The Cambo Curse

In the old days of Reschs cans and the old hill of Orana Park teams hated coming to Campbelltown. it was either a dustbowl or a quagmire. sure they might put 50 on us but ocassionally we ambushed them. there was no hiding as an opposition player you could hear the comical abuse from the faithful. Wests were Campbelltown, they lived, trained and drank at the bradbury and the court. The locals supported them even if they followed the dogs or souths or eels. now they blow in 4 times a year and expect to fill the ground. Until tigers commit 100% to the area they will not be successful. they will not keep the galvins or TDS until kids grow up following a local team. at least 6 or 7 games a year at Orana and 4 at LO.

Newtown Jets fan eh? Because that was their time too.

You cannot have a homeground advantage at grounds other teams regularly play at.

Homebush would mean that we have no advantage over the Dogs or Souths. Same as there is no advantage in playing Parramatta at our home ground Commbank stadium
Don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade, nor do I like using Melbourne as an example, but in Bleak City there are now only 3 grounds. MCG, Marvel and Geelong and all games in Melbourne are played there.
It hasn’t changed the loyalty of the fans one bit and ensures good crowds coz of a) facilities and b) access by public transport.
Now tell me if we couldn’t utilise Accor, Commbank, Allianz and Penrith the same way. And it wouldn’t necessarily mean Penrith got added advantages coz any games likely to draw more than their stadium capacity would immediately be transferred to a bigger stadium ie Accor or Commbank.
It’s neat and clean and once everyone gets over the “tribal” bullshit it works.
Just an idea.

Sounds like they all have no other choice

Sometimes it’s just easier to blame a ground, or the weather, or the day of the week, or anything else that should have zero impact on the performance of a professional sports team. Could be the height of cut on the grass maybe?
Hey @GNR4LIFE...just wondering why you deleted your post that Sco77y replied to here, as both posts are well worth reading.

Not only is Cambo cursed, we also have the three-in-a-row curse to contend with. We haven't done that since 2018, and we've only done it one more time if you extend it to 2015. Truly dreadful reading. Surely now is the time to break both of these curses.
This side is way better than any of the scratch rabble teams since 2005. And that includes the Ellis years and the odd Benji Farah combo. We will be in the 8 all season if we stay healthy.

You can't blame CCS for losses, the team ain't good enough to play NRL standard football at any stadium, most good teams can win anywhere because they have HEART ,something lacking in our SQUAD..changes can't come quick enough for me 25 years and still HOPING.
Maybe I got a bit carried away when making this thread. I went for some shock factor.

You are completely right. Losing because it's at Cambo is just an excuse. Fortunately we have a squad now that can compete with anyone.

Heart is something that is now in the tigers DNA. Every game in the NRL is a battle, and we are battle ready.

Bring on Newcastle.

There is something about cambo though. I remember we played the Broncos there and none of the kids could care less about our players, they only wanted to see Reece Walsh.

Never look beyond your next game and it is amazing how often you get on a winning run,i am sure Benji is emphasising one game at a time to the entire squad because anything else is a distraction.
Players are using the same terminolgy as Benji. We flushed that game and are focussed on this weekend! You know you have cracked the team when the team starts sounding like the coach. They have bought into what Benji is selling.

Love the “express myself” one.

We need to express ourselves on Sunday.

I never hear the players talk about Campbelltown. Just Leichhardt.

The club needs to look at ways to make an atmosphere there and make it an event, the way Leichhardt is seen.

The 8th and 9th wonders of the world need equal representation.
