Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

So James O'Connor has given up on the wallabies and is now playing with the Sale Sharks…

seriously, we have the money, he can kick goals from anywhere and he'd be an amazing strike centre who can cover 1 through to 5 with ease.

He's price would be low too.

Don't know if he would cut it in league, he may, but he would generate huge publicity, good for sponsors.

Something the club should definitely look at. Thought he was older but only 27.

Yeah, why not, haven't given a decent rah rah back a shot for a while.

If correct, in most cases this is what successful clubs pay emerging talent. Value for money.

Apparently this is the cap management that the Roosters use, their stars get top dollar while their up and coming players get a small salary.
Their cap manager stated that if you pay your average players big money they think that they are stars, and don't have to improve.
If you pay them basic salary they work their butts off to get a big contract.
That's why players like Watson was on a small salary, and they would have a lot more players on the same as Watson.
Don't forget the brown paper bags!

"Their cap manager stated that if you pay your average players big money they think that they are stars, and don't have to improve."

Bingo. We spoilt Tedesco, Moses and Brooks because we wanted to keep our spine… Hence we got a crap spine.

they werent that crap.. woods, moses and tedesco have probably been our best player for the last 2-3 years.

I agree that they have been our best players for the last 3 years.
I am saying that in wanting to preserve the spine of "Teddy, Moses and Brooks" we stuffed ourselves. We spoilt them. (or at least we spoilt Moses and Brooks, both on 500k I understand).

Had we got them on 120K contracts and waited till the proved themselves. They may have stayed and earned their spot.

We were forced into paying them crazy money because other clubs were also willing to pay silly money all based on hype built up from their junior days

Isn't he still a massive bellend, hence why he isn't playing for the Wallabies or a Super Rugby team?

Personally I don't think he has the drive or will to succeed as a league convert. We haven't had any luck with previous attempts and I couldn't see O'Connor being any different.

TAB have us last in the betting at 50-1

Which is fairly short for a side they think is the worst in the comp .
I backed us at 66-1 to win in 2005 mid way thru the season .

We don't have any big names next year, however our mid to low end players are very strong.
I think we'll surprise a few next year, especially well the season starts to take its toll on a few teams. The overall quality and depth of our squad will see us going hard for 80 minutes every game.

Burn out factor will be a issue next year. With the World Cup being played after the GF a lot of teams who have plenty of rep players will have a disrupted preseason and those players will feel the pinch by mid season 2018\. We should be in a pretty good position, although gelling so many new players into a cohesive unit will not be a easy task

Aren't our big names Packer and Reynolds?
