern is we have close to the softest forward pack running around, moses and brooks always top the league for missed tackles and id be concerned that hed get targetted as much. You get frizell or paulo running at you all day youll be stuffed on attack.

Widdops a no brainer, the longer we take to sign him the higher his price tag gets.

I didnt realise gela mosby was off contract but he fits in to the tigers style 100%.

Josh reynolds wouldnt change anything at the tigers, he will do a couple big plays every few weeks and get penalised as much as the rest of the team.

I doubt well get foran or cronk so widdop will be the game changer to target.

I would be devastated if lolohea was our big signing, ive played a bit of footy with him and he doesnt have a footy brain, just a bit of flair and not much else. You put him in the spine where he gets to call the shots and we lose all direction.

If we can get a spine of 1.gordon 6.widdop/johnson 7.brooks 9.mckilwrick then we will be on track to get back towards the 8\. Our forward pack is still unfortunate especially if we lose woods. Mcqueen and matulino will add something, we're probably 1 hard running second rower off a semk decent forward pack then, could maybe use another prop but already unrealistic enough as it is

Did you ever play with/against Corey Harawira-Naera? Any views on him as a second rower?

Aparrently he is very close to ET, stays in contact with him, could be very useful in getting him here

Yeah I'd like to see where he stands with all that money going to other players now… eventually he'l have to weigh up his future financially

I don't know how many people watched the Warriors/ Raiders game last night but I thought the two were outstanding in a losing side. Gavet took the ball up with great gusto and invariable broke the first tackle while his defense was tough and committed. Could we consider giving him a second chance as he seems to have matured…..?.Ryan Hoffman is an excellent first grade footballer who makes quality contributions in attack and defense and would provide strong leadership in our side. All I'm saying is that the two really caught my eye and maybe they could be considered as useful mid range signings.....

Always liked Gavet and wish injuries had not played such a big part in the time he spent with us. Hoffman, well, would have liked him a couple of years back or even now, but on old legs so not in the future.
.

Gavet has come come out and said that the time in Australia was not great for him. Troubled by the demon drink he couldn't get it together. He sees the warriors as saving his career and life around. Doubt he would leave.

Pretty sure he was with us when we ranked poorly in player welfare. Couldn't get it together at the broncos though either, so probably more about the player than the club.

Roberts has nothing between his ears, absolutely nothing. No way you would put him in the spine. Bloke probably has to eat sandwiches with knife and fork so he doesnt bite his fingers.

Roberts has speed, and nothing else. No footwork or anything….no thanks in my opinion

**Storm Identify Replacement For Cooper Cronk**
Melbourne will attempt to bring St George Illawarra co-captain Gareth Widdop back to replace the departing Cooper Cronk, if they cannot sign in-demand star Kieran Foran.

The Storm are chasing Foran, but if they fail to sign him Widdop is next on their list, according to a smh.com.au report.

Cronk is leaving the Storm and moving to Sydney at the end of the year to be closer to his fiancee, Tara Rushton.

The Storm earmarked Foran as their first-choice replacement for Cronk, but they will be one of many clubs trying to secure his services for next season, alongside Canterbury, Newcastle and the Warriors.

They have placed Widdop, who played 70 matches for the Storm from 2010 to 2013, next on their priority list.

The report suggests Widdop is open to a return to the Storm, and has been considering it.

Whats everyones thoughts on bringing Jacob Miller back? He would have gained some experience over in the ESL.

No thanks.

From all reports hasnt shone enough over there to suggest he is NRL quality.

The ex-Tiger doing very well over there is Rob Lui. Killinh it for Salford.

Obviously there are non-football reasons why many on here wouldnt want him back.

Interesting, I haven't had a chance to see any of them play.

Neither have I, apart from the occasional highlights package.
Miller never looked like he was going to make it when he was with us.

Speaking of ESL players, it's a shame Denny Solomona quit league and went to union. I would have loved to see him come back and try his hand in NRL. He scored 40 tries in 23 games last year for Castleford.

He's only 23 so there's still time for that I guess.

Unless the money dries up in Union over in Europe I wouldn't expect to see a mercenary like Solomona back.

Well at least it wasn't a new thread about him..well done..

Gaining experience would do him much good unless he gained skill, playmaking ability, a kicking game and any of the other qualities he had zero of when he got his chance with us years ago.
What's Moltz doing these days. Get him and Benj back, the old firm…......John Cronk even.
