Tedesco Thread || He's staying!

For it to go on this long shows we are struggling to keep him. I'm happy fo this to keep going if we end up making the signing ….... but if he's asking a price we simply can't afford we may as well bite the bullet.

Sorry Newtown but I have to disagree.
I think it's probable that WT management have told us everything they can about this matter, I.E. 'We hope he re-signs with us and we're working on it'. Anything else could be a breach of confidentiality and potentially damage our chances in re-signing him. The only thing they could be sitting on is, if he has already re-signed and they are waiting till he is match fit for the announcement, (which I personally believe would be a wise move). In which case, Yay Christmas is coming.
I don't understand the drama. The young bloke is not greedy. He is a professional sportsman in a high risk sport. He knows he could be could have a career ending injury at any time! Give him the respect he deserves for that and the time he needs to make the decision. I love watching him play but he doesn't owe me anything just because I'm an avid Tigers supporter and for that matter, neither does Tigers Mgmt.

this has gone on too long, either the kid wants to stay for a reasonable amount of money, or he is a greedy so and so, either stay or go but Mayer get this sorted sooner rather than later.

Maybe he's signed it but they haven't gone public yet?

I don't care so much about the general public but I believe that Wests Tigers Management owe it to their fans to tell them immediately;
1.What is happening with the Tedesco signing? and
2\. What is the situation with the Salary Cap.

The manner in which Wests Tigers Management is handling the above two issues is totally unprofessional and disrespectful to WT fans. This is attested by the 63 pages of concerns from over 1200 posts associated with this subject matter. Management's weak negotiation practices is highlighted by the case of Benji's Marshall's transfer to Dragons where the asking transfer price has been reduced from a lump sum of $200k to three instalments of $50K. Why can't a great club like Dragons pay a $200k transfer in lump sum instead of instalments over who knows a long period?

Since when does any club come out and publicly comment on contract negotiations?

How do we know the club isn't trying to offload a player or 2 before they can offer a final contract and Tedesco is prepared to wait, hence the hold up?

It seems a lot of assumptions are being made based on very little evidence.

AFTER losing sensation Anthony Milford to Brisbane, Canberra have now targeted exciting Wests Tigers fullback James Tedesco.

And if the Raiders miss Tedesco, The Daily Telegraph can reveal the club will focus on rising Manly fullback Clint Gutherson.

Tedesco is off contract with Wests Tigers after this season and is looking for a contract worth about $500,000 a season.

The Raiders have officially made contact with Tedesco’s manager Sam Ayoub.

The Daily Telegraph understands Tedesco’s first choice would be to remain at Wests Tigers — but can they afford him?

By retaining Tedesco, Wests Tigers would then have a long and impressive list of rookies signed up and ready to take the club into a bright new future.

However, Wests Tigers are aware it will cost some decent cash to keep Tedesco. And if they cannot find it, Tedesco just may be forced elsewhere — possibly to Canberra.

Raiders chief executive Don Furner was unavailable for comment yesterday but Tedesco does see Canberra as a genuine option.

Gutherson is another to catch the eye of Ricky Stuart. He is certainly a player on the rise at Brookvale. Gutherson, currently playing NSW Cup, has signed with Manly until the end of 2015 but does sit behind Brett Stewart.

Gutherson’s asking price may be half what Tedesco is seeking.

Wests Tigers chief executive Grant Mayer remains confident Tedesco will remain at Concord.

Negotiations between Wests Tigers and Tedesco have dragged for a while but that isn’t cause for concern among fans.

Mayer said recently: “James is hot property, I get that.”

After bugger all games in the NRL, he's asking for what? 500K per season??? I'm sorry, but that's just plain greed at this stage of his fledgling career.

If tedesco wants to ruin his career under Ricky I say let him go . He's not worth 500k … I'd rather see Simona in the number 1 jersey !

If he wants that kind of cash see you later buddy prove yourself over a couple seasons free of injury and then the tigers can decide what your worth .

I've got to admit i am slightly worried we haven't wrapped Teddy up yet. What i'm hoping though is that his manager is still doing all the work, hence the delay, hence the Raiders being talked about. The key will be when Teddy is forced to choose between the two. One will obviously contain more money. The other will contain a better chance of James achieving his goals. I know which one i'd be taking.

I see Canberra are now linked to James Tedesco..

I for one, am over all this speculation and innuendo concerning Tedesco’s next contract!!. and by reading on it is very apparent how I feel.

Teddy is a player of great promise. He has been an NRL player since 2012 when he made his debut against Cronulla in round 1.

