Tigers $3.5m Roster Plan

I cannot believe the people on here critising Woods, when he is an Australian rep,SOO rep and is our captain selected by his team members..one of the better players to come through the ranks…..but that's still not good enough for the minority on here......geez even the greatest players whether props or otherwise have made mistakes and at times haven't been on their game....we should be grateful we have him....

People on here get stuck into Cameron Smith , the best player in the game

If God was a footballer people would get stuck into him :brick:

Too right if he played for the opposition!

Well for starters you took the time to look up Wood's win record in the first place; I fail to see how a type of statistic introduced by yourself becomes irrelevant when used by someone else.

Or do win rates only apply to props? Is that what you meant? Shall I quote Shannon Boyd's win rate or Reagan Campbell-Gillard? Or are they equally as useless, do win rates only apply specifically to Aaron Woods?

I introduced stats to specifically back up my claim that as one of the game's premier front rowers, he rarely sets a good enough platform for victory. I would have added the other top tier props but i dont need to as its obvious their win rates are superior. Obviously a myriad of other factors contribute to victory and theyve been discussed to death in other threads. My point was for the money people are claiming he is worth we dont see the results that could be expected.

Truly that is one of the longest bows I've ever seen drawn on here.

Because Wood doesn't have a good win rate, he must not set a good enough platform? Or the corollary, which ever you mean, that his lack of platform is a prime driver of his poor win rate?

Yet Tedesco has a far worse win rate, which is meaningless. You can derive implications about forwards platform by win rate, but not attacking ability or defensive stoutness.

Matt Scott had a win rate of 42.57% over the first SEVEN years of his career, but surely that was a reflection of the overall quality of the Cowboys in those years, not his go-forward?

Fine, you don't think he is worth big money, but the results fall on the 17 players who take the field, not just the rep prop.

Priorities

1.Teddy
2.Moses

I do not care about Brooks. He is lame. Brooks can be compensated by JLJ who is just as good and cheaper.

Woods - I wouldn't break the bank for him. He could be so much more. He is soft

Woods is far from soft. The fact that he doesn't need to play the "angry psycho bloke" further demonstrates this IMO. Apart from the god awful chick teenybopper headband he feels compelled to wear he is a hard nut. Can't remember him ever being shortened up in a tackle and struggling to get to his feet through pain. Opposition players may not fear him but I'd bet they sure respect his durability.
Prefer him over a "loose cannon" type like Waerea-Hargraves who is great at belting blokes high and late but only has 2 or 3 good games in him per season, if that. Woods is a gun.

Maybe we can get James Roberts down here to rip off the band and tug on his hair to get him in "angry psycho bloke" mode.

Woods to Manly just surfaced its head on Instagram. Imagine a swap for Jake Trbojevic!

That surfaced last time he was negotiating contracts too… They must be keen to see the shaggy bugger over there?

He's been quoted as saying he was a manly fan as a kid
2+2=3

I don't get the 2+2=3 comment

Because he was a Manly fan as a kid, journos draw the conclusion that he wants to be at Manly.

For mine, Teddy then Moses are our priorities.

Woods is a good prop, make no mistake, however I don't think we should be breaking the bank to keep him. Brooks can move on if he makes little to no improvement this year, and even if he does have a breakout year, his contract should be valued against the fact that he's only just hit his straps. I think JLJ can offer good foil for Moses.

He wouldn't play for us. He'd run out of miracles before winning a premiership !!! :roll

I know, that annoys me. Siro Jr was a Tigers supporter as a kid and look where he is.

Tedesco was a Roosters supporter… he's gonna leave!

Farah was a Doggies supporter.

Andrew and Matthew Johns were Balmain supporters. Imagine if they'd come to the club.

Fwiw Andrew Webster was on radio this morning and claimed all negotiations between the Roosters and James Tedesco have ceased and he will not be a Rooster in 2018.

if he were to re-sign before the start of the season that would be huge

This is going to sound stupid considering he's the best fullback in the game and probably one of the top 5 players in the game, but there aren't too many clubs out there that are in need of a fullback. The only teams i can think of are Saints, Newcastle and maybe the Dogs and Parra. That's it. I think he's the most likely out of the 4 who will re-sign.

It doesn't sound stupid but unfortunately it only takes one rival bidder to drive the price up. Dogs, Eels and Dragons as you've said are all going to be showing an interest (at the very least).

I'm hopeful that some re-signings will be bedded down before the season starts..

You are not going to get Teddy for chump change and nor should we..the Club has indicated time and time again he is a priority…I don't believe offers from rival Clubs will push up his price as his price is already up there...
