Stay safe all Queensland residents

We're ok just now. Have my son and his girlfriend staying.

Wind is really starting to pick up now. Been raining heavily, back yard starting to look like a swimming pool. They're saying it is just about on top of Yeppoon now. Heard the police are locking down the cyclone shelter.

Predicting that it is about 2 hours from Rocky (I'm north rocky).

The son and I have setup stuff downstairs. We have an emergency plan. Phones are charged, torches ready, radio ready. Water bottles full, canned food. Car keys on us because 2 cars parked under house - first option stay in car listen to car radio covered in blankets. If it really turns to crap we have put a mattress in downstairs toilet where 4 of us and the dog can huddle together.

Anyway, we have planned for the worst but are hoping for the best.

I am usually on the forum getting updates from games. Now I'm giving updates. Who'da thunk it?

Happy, just heard Marcia slowing down again.

I don't like that at all

Not unusual mate , they tend to do that because they lose power without water feeding it

You might dodge some bullets Happy… It is starting to track west?

If anything it is slightly moved closer to us It was tracking directly at Biloela / Moura at Cat 2 level , now it is approximately 50 kms closer

Hope your family around Moura region are safe Watto

Stay safe Lads,

To give people the sheer scope of things right now.

Gold Coast is 617kms from Gladstone by car according to Google maps.

and we are starting to feel the effects of it down here with rain and wind - Thats further in distance than Sydney to Albury to give it some perspective. 😱pen_mouth:

God only knows how you lads are doing. I know the WTF is probably low on the list of priorities, but at the very least check in an like a few posts to let us all know you are still ok.

Stay safe the lot of you and we can all have a laugh and beer about it in Brisbane come the Broncos game later this year.

Nothing here FT. We're in the clear. It has rained lightly but solidly all night but no wind other than some gusts yesterday arvo.

Keep giving us updates CQ & Happy and don't go out to play in the rain.

Park Avenue mate. Not normally a flood area but this is not normal.
I'm not going anywhere, it's too late anyway the winds are really blowing now and to think that the strongest winds are a couple of hours away.

We are OK everyone. Thank you for your thoughts

If you were just watching Channel 7 , ignore what you just saw

Not everyone is such a bunch of noodles as those seen in the live cross

My bad .

Up near the new bridge , thought it was near the old bridge

At least I knew it was near a bridge :unamused:

Update

We have just lost all power

Winds still strong - last reports about 120 kph, expecting to more than double.

A lot of branches off trees now in the 'hood.

Marcia still a couple hrs away from Rocky. Fingers crossed

And you would barely know that a cyclone was approaching Gladstone , the wind has picked up a bit and the rain has increased a bit

As you may have heard a town in Qld near Gayndah was hit by a 5.2 earthquake earlier this week will now probably get hit by a cyclone at Cat 1 level

Can't be too many places that can make that claim
