I see the 2 situations differently because Blake is not a Tigers junior who has been injured consistently. We have had good value out of Blake.

He had 3 years at Penrith and only played 16 NRL games. His under contract to The Wests Tigers.
Yes he had a good year and now he wants to take the money from Canberra and run.
No sorry You don't get a release.
$trange isn't it. Another player with a few more top grade games than Blake was castigated for originally making a similar decision to the potential one Austin is thought to be making.
.
Two different situations. One wanted to go for money, the other for a guaranteed position.

But he didn't ,did he
But then again we haven't heard anything from Blake about this either
Does he want to stay a Tiger ??
Not that it matters , we have a contract and if the Raiders want him that much we will take someone off their hands to make the deal worthwhile
This should be win / win situation for the Tigers if Blake does leave

There are no guarantees. Stuart could be sacked. Canberra might not win a game, Campese could come good.
Austin is going for the money any other reason is just rubbish.
His under contract. Man up Mayer and just tell him no release.

I don't know that we've got good value from Austin yet,
He was signed for two years and given another chance at first grade which he wasn't going to get at PEnrith. (For whatever reason)
He would have known before he came here , that the club had a high opinion of Brooks and Moses as a halves pairs(so would have known that it wasn't as simple of rocking up and slotting into five eighth)
While he did have some good games with us this year I 'm still not prepared to go as overboard over him as some have.
He possibly could end up as a top quality first grader, but IMO he's still got a long way to go to be at that level ,and be needs to be able to learn to set things up for his outside backs more than he does now.
There is no guarantee that Moses will make that jump in standard either but if Blake has any confidence in his own ability then he needs to show enough fight and determination to honour his contract and fight for the position next season ) , and so far as we know , that might be exactly what he intends to do)
Who knows ? With all the B/s around our club and the media , you can't believe anything you read.
I may be wrong , but at the moment I see Blake as a depth player to cover the positions that he has been already. If he turns out to be better than Moses , then he should get the spot if not he will be a good bench player for us until he can get a regular spot. And we need depth.
It should be remembered that he has played 26 or 27 first grade games between Penrith and Wests , and that Moses has had a lot less under difficult circumstances . BOth should get better
If he continues to improve and play out his contract then we probably would have got good value from himand he,s free to go anywhere or stay here.
I just hope that club management has learned from their experience this year, with releasing players one week, and then having to run around like chooks with their head cut off the next week, to try to fill the jumpers with anyone that was left standing.
I think that maybe Blake should show some gratitude to a club that has given him a chance in first grade. And show that he is good enough . If he does that he will be worth probably a lot more money on his next contract than he is now, no matter where he goes

Six paragraphs to say what exactly?
a 'depth player' - hilarious. Our player of the season is a 'depth player'. What do you describe the rest of the first grade squad as?
