Why can't these legends remain what they are and not go to people for a head line

He was probably asked what he thought

No Ch7 looked like they went to his home for the comment

So you’re saying He rang 7 and said come to my joint ?

Yeah righto ?

No such thing I said it looked like Ch7 went to his place they probably rang him to make an appointment for the interview my point is why does he need to get involve and put his 2 cents worth in should have stayed out of it and vented his spline on the Forum

I’d say because he wants what’s best for the JV ..
I’m sure you’d be putting in your two bobs worth if you were him !
Doubt he’d come on the forum mate ?

Yeah, I wish I had a platform to push my opinion like he does. Every single person on here would do the same if they had the opportunity. That is the same reason people post their opinions on here, his forum and platform is just larger as a former player.

Exactly ..

We have 24 players on contract for 2021, that have to be kept. There are alot saying to get rid of Packer, Reynolds and Mbye, however that is not going to happen. There is room for 4 players to be added to the 24. So there is McIntyre, Eisunhuth, Taylor, Seyforth, Clark, Jennings, Smith, McQueen, Lawrence and Marshall off contract, and we probably need a few new players, and then there is Grant, that we would like to keep. In reality Benji would of been aware of this situation, I'm sure there would of been alot of conversations with management, and players, and he knows that in 2018 getting a second chance to be at the Tigers , and playing regular first grade, rather than playing in the Queensland Cup, he was fortunate. He is a legend at this club, probably been our best player, however his time is up, and I feel, all the NRL clubs will be in the same situation as the Tigers, having to cut their squads.

Also, the talk of keeping Benji around to be a halves coach........not sure what the difference/improvement would be in our halves compared to now?

He’s no halves coach. Keep him as a mentor for young players instead

i actually think we need a fresh break from all our previous baggage. Like everyone i l.love benji and have always appreciated what he has done for us. However its time the club moved on imo.

I’m with you would love to move our first grade boys far away from our past failures. Time to look towards the future and start fresh, get guys like Rowdy and Benji helping get 20’s and development player over.

Good old Gary Jack.

Not even his own son likes him.

One of my Fav memories is him headbutting Ian Roberts fists with his eye sockets.

Good days.

Tigers gave Benji PLEANTY of time to announce his retirement. Can u imagine the uproar if the Tigers waited to seasons end to announce Benji wouldn't be around in 2021.

Terrible decision and disgracefully handled by the most inept management in Australian sport

Up to your usual standard I see

Again a week or more late and didn't much want him back in the first place, but it shouldn't have played out like it did, with the coach apparently not telling Benji to his face when he knew was happening later in the afternoon, instead giving some spiel of 24 hours to sort things out.

What's NOT classy is yesterday's hero's taking a cheap shot at the club when they don't know the entire story. Adds to the narrative that the club is in turmoil.

Instead, they should be more politician like and toe the party line.

Bringing someone's relationship with their kids into this conversation just because they commented publicly on it is the very definition of classless.

From what I understood from Benji's interview on 360 he read something in the paper, fronted Madge about it, Madge told him to give him 24 hours then talked to him and then another article came out. Ikin even asked Benji to confirm what he had just said.
I have supported Benji from day 1 but it is time for him to move on. I hope he retires before his legacy is damaged. He has plenty of opportunities to be involved in the game through media or a mentorship role weather it be at WT or a different club.

The question has to be asked: will the media call out the other 15 clubs if no one signs Benji for next year?
Is it just because he is a Wests Tigers legend? What about The Dragons, Broncos, or Auckland Blues?
Yep he’s done a lot for this club but he hasn’t earned the right to dictate if he gets to play on or not.

The worst outcome of this is that they are saying we are basically stuck with Mbye, JRey, Brooksy, Billy and Madden as our halves for the foreseeable future. Yes I know Madden is untried but from what I have seen he isn’t ready yet either.

Out of that lot I would off contract, I would offer small extensions to McIntyre and Eiso. By the look of selections, I’d say the squeeze is really on JRey and Rusty as well.

They cannot squeeze JRey and Rusty out, nobody else will take them. Agree would keep McIntyre and Eiso

We have a really good halfback comming through, Zane Cammeroux, and he is also a goal kicker.

We certainly need another star we can build around like a young Benji

1 year mate . Billy and Jrey and madden come off next year . It’s just brooks and Mbye who are here to 2022 and 2023

Just a thought 19 pages so far for this thread in 3 days Imagine that Covid hadn't happen this year and BENJI dare I say it had to Canterbury Cup the Forum who have gone into meltdown

I think most agree this was clumsy.

Benji isnt the reason we missed the finals again, but its time to make the big changes.

Benji, your my Fav WT player,
