Tim Simona To The Sharks?

Thing is with Richards, my opinion on him coming back is entirely dependant on the money being paid as well as any promises Potter made such as "you will be first choice winger in R1".

If Patty is coming back on a lowish value deal, with no golden handshake agreements, and is told to earn his spot in the run on, then I still think its a good deal. I am a big believer in old heads and the experience they can bring.

100% right. Richards should only be back on a modest deal. I knew a director at the time he left and his response was you can only pay a winger so much under a salary cap and he was getting heaps more to go to England.

For mine Richards given his age should only be on a minimum deal (about $100,00 to $150,000) to come back and be told that there are some great youngsters at the club in his position so be prepared to play a lot of NSW cup if you are not in top form.

Knowing our club we have probably paid him $250,000 plus and will make it hard for the coach to drop him.

Yes i read that as well about Ayshford being shopped around, what i am saying is we just cant keep letting players go & keep paying part of their contracts, we will end paying for more players @ other clubs then what we have @ the Tigers. Also the Player has to agree to go.

Agreed. We are all already paying for 4 players at other clubs. Ayshford will come good and should see out his contract here.

Must admit it quite funny how we play the Sharks this week & this rumor starts about Simona. Should of started our own & said that Fifita was coming back to us.

I believe there is a thread along those lines already…

Ayshford still has a couple of years left on his contract, so we pay some of his money & let him go, havent we learnt our lessons with other players. Also Benji would have a pretty good idea who has signed with us & who is under contract.

That will depend on whether Blake requests a release to sign elsewhere. If he does that, the contract we have/had with him because null and void.

Mate told me its all but done just then. Please this guy can't do anything wrong give him some decent cash and put him in the centre.

We don't have decent cash I'd say is the issue. All the young blokes who weren't expected to play much first grade this year get approx 3k per game and that counts to next years cap. So for example Simona himself will next year cost his contract plus 3k per game he has played this year if that's 20 games it means he is an extra 60k plus whatever he is paid next year from a cap perspective same would go for Nofoaluma, Sironen, tedesco, sue, etc who weren't first graders when they signed on. So that adds up across the squad next year

Your mate also told you "kevin Rudd is our new Prime Minister" everyone seems to know someone that knows something which eventuates to the opposite.

This may be a stupid question but it is the tigers after all, is Simona contracted beyond this season ?
Crappybourne gone so maybe that frees up some space

Simona is not contracted beyond this season, but with Pettybourne leaving, I hope some of his salary can be used towards re-signing Simona because he certainly deserves based on form this year.

Hmm that's a strange one then because if you were looking to keep a player you would generally have them locked up before now,but thank you for the info willow

Given the way Robbie came out swinging today in regards to the club's retention in the past few seasons, I imagine the club would have second thoughts about letting Simona go.

With the amount of outside backs we have next year, I'd be letting Reddy, Tuqiri and Utai go first.

Nofoaluma, Ayshford, Lawrence, Simona to start, Koroibete and Richards for depth.

Simona will go if he see's his opportunity's being limited when players are fully fit , something has got to give and decisions have to be made , with Richards playing here next year and Korrobete to return from injury …. what do you do ?
Nofo has made that wing spot his own in my opinion and for me I would have Simona in the centres with Larwrence , so do you disappoint Korro or Simona ? we can't keep them all and they all want to play 1st grade.

Absolutely! Although personally I would keep Reddy and get rid of Ayshford, Tuqiri and Utai. It's ridiculous to think these guys are there in the way of us signing up a talent like Simona. I'm all for having some experience in the backline, but with Lawrence, Reddy and Richards now coming, that's plenty. Tuqiri's and Utai's NRL playing days are well over, imo and Ayshford? - well he's had enough chances to show us what he's got and it's nowhere near the talent of Simona and Nofoaluma.

I liked him when he started but thought consistency would be his issue. He's proved me completely wrong.

I'm still not sure about his defence to be in the centres and not sure about his safeness under the high ball to be a winger.

Somehow the coaches need to fix a position for him

Reddy is off contract, Ayshford isn't so it will be quite a bit harder to get rid of Blake as we can't afford to pay out another contract.

What a shame, I didn't know that. Yes, after learning how much we are still paying for Sheens and the players who defected to the Sharks scum, I suppose it would be idiotic to have to pay out another one. Pity, cause I reckon Reddy offers more than Ayshford.

Ayshford has been solid this year. Showed some decent footwork last night. Reddy has also been solid, there's not that much between them. It's quite obvious there's not much space left in the backs department and the logical choice is to move on the player who is off-contract.

how reliable is your mate?

is he in a position to actually know, or may have also just heard rumours?

His had a couple of good games in the 3 years in our top grade. Don't think his worth keeping and neither do the club because they signed Richards. He will be moving on.
