The spoon

My opinion obviously differs and I can only ascribe fault of us receiving the wooden spoon to the gradual decline of the NRL team, due to the poor collective effort from management, over a number of years.
We've suffered every pitfall there is and have been idly sitting on our hands to further avoid them, but it's created delegated or cross-cutting decision making that causes limited involvement or input and an inability to successfully address the real issues.
This IMO has only amounted to a culture of low accountability that has seemingly seeped down to the team.
How is Sheens or anyone else going to steer this sinking ship?
His appointment now resets our strategic planning and while his high-stake decisions may produce short-term pain it's however more focused on the long-term consequences, overall goals of the club and also promotes accountability.
His managerial decisions have helped define the standards, concise roles and responsibilities of everyone within the organisation. His statements about the plans for the direction of the team have set individualised objectives that are now completely measurable on the delivery of the performance/services (of everyone) for the club only.

The development of the pathways program obviously shows they've learned from their mistakes and failures with neglecting this area. Don't agree with the emphasis on it, but it better establishes expectations on the team's progression and growth. But most importantly creates a talent pool of juniors for the NRL team.

I'm way past the blame game and have accepted we've met our fate. So while I may not support every decision from them I still look forward to see how we turn things around.

Yes Sheens made and will make mistakes. But then it’s only a human thing to do isn’t it?
Confident that the choice we made is solid In the circumstance we were faced with.
….. but as to will this work? Give it a chance at least as see how it pans out.
Well in his first year he has taken us to the spoon. Can’t wait to see the encore

Yep we are definitely on the same page.

It’s for the good because you are an academic.

I say to all the folk on the forum they should never underestimate themselves or think they are somehow beneath or not up to criticising our bosses with their law, business and other formal degrees or attainments.

Because for all of these skills, abilities and accomplishments, our board and management have failed.

On a combined basis, after many years of effort, they have delivered us the spoon which is as bad as it gets.

A group of us here had a better chance of avoiding the spoon this year than our board.

Then our club has officially implanted further expectations of future failure in our minds with this illusory and spectral “development” narrative.

So when we fail next year and beyond, they can fall back on this excuse and say “we told you in 2022 life would be tough for awhile. What’s wrong with you?”

It’s complete and utter nonsense.

Plus these promises have been used so many times before.

But in club history, the official resignation to future failure and continuity of incompetency has never ever been so bold or audacious as it is today.

That’s the frightening thing about our lot at the moment.
They seriously think that us fans want a COE (that none of us will ever see and use) instead of a competitive side.

Do they know what their core responsibilities are?

Do they know what an nrl club is?

It doesn’t seem like it. Heavens knows what they think they are doing.

I’m getting pretty close to calling time on the club altogether. The club will love that.

Another critic falls, let the snouts dig deeper into the trough and partake of high directors fees. They will probably give themselves bonuses this year. They don’t deserve anything. In fact they should pay us back.

For he sake of sanity let's forget about the spoon and look forward to big improvements next season. No use crying over a spilt spoon.
I wonder if the wooden spoon is longer than the club officials noses at moment? I doubt it.

I think this is our best chance of longer term success. I think it's our best chance of quick success as well.

If we can get 2-5 juniors coming through each year we'll improve out of sight. The issue is picking the right ones and retaining them as well.

This lot couldn’t pick their noses properly.

Hang on, Tim picked himself as coach and retained Benji for three years as coach.

Benji is a junior coach.

No, hang on he’s not even that at the moment.

Hopefully Sharon will do a feature in Womens Weekly about her break up with Benji and the torture it was for her when he wouldn’t take her calls.

“ Bereaved Sharon braves benjis backsliding”

“ Heartbroken Sharon seeks new life as recycled tyre”

Youre finally getting up to @Merlot standard of humour!

I must say I saw a few rubber hoses that looked vaguely familiar under the car the other day.

And after a few repairs, the car fell back down onto the jack stands.

But you’d be better off asking GTA Benji to be honest.

Top all you do is talk negative shit

I’m seconds away from crossing that bridge of doom.

The place of no return when you start to cheer on our opponents and hope we get thrashed by 70.

This derangement can be attributed to the board and officials. One more unwarranted shill attack and I’m there.

I don’t accuse them of being “too positive” why should they attack me?

At any rate, if anything, out of respect for the mods here, I’ve been way too easy on the board and our village idiot officials.

On average for and against our team is almost two converted tries down before kick off.

We should be playing off a handicap of 12 points just to be evens. That’s serious garbage and even if were, we wouldn’t make the finals.

We’d be better off trading every single player with the bloody Burleigh Bears, definitely their coach and officials. I wouldn’t hesitate with the latter two at least.

The season of death has almost ended, everyone who loves and cares about the club, is entitled to go off our heads. I see it as almost being a duty.
