On face value no… But the interesting thing which I like about Glencadam is it looks and races like a fighter. In the past, when it has been challenged, its fought on to stay in front. It doesnt want to be beaten and I like that in a horse!

Its certainly a horse who knows where the line is and loves to get there first. I however have a question mark over the horses who its been beating and this is from someone who's been on it the whole way..

I really think the speed will be a good one in the CC and think it will suit the back markers. If Craig williams can get cover on Dunaden (even 3 wide cover) i think he will storm down the outside over the top of them, the other who im wary of is My Quest for Peace. I really think its an Internationals race to win.

Congrats MT

After watching the replay & Dunaden's run more closely, what an absolute gem of a ride by Williams & slashing run by Dunaden.Has come into $6.50 favourite for the cup now.Poor GG must of cover an extra 300 metres on every other runner.

I just can't understand why the French horses were longer odds than Glencadam Gold. The French form seems to be the one thing that's held up the last few years.

Did you back the winner Yoss? You mentioned before the race about value re GG v French horses.

No I was out looking at tiles all afternoon so I didn't get the chance. I'm not a massive punter on the horses but if I was I'd just bet around Gai Waterhouse in Melbourne - her record there is terrible. Having said that she'll probably win the Cox Plate next week.

In hindsight, it makes alot of sence to back the best horse in the field… The only reason Dunadan was at double digits is because everyone felt it wasn't set or this race. I had it in my multis as I knew it was too good not to be around the finish, but never went straight up on it.

The race was virtually gifted to the stayers by that maniac Pumper... There was only going to be 1 result with so much speed. I was also impressed with the run of Americain and will be watching the Geelong Cup closely on Wednesday?!

Maluckyday still hasn't peaked. I reckon it's a hope of beating Dunaden.

Racing Wednesday in the Geelong Cup… Should be an interesting race considering there are a few internationals yet to qualify for the big one?!

Would think he needs to win that and win it well to be a winning chance in the Melbourne cup. It's going to be an unusually small field for the Geelong cup this yr.

The caulfield cup was run at a solid tempo and was set up for a back maker to charge home. The question is will dunaden and American get that solid tempo in the Melbourne cup????

Yeah he's 15th in the ballot so gets a start, wasnt so much getting at he needs to win to make the field more so win it well to show he's returned to the form he showed to run 2nd a few yrs back. If he's going to win or go close to winning the Melbourne cup the he'd need to put this geelong cup field to the sword.

Cox Plate favourite Pierro has firmed in betting for Saturday's $3 million race after drawing perfectly in barrier seven this morning.
Pierro was not among the horses which worked at Breakfast With The Best at Moonee Valley, but he was soon the talk of the track when he drew so well in the maximum field of 14.
Pierro, who worked with Cox Plate stablemate More Joyous and Proisir at Flemington, firmed to $3.20 after the draw, where connections were able to choose their own barriers. More horses have won from barrier seven than any other in the race's history.

His trainer Gai Waterhouse earlier sprung a surprise when she elected to choose barrier 11 for her great mare More Joyous. Last year's winner, mare Pinker Pinker, also drew 11.

Second favourite Green Moon will jump from gate five.
Caulfield Guineas winner All Too Hard was a confirmed starter after galloping to the satisfaction of senior trainer John Hawkes at Flemington minutes before the barrier draw.

All Too Hard beat Pierro at Caulfield, and they will be joined by a third three-year-old, Spring Champion Stakes winner Proisir.
All Too Hard’s co-trainer Wayne Hawkes believes it could be a vintage year for the younger runners. "I just reckon the three-year-olds this year have the wood on them,” he said at the Breakfast With The Best function. "The race will make one of the elite..."
He said his father John had waited as long as possible to assess All too Hard because the Guineas had been the stable's main target. "He knows what it takes to win this race... it was down to this morning..."
Jockey Craig Williams said he was "comfortable" with his choice to ride Green Moon instead of Waterhouse’s boom three-year-old Pierro, which had won eight straight races before his upset loss in the Guineas.

Williams said he could have wasted for the ride, but it would have compromised his preparation on other spring rides.
"I’ve done all the work on him (Green Moon). I couldn’t be more comfortable going with him into the Cox Plate. He’s done everything I’ve asked for. I feel he’s the right horse," Williams said.
Only four three-year-olds out of 62 runners have won the Plate, and only one of 17 Caulfield Guineas winners, with horses defeated in the Guineas boasting a superior record against the older horses at the Valley. But three-year-olds have a better recent record. Savabeel won in 2004 after taking out the Sping Champion Stakes, Miss Finland and Samantha Miss ran forward races, and So You Think won in 2009.
Pierro's owner Greg Kolivos said his colt was ready to run the race of his life in the Cox Plate, despite a "gut-busting" run in the Guineas. He said that run could have flattened his star, but "perhaps its brought him on".
Commentator Richard Callander was impressed by the work of Proisir at Moonee Valley. "You thought he was a old-stager the way he handled the Valley," he said.
Moonee Valley Racing Club chairman Robert Scarborough told TVN that the track was in "pristine condition" and would handle the double-header of racing on Friday night and Saturday.
He said that his club was not currently "for or against" running the Cox Plate at night, and a decision on any change would not be made until after planned redevelopment works were completed at the venue.
