Actually out of all the top clubs I admire them. Tend to keep it to myself though when Im not telling everyone on a public forum.
Any other club and people would be behind them atm given how brave they have been with their injuries. I think they will be the team to beat next year.
So when they have a team of also rans and youngsters with little game time they get belted from pillar to post. Playing roster reminds me of another team that gets slammed for such inept performances.
This is what gets me. Even with all the injuries they still had Teddy Crichton Radley and Tupenoa.-and get smashed. We currently don't have players of that calibre any week. And some still think we underachieved. Add those 4 players to our squad and most of our fans would have us top 4 bound yet for the Roosters it is their weakest team and the reason why they did not go further.
If we sack a coach based on the results of this current squad any credibilty we had as far as effecting change is almost laughable imo.
I agree - I don't feel sorry for the Roosters and I'm not impressed by their performance. I'm also vindictive though and I recognise that. Of course they are still a good side - they have the world's best fullback of the past 5 years and arguably the second-best coach of the modern era, with a very deep roster even when it's put to the test.
Of course we should aspire to be more like the Roosters, but I'm never entirely sure it's a level playing field comparing yourself to the Roosters.
The team that is regularly mocked as having a "salary sombrero", and they don't seem to care, and 4 years ago they bought 2 x $1M players in a single recruitment session - well this year's injury tolls show you just how far that salary sombrero stretches, that they can lose 7 or 8 established FG players and still make it to the finals with a fairly competent roster.
If they lost Tedesco, I think they slide right out of the finals, and I think that's the main thing about 2021's injury toll for the Roosters. Keary was a premiership-aspiration blow, but every other player could be covered. E.g. they lose Lindsay Collins but for most of the season they still have JWH and Taukeiaho.
But what it does show you is a handful of good players plus competent "triers" will simply NOT match it with genuine premiership contenders. The whole team has to lift the entire year. But it also does show you that one very elite player (i.e. a Tedesco or a Turbo) remaining uninjured can keep your slim chances alive.
