Bulldogs have worst recruitment than us. Signed a bunch of guys on massive overs

I disagree,

We have a pretty bad hangover from recruitment ourselves

Here are some players that haven't lived up to the hype or the contact value

Mbye
JRey
McQueen
Mats - (worked out ok)
Jennings.

Jury is out on BJ.... Early days

Any else I've missed?

Obviously Packer for most and I would add Farah to the list, though only because of the $670k fine with that criteria.

Was I losing my mind last night when I heard Matty Johns mention something about Foran to the WT's

God i hope we arent looking at Foran. I will loose so much faith in Madge if we sign him. Surely we've seen the effects of signing overpriced bulldogs rejects. This needs to be a strategic move to completly go in a different path. The dogs and dragons are going to have some serious coin to spend and will be a huge competion in us signing talented youth. Let's not help them by freeing up Forans contract.

On Saab, looking like he will be at the dogs IF released but it is really up in the air. Major cash being thrown at a some players by them.

On another note, most Sydney clubs have been in discussions to resume playing informal (non-Canterbury Cup) reserve grade games against one another to keep players fit. Will need clearance from the NRL.

Why would the dogs have more cash than us? Unless they're offering 500k then we can match what they can.
They don't have much cash having already splurged on Thompson. And Dwz, hopoate already on big money and no halves. And who knows who their coach will be. A lot of risk.

On the other hand we're a perennially unsuccessful side. What do we have to offer him? Compete without his material for a spot? Does he want to take Tommy's spot? From memory Saab is a right winger in any case, and while nof is replaceable he's doing well enough not to get dropped ahead of others at the moment.

The Dogs have 3m this year Foran was signed on 1m per season which is unbelievable but true. They stop paying Mbye this year also.
They lost CHN and Okunbur and they have Mariner, Elliot, Sue, Tolman all off contract.

They are going big game hunting we need to stay away from this as our last haul was Grub, Mbye, Packer, Matulino and McQueen.

The Dogs are gonna stuff it. They need spine players, but there aren't that many good ones going around. Like you said, it's us in 2018 all over again.

I'd go after Adam Elliot. Talented player, a bit under the radar. Mariner is a shot in the dark too. Don't know what market there will be for Sue.

Mariner yes - the others, put a line through them.

Why do you assume he would be on big money? I would argue he wouldn’t cost much at all. Considering he’s off contract, had a lot of injuries and not many clubs are rushing to sign the bloke we could probably pick him up for pretty cheap. At the right price he’s a good signing but I’d wait and see how he goes this year injury wise.

Rehashed .....

Apparently the ‘player bubble’ at the NRL clubs has increased to 36 players so all our development guys will be back at training.

Someone quoted his contract at being 1.2 a year (could be slightly less), so if true he's not going play for peanuts. My opinion is that we shouldn't even be looking at someone like him. Why do we want another injury prone retirement plan. We have players like Marshall if we want experience. Brooks has been around for long enough too so id rather take a chance on a young up and comer and make a proper team for the future. I just don't think Foran will help us win a premiership regardless of whether he's cheap or expensive.

1.2 million would be like the highest paying contract in the NRL. He’s on a lot of money but it’s not over a million a season. If he has no options but to take a cheaper contract then he would probably do it.

Our spine for next year will be a very young hooker, a very young fullback, Brooks and our 5/8. We could really use experience in that position, Benji is past it and if we can offload Reynolds and sign Foran at a cheaper price it’s probably a good option, Foran still plays pretty decent for the bulldogs.

Not many good halves available either, like you said we could take a risk on a kid but when the rest of your team is already full of young kids bringing in experience seems a good idea. Some other halves may become available before next year anyway.

I don’t expect Madge to be making many signings for next year for a while. Seems very focused on the current season.

Burton would be the only 6 to look at if you want to take a gamble on youth. As Geo has said before Munster would be ideal though if we could grab him

I think I will take a punt on JREY still being with us next year,he is working well with Brooks and his game is becoming more dynamic with Grub in the team...just my opinion Im not Madge, but he has made some decisions we didn't expect from him eg Benji relegated to bench,McIntyre into 17 and generally getting the team to make their defense a priority rather than hail mary attack that we have been used to..
Whatever Madge decides for this team I bet it will be for their benefit for a competitive future getting to be top finals prospects, playing for 80 and being consistent week in week out..

I honestly don't know what plans he has for Walters and Madden, but Im sure Madge will give them an opportunity to show their worth....

Benji never has and never will be a game manager, Foran is lightyears a head in that department, and Foran would not be signed on big dollars if he came, if Foran could get a run of games together he would be worth the risk

Munster is quiet looked past for how gettable he is imo, I think it’s becoming clear that the dominance Melbourne Storm have had for well over a decade now is slowly coming to an end

Bellamy and Smith most likely to be gone within the next year, don’t forget about JAC and Vunivalu who will be leaving as well, Bromwich 32 next year and off contract too

Brooks and Munster as a combination would be absolutely lethal, the only other teams I could see being able to sign him would be us, dragons, bulldogs and titans due to the salary cap and already having there halves combination sorted etc - safe to say we’re a chance and worth putting in an offer

I think a big part of it will be if Josh can find a contract elsewhere (ESL probably only bet?). If not, we may as well make use of him, if he can find a gig elsewhere, great, we have a lot of cash to spend and a new player to find.

Some of them were not all of them - we had 30 first graders training so only 2 development players could train as well which I believe were Hoffman and Simpkin. I’ve noticed Bradley back in the training photos now so I think they’re all back
