Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Not much quality out there, in all honesty Konrad Hurell would be a good signing if the coast release him also liked the aggression from Hipgrave on the weekend.

Cleary has already stated his strategy to turn over the roster in 2-3 years. The vast majority will be players signed for 2020 and 2021 seasons onwards.

The way I see it is we will finish 9-11th this year, top 8 in 2019 and challenge for the premiership 2020 onwards for a decade.

We need the COE to be built and build our memberships and off field revenue. To a point where we attract talent. Most coaches with this roster would be running bottom 4.

Sounds like a plan, best one I have seen in a while, hope it works

Problem is most coaches won’t get the time to see this out. Hopefully we roll with Cleary and don’t panic. WT have invested in pathways heavily so we need most of our players coming from within with only a few recruits.

Hopefully Cleary rolls with us too and doesn't leave for a club like the roosters

Here is a list of players that are no names with potential
There is good players with skill if do the homework on them

1.Scott Drinkwater can cover half/ 5/8,Fullback plays for Sunshine Coast but is tied to Melb Storm
2\. Jake Turpin hooker Broncos only signed for 1 year with them out of Melb storm NYC
3.Tom Opacic CENTRE Broncos
4\. William Kennedy wing/Fullback plays for Newtown but is tied this year to Cronulla
very quick, but needs at 5-8 kgs to be added onto his frame.
5\. Jack Johns can cover half/5/8 lock newcastle knights
6.Simon Mannering need the experince
7.Sam Hoare prop -north qld
8.Kyle Laybutt, 5/8 cowboys

Honestly I don't think we're ever gonna get anywhere with the squads we assemble. I know give it time, new culture, re-building phase blah, blah, blah. Same story trotted out every year, sick of hearing it!

We will always just be making up the numbers on the field. If there's any compensation we're one of the best clubs off the field though, with regards to promoting charities and community stuff and whatever. Maybe that's our true calling, we should just become a charity!

We are. For NRL teams looking for 2 points

Or for players who can't make 1st grade

Save that. You can post it every season just by updating the years

That's what I was thinking :frowning:

Surely you would want to play under Cleary than Arthur..I don't understand it..

Ferguson , Hayne , Moses , Norman …
There is a pattern emerging ...

Even so ...:brick:

Yeah, they certainly are putting together a tremendous team of knobs.

But even the knobs don't like us.

Isn't that why we never sign any Manly players!

Lol. We will jag the odd premiership every 30 years or so. And the odd 50+ win I hope.

Hope not. I have more faith in the club currently probably since Sheens was appointed. We have been a basket case on and off the field since 2013 something long term has to be put in place not just buying a team to win now but setting up long term success. Panthers are probably the best example.

I had faith when Potter was here and Moses, Brooks and Tedesco looked likethe next big things.
I see nothing at the club at the moment.

We are not challenging for a premiership anytime soon but this side is outperforming the rabble we had with Woods, Teddy, Moses and Brooks for the last 3 years.

The next two off seasons are the biggest in the clubs history since Sheens was appointed in 2004\. Sheens set the club up well for close to a decade for our standards we we’re never far away from finals. I’m hoping Cleary can do the same with us he has history in getting the job done.

The left field play is the Gus / Griffin feud sees Grffin leaving and Gus saying how wrong he was about Ivan and how much he would love him back at Penriff to coach his son to GF win.

It didn't work out well but at tbut e time it looked promising. Young blokes that looked like they had the world at their feet. We've got no one like that now.
Solid first graders is the best we got. I don't see where the optimism comes from except blind faith.
