The club deserves the Spoon

You pathetic merkins should just depart the forum, so, we lost to the defending Premiers by 2 points at their home ground, give it away if you can't be positive about our club.

We didn't lose to the team that won the GF. Their best players were out,
we had two players out. But according to some here, they are crap players anyway , so we couldn't have missed them. Could we??
From reading some posts , we should've played better without them.
And didn't we have a safe lead, with only a few minutes to go.
At least last night we didn't have a try put on us in the five minutes before the break
So that's something.

That's really what upsets people.

How many tries does our team let in just before half time and just before fulltime? That's what does my head in.

The other pain in my side is that Woods and Tedesco come back in and it makes no difference at all - we still lose.

But like a true moron, I'll still be around supporting them. Just don't tell me that I can't have my two bobs worth of truth telling.

The truth is not popular at most times here.

The club looks set to collect the spoon it has been working hard towards ever since Sheens was re-signed for the last time.
I had high hopes for this season. I was convinced we'd break our finals drought. It is devastating that it has been sabotaged by the politics of the board and administration pushing out a club legend, then sacking the head coach, a player busted in dodgy betting allagations and three high profile players holding the club to ransom for half a year before all ditching it very publically. Im furious at these people. They deserve the bloody spoon shoved down their throats.
A lot of the players are trying. The problem is that wont matter when others have checked out. Some of the players out there tonight deserve the spoon. The majority do not.

Good post. The actions of some of the people currently at the club and some who have left has been disgraceful.

Most of the guys here though don't deserve the spoon.

The club has been building towards this for years. Not through board politics, Farah, JT, Simona or anyone else.

It was the terrible decisions that were made that by previous administrators whose legacy has led to a crisis point in the last 2-3 years, where players were signed to long term backended contracts that left no room to recruit anyone when it became obvious that these players were not up to first grade, past their best, or simply not worth the amount of money that they club was paying them.

Farah, Sironen, Moses, Woods, Tedesco, Brooks, Lawrence, Sue, Simona are all examples of the stupid contracts offered. A couple have accepted their true value and stayed, others have taking their roster constraining salaries elsewhere.

Looking gorward to seeing the fan reactions next year when Farah and Woods are having the full amount of their big contracts paid by the club they are at.

Did we miss our two best players. Does Tedesco make that pass that Naiqama did when MWZ scored a try. Was our go forward better or worse with Woods out of the team.

Tedesco is a good player but he has been ordinary this year. Woods is a player who gets great stats but his main contribution is to make it harder for every other player in our team because of his slow play the balls and inability to dent the line or help us get a roll on.

We played well last night. It was something to work with. I'm massively disappointed that we lost and we desperately need a win but we put in out there.

I honestly think that this has been the biggest issue this club has had. We've over paid players for years based on potential and that includes our stars such as Robbie and Benji. Moving on overpaid players like Woods, Tedesco and Moses should really help us. I think Tedesco is the only possible loss but on the money he is being paid he is a massive risk.

to quote mike gibson- the team snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
to me,it doesnt matter if the team gets the spoon,as it reinforces the thought that they are the weakest team in the competition ,and they probably are.
watch newcastle in their games and then watch wests .it will be a photo finish.

No team's supporters feel like their team deserves the spoon, but if we don't, who does? Our season was sabotaged the moment Taylor was sacked. From that point on the games with big 4 started, they didn't get the coach they wanted, one had a whinge and demanded a release, the other went on radio and admitted teams like the Roosters and Bulldogs look more appealing because they aren't always in the headlines. Even though that's a fundamental lie. Then our supposed captain spends weeks distancing himself from the club, making it so obvious even Stevie Wonder could see he's leaving. Then he announces he's leaving in Prima Dona fashion in an interview playing the victim card and spewing out lie after lie. And the club approved it!!!! So while a lot of our players might not deserve it, because they do try their guts out, in the bigger picture the club probably does.

The problem started with Noyce after we won the GF. Instead of building upon the foundations that made the premiership possible by bringing marque players into the club to ensure his claim of a dynasty, he paid overs to the guys who won the GF. Management recruited poorly ever since due to very limited funds. This has lasted right up until now. Season 2018 will be a new dawn for this club. It will be the resetting of everything and the creation of something new.

In all honesty, we performed better than we would have if the turd and the dog were there.

Yep that's the crux of it! I don't think anyone is denying the boys gave it a good shot last night, albeit against a weakened Sharks team. It's just the way we manage to lose what should've been a game for us to win, and to win well. The opposition doesn't even need to lift most times because we just beat ourselves time and time again!

Sure Woods, Tedesco and Lawrence weren't there last night for our mob either, but honestly we had enough experience in that team to not let that 8 point lead slip away in the final few minutes - its just unforgivable! Because of stupid schoolboy errors, once again we walk away without the 2 points when it was ours for the taking, and that's what hurts most. I felt better after the thrashing by the Roosters than I do after last night, tbh.

It's always disappointing to lose a game in the final couple of minutes. At least we didn't blow out our for & against points by too much - because I think that's what will decide the wooden spoon.
A pretty honest effort last night & with a bit of luck, the points could have gone out way…

Ricky Stuart said the same thing last week….Canberra deserve the spoon..

Guys get a grip. We lost in the last minute to the reigning premiers. We had a team on the park that we were all happy with and ivan is now blooding the youngsters for next year.

Suli - rookie year
Eisenhuth - first game
Marsters - 2nd game
Lolohea - 3rd game with us
Liddle - not many games

How good will these guys be with more gsmes this year and then the re inforcements arrive next year. I know im excited for 2018, and even more so knowing we have this young group of players that will get even better.

I really don't care if they deserve the spoon. I don't deserve the spoon and neither do our supporters.

Read my mind. And I expect these overpaid pretenders to have a red hot go to avoid the spoon. No good just some of them having a go.

Well written and there is a lot to be excited about next year. Sue and Taylor made decisions you not expect experienced players to make.

This reminds me, I along with others stated after week 3 when JT got knifed our season was over… A few sneered and ridiculed that.
I wish I was wrong.

Cleary better have some drastic changes in store for next year because I'm getting sick very quickly of the way were playing currently

Kyle Lovett is not good enough to play in the NRL. Average State Cup talent at best.
Not big, not fast, not skillful & sloppy handling.
Must have contacts in high places.
Tigers crazy to offer him a new contract.
