Exactly. Also from his point of view it makes no sense for him to resign now. He’s clearly backing himself to have another breakout year and enhance his credentials even further. And that just benefits us.

Now if we don’t end up being the club he signs his next contract with then it is absolutely the right time to melt down.

Stefano doesn't really owe anything to Wests Tigers tbh. Yes we gave him a shot last year but he would've been in the top 4 props at Parra last year anyway.

I wouldn't say that he needs to have any loyalty towards us or anything like that. Simply, he only stays if we offer more $$, he likes Madge and the playing group and doesn't want to be at 3 different clubs in 5 years of NRL

Agree. Not sure where the loyalty part that some are going on about is relevant. It’s not like we developed him from a young age. We plucked him out of another clubs system, and if we hadn’t someone else would have.

He has zero responsibility to rush and sign a contract when he has one for another 2yrs. He is the best young prop in the game. His value will sky rocket if he plays better than he did last year for the full season.

I love it but I'm pretty sure it is only a replica.

Having said that, it's not an item that I have really seen too many of around the place, or any others actually.

Was given to me by my niece who found it in a junk shop somewhere and snapped it up immediately knowing that it would be a treasure to someone like me.

Fortunately for me, she is a Manly supporter and her husband is a slimy Eels supporter which meant that it was always destined to be mine.

This reminds me of the old saying that, "you can pick your friends but you can't pick your family." (just joking of course)

I agree with both you guys.
Would you consider a deal for Stef similar to Jason Taumalolo $1m starting at 5+yrs.
The way the dollar deflates and salary cap increases as well as the price of marque players increase, $1m wouldn't seem so severe in 4 years time.

Don't we have jacuzzi penthouse apartments atop the new COE? Stanmore, Summer Hill, Leichhardt, Drummoyne, Balmain. It seems to me we have the Eastern Suburbs covered. I'm sure Stefano is family orientated so a move to Melbourne may not be appealing.

I don't think the Roosters, Storm or Broncos are as big a threat as everyone believes them to be.
The chooks have Lindsay Collins locked away until 2026. He is the pack leader they will look for supplementary players to build around him. Likewise for the storm Welch has just re-committed for a decent fee, and if I were a betting man, I'd say Payne will get locked down by the broncs for a huge contract at some stage this year.
I'm not saying you can't have two high class props, but I do think that it's hard to have 2 high paid props and a balanced roster.
Stef will be our A1 prop, and I assume our offer matches that role.
When you look around the league the list of teams that are missing a spearhead prop is pretty short. I would say they include; the dragons, sharks, sea eagles and souths.
I think those are the teams that would/should be making big offers to someone like Stef.
Obviously me opinion means nothing, just offering a different perspective on the situation. I honestly think there is a low chance the tigers let him go.