Since his debut in 2012, he has spent 14 months (12+2) on the sideline injured. He has played around 25 games out of a possible 65 games…That’s less than 50% availability.

Teddy started 2014 in a blaze of glory in the 9’s and the NRL during the first 5 rounds. Then bang he gets injured again and is out for the next 8/9 weeks.

During this injury riddled period the WT have no doubt been very supportive of James.

We all know Tedesco is off contract at the end of 2014 and since the matter became headlines James has been linked to the Bulldogs, Roosters and now the Raiders.

Tedesco has stated he wants to remain a Tiger. Mayer has made it clear the WT want to sign James long term, his peers have openly stated they want to play alongside Teddy...I then fail to understand why a contract has not been signed!!.

The papers are reporting Teddy and his Manager want $500k per season.

If this is true, I ask Teddy on what grounds does he justify commanding this amount?..seasoned players in the team such as Anasta, Galloway, Fulton, Richards, Thompson and even Lawrence are NOT on $500k per year contract, yet they are long standing players in the NRL who have an established career. Of the up and comers(which teddy is one of them) in the team Simona, Nofo, Brooks and Mosses, Sirro I am almost certain none of them would be on $500k p.a. contracts...Sirro and Brooks maybe the high 3’s or low 4’s...

I am sure Mayer has offered Teddy a long term, very competitively priced contract, which has obviously been rejected!.

Tedesco is a player of great potential, not proven ability or achievements. The reality is Tedesco is not a $500k p.a. player!...The biggest question mark on Tedesco is how robust he is...and I’m sure that question hangs over the Mayer & the WT in their offer.

Tedesco and his Manager should end this innuendo and speculation right now and announce their intentions!...the fans, club, WT players and sponsors of the WT deserve better from Ayoub and Tedesco..!!!!. get over it Teddy and Ayoub! 62 page threads should be enough for your egos!....make your decision!! or Mayer should make a public statement on where the WT are at with him...we all want to move on!

That's it Buzz , if it isn't interesting enough we'll just fudge the figures

Let me guess the 500 k is a typo hey ??

Funny that this has been going on for at least 2 weeks and it gets released the day before we play Buzz's boys and they change the story to create havoc

THE RAIDERS HAVE OFFERED 500 k , TEDESCO HAS NOT ASKED FOR 500 k FROM THE TIGERS

I'm outraged!!!!! I mean, how many weeks has this gone on for?? How dare James consider offers from other clubs? The young upstart. I'm a long-standing Tigers supporter and he hasn't even considered my feelings about this. He hasn't phoned me once to ask my opinion. $500,000???

What a pack of vultures!

Let the poor bloke consider his future and sign a contract in his best interest.

In 2013 Tedesco played 25 games in total. 2 NSW cup games 1 City/Country game 19 NRL games and 3 Internationals for Italy Plus not to mention was also Wests Tigers rookie of the year.

Sirro has also played 25 NRL games same as Tedesco.
2012 - 6 games. 2013 - 19 games. 2014 - 0 games

How did our two best ever players do in their first few years at Wests Tigers

Farah: 2003 - 4 games.
2004 - 3 games.
2005 - 27 games
Marshall: 2003 - 4 games.
2004 - 7 games.
2005 - 27 games

Tedesco is a local junior who will play for NSW and Australia one day and obviously other clubs are willing to pay for what he can deliver next year and the years after that.

I am sorry you are sick of it…I am sure Tedesco is sick of it as well. No doubt Mayer has offered him a contract..and if it was competitive he would have taken it because all I have ever heard him say is that he wants to stay.

We haven't recruited anyone and we have offloaded players so there should be money there but it appears the Wests Tigers don't want to or somehow are not in a financial position to match offers from other clubs.

I would hate to see him go but I would still support him at another club just like I will Benji when he turns out for St. George today.

I don't know how you would price him. He has so much potential but so little experience?. He has proven at this stage he can be great but also very injury prone. What term is he looking for to long and injury prone the clubs in trouble, to short and is brilliant the club will be paying way overs to re-sign him.

I think there has to be a lot of consideration from both parties hence the delay. I'm confident he will stay.Mayer is a smart man, my only concern is that smart does not always work when dealing with the likes of Ayoub.

I'm with you Bones.

No club makes their cap public, apart from general comments if they have room or not.

And how would the Tigers look if Dragons made an offer near what we asked, but we knocked it back because it was split payments, despite saying all along we were eager to work with Drags to get a resolution?

Everyone wins, coz we also don't have to pay Benchy that small retainer anymore.

If we do lose teddy we should attempt to sign karmichael hunt or another capable fullback. I don't think Rowe can be a permanent option.
