The LEICHHARDT Myth

from my seat at CSS, in the western stand, I can see every part of the field. Why do people want to stand on a sloping paddock with very limited views to watch a game? Atmosphere? I'd call it torture and if I want to see my team get flogged, I'd rather do it in some comfort.

Now, what was that about a fortress?

Well 17k people enjoyed it.
\
\
And im sure they will again.
\
\
But yeah stay at home where its more comforable you flog.

17k next game you reckon?

With my crook knee and ankle it would be difficult to stand up for a few hours without suffering - especially on a slope. So could put some people off unless there is guaranteed seating as well.

Sell out parochial crowd and every one was up for it - dont understand why there is tension about that.
We have way bigger problems to be concerned about, than a full house, to watch what was served up in the second half today, regardless of what ground it was played at

Theres bigger problems than making money each and every year?

Yes

Don't be surprised if 10K saints fans invade.

They have not played there since 2001

Just looking at todays game as a planned fixture. Couldn't have been a better turnout and was probably the only positive, from what ended up as a less than impressive performance. Why people choose to go to Leichhardt is apparent to some, and dumbfounding to others. Regardless - as supporters of the club I would have thought that it is pleasing to see a fullhouse at any of our scheduled games.

Yeah a fullhouse and Farah back. I know I'm satisfied as a fan.

It was a great try.

He would probably run past MWZ today.

That one and the Coyne try still haunt me. I was at both games and had a mate at each game call us home. I could have belted them.
Blacklock would have jogged past MWZ.

There was 17K Tigers fans there to watch v the Titans. Go we get that many for that game at any other ground?

No.
They only go to L.O.
Non travellers

I just wana thank all the Cambo peeps fpr coming to Lillyfield today.

If they dont travel there would have been about 10k today.

Thanks Macarthur and the opal card.

Aaah yes, no comeback so resort to sarcasm and name calling, very touchy simon, you shouldnt post while blotto…go on, call me a flog too tough guy.

You can try and twist things all you like but its obvious we have a split fan base thats bigger in the inner west that doesnt travel to Cambo...*hic*

Everyone goes on about a big crowd on a Sunday afternoon but these crowds have less atmosphere than the night games. The once a season crew rock up and sit on the hill and don’t get into the game dulling the atmosphere.

You mustnt have been there today you flog,

The place was buzzing!

Was there and I’m sorry my opinion differs to yours. As I stated I feel the atmosphere is better at other games. Sunday afternoon brings a different crowd who aren’t as vocal.

Sorry Gallagher not sure what your angle is. Not satisfied about anything today but the crowd showed up to see the team play and its clear that some dont like that. Would you be happier if we got flogged and there was only 5,000 there!
People went expecting to win - we didnt that is what the problem is today not the fact we had a good crowd at Leichhardt.

After that dross yesterday the one thing OP is whinging about is the crowd? Sweet baby Jesus…

After today's effort, they'll be lucky to get that again this year, be it Leichhardt or anywhere else.

Are we really pretending that it wasn't Farah, or to a lesser extent Mbye that made it a sell out? It definitely wasn't our red hot form or any other made up reason.

There was a mix of factors that made it a sell out - Leichhardt, Sunday afternoon, beautiful weather, farah’s return, a new signing (Mbye), weak opponent (people expecting a win).

One reality of the game yesterday was that 99% of the support was for the Tigers ,play a Dragons,in form dogs or Souths there and 50% of that crowd watch from there TV . 17000 house full is poor for a club that now has 20000k members.
Yes the atmosphere blah blah yesterday …..the club has to play out of a stadium that holds 30000k minimum as it has an obligation to all members and fans to allow them to attend games .
Yes the atmosphere was ok yesterday but that is not future but then again the club and a large part of the supporter base like living in the past, there is nothing wrong with that but there are those of us that see real opportunities ahead for our club moving forward to cement the future, but playing out of stadiums that can not even service the membership base well I suppose that is tradition.

Bulldogs, eels and Souths games should always be played at the bigger stadiums. LO and Campbo are too small. I’m surprised they scheduled the dragons game at LO… they were probably thinking we’d be out of finals contention by then. There is still a place for our two suburban grounds for the out of town teams though. I’d like to see an 8-2-2 split (and no games in NZ or Tamworth!)
