Triple M rumour

The difference in treatment between Robbie and Corey Parker is astounding.

Corey is being treated with dignity and respect.
Robbie is being treated like a cancer.

I understand and respect Taylor's courage, but there are better ways that he can do this.

Perhaps the difference has to do with the dignity and respect with which Corey Parker carries himself.

Same old crap in here.

We would be looking for a 3rd choice hooker behind Ballin and Liddle. Mortimer would be that role. Garvey, Cook etc would want the $ and a guarantee of first grade to come here. We have our starting hookers and won't spend more than the bare minimum on a 3rd choice.

Cherrington has been given a go this season. He started off ok, was dropping off in form and especially in defence. Has a long way to go and is rightfully behind Liddle in the pecking order. Add was injured for a couple of months too.

Ballin is a professional currently on peanuts. He was shafted by his club but maintained his professionalism and didn't kick up a fuss. Robbie has long been a destabilising force at the club. The sooner he is gone the sooner we can build a better culture at the club. A great individual player no doubt, but not what this team needs.

The situation's aren't the same other than both players being shafted. Corey is leaving and Robbie is digging in.

Yes correct Nelson , but that is Robbie's right as per Contract he signed….whether we agree or not .

Common sense would tell anyone that he will be leaving as it's not in his best interest to play in Reserve Grade next year , but the spin that was fed to the fans that his not in the Top 17 is what gets up my nose and many others .

I can handle his not part of the plans but the Club has handled this poorly from the onset .
JT should of started Robbie in Reserve Grade at the start of the year if that's what he always wanted .

He also wasn't owed almost a million per year there, and didn't mind moving( if he felt strongly about staying , he could've), his choice, same as Farah. Only Farah decided to stay where he committed himself to, nearly three years ago.

At the time he said he would stay with Manly and fight for his spot - and be happy to play reserves.
Then we offered to sign him for 2 years and he jumped - obviously of the opinion Farah wouldn't be here for long.

And that's the whole point Kul. It's a horrible label to use but I am of the opinion that Farah has, indeed, become a cancer within the club. I used to like him. He was gutsy, gave his all for his team and was the most skillful hooker I've ever seen when at the peak of his powers. However, all he's done in recent times is undermine the coaches and, generally create disharmony. The best way to treat a cancer is to isolate it, stop it spreading and, eventually, eradicate it. That is exactly what the Tigers are trying to do.

When did Ballin play reserve grade?

The simple answer is this year …with us.
He was released from his 2016/17 contract with the Eagles because he was not in Manly's first grade plans just after he signed a new contract.
He never got a chance to play reserves there because of injury.

Once here he conceded himself he would be playing reserves for us (courtesy of The Australian in May this year)...

'The man meant to be Robbie Farah's replacement has conceded he will have no problems playing reserve grade for the rest of the season if coach Jason Taylor desires, with Matt Ballin conceding the State of Origin veteran deserves the No.1 hooking job.'

Make of it what you wish.

Wow…I know what I make of what you make of this. **Clutching**

Clutching at the truth.
You should give it a go.

He's never played reserve grade.
You should give a comprehension class a go

Ballin played one or two games in reserves this year to work his way back to full fitness. Was then promoted to the NRL side ASAP.

I remember his rookie year at the Eels and how he was lauded as the next big thing. I could never see it. As someone said before Daniel Mortimer = John Morris.

His signing would go to further proving the theory that JT doesn't see hooker as a high value role. Tackle, tackle, tackle and pick the ball up from the deck and pass it.

That's it.

Do not run, do not engage the markers, do not kick from dummy half etc[/quo
The coach wants a hooker playing that role and so he should with the halves we have.
Days are gone where we needed farah to fill the number 7 void partner for Benji we juggled for nearly a decade. Prince, Lui etc etc.
We don't need a creative hooker right now,let alone a aging one.
As the Newcastle Knights players said. Just pass it to Joey.

And yet Newcastle had a great hooker in Buderus who would do a lot from dummy half.

It's all BS. Ennis who is the flavour of the month - takes two steps from the dummy half on most plays unless camped in his own twenty. He also crabs across the field looking for a runner when attacking the opposition line ala Farah. Kicks from dummy half and backs himself to run it. Seems to work just fine for the Sharks.
**Taylor wants him gone the board has backed him - end of story.**

This is what it comes down to. I reckon it's poor form and I reckon it shows a lack of integrity but it is what is is.

It's a personal thing.

I wonder how Parra fans are treating Hayne?

It's a funny game.

My mistake. Thanks for clarifying.
I guess that makes him a reserve grader in some peoples eyes :unamused:

By your logic Farah is a reserve grader too.

If I were Mortimer I wouldn't come here. The club is displaying how poorly it treats its players, why would anyone want to come here?

Besides Farah (which a lot of people would argue) what other players have the club treated poorly?

Hodgo, Heighno, Beau there are more.

The cowboys have Thurston and Morgan who are outstanding attacking halves, they also have a hooker who engages the defence quite regularly, and darts out of dummy half all the time, and bugger me they won the comp last year doing what you say we shouldn't.

Addo-Carr wasn't given a proper go, well not until half way through the year and by then it was already to late.
JT persisted with Rankin when everyone could see he needed to be dropped.

And that is just one player, MCK has not had a fair go this year either, yet Rankin has had an unbelievable run, go figure. :crazy

So this is finally solved, Farah to Cowboys
