I remember his rookie year at the Eels and how he was lauded as the next big thing. I could never see it. As someone said before Daniel Mortimer = John Morris.

His signing would go to further proving the theory that JT doesn't see hooker as a high value role. Tackle, tackle, tackle and pick the ball up from the deck and pass it.

That's it.

Do not run, do not engage the markers, do not kick from dummy half etc

The coach wants a hooker playing that role and so he should with the halves we have.
Days are gone where we needed farah to fill the number 7 void partner for Benji we juggled for nearly a decade. Prince, Lui etc etc.
We don't need a creative hooker right now,let alone a aging one.
As the Newcastle Knights players said. Just pass it to Joey.

The cowboys have Thurston and Morgan who are outstanding attacking halves, they also have a hooker who engages the defence quite regularly, and darts out of dummy half all the time, and bugger me they won the comp last year doing what you say we shouldn't.

So this is finally solved, Farah to Cowboys

That would be fine, and we can send JT to the top bidder and happy days again at the weststigers 😛ray:

Ballin played one or two games in reserves this year to work his way back to full fitness. Was then promoted to the NRL side ASAP.

**My mistake. Thanks for clarifying.**
I guess that makes him a reserve grader in some peoples eyes :unamused:

Thanks, I'll take that as an apology.

By your logic Farah is a reserve grader too.

Well, he technically is at the moment, the slight difference being that Ballin wasn't vice captain of an Origin team a week earlier and forced into reserve grade by a vindictive coach.
Should add - I quite like Ballin, seems very professional and a nice guy.

If I were Mortimer I wouldn't come here. The club is displaying how poorly it treats its players, why would anyone want to come here?

Besides Farah (which a lot of people would argue) what other players have the club treated poorly?

Hodgo, Heighno, Beau there are more.

Doesn't Heighno want back in?

….and deservedly so! If he can't, or won't follow coaches instructions, back to reggies with him. The number of people baffled by the fact he gets selected to play in the Origin free for all amazes me. If he plays for the good of the team (WT) all good, otherwise..........Highly paid Reserve grader.

And you know all of this for a fact ?

My take is that JT is just making stuff up. His points are all over the place and make no sense. If I could see the logic then that is cool but I can't.

When Siro was dropped for instance you could see he just wasn't doing enough. Aloiai comes in and I think although it's close Aloiai is playing better than Siro was. I don't see that with Robbie at all. I think we've gone backwards in that position.

He can't feel like he was treated too shabby if he wants to come back.
I think it's just life for a pro footballer. If you don't fit In with the coach and team you get moved on. It's just the way it is.

It's going to be interesting when the defences start to rush straight to the halves and really start to smash them. They might wish that our Hooker could take a few runs to put the defence in two minds , and take the pressure off.
It's going to be funny seeing how Taylor has to back down on his no run hooker/winger/ back rower/( whoever is the weeks flavour). Simply to give some protection to the halves.
Will he then relegate whoever is the hooker to reserve grade??????
Surely Taylor has too much integrity to have one rule for his " specials", and one for a different player

I don't think people watch games if they think Hookers only run from dummy half…

The cowboys also have a pack that almost always gets them on the front foot allowing the dummy half room.
We dont have that luxury as often.
Its why JT wants his halves getting quick ball… because unlike the cowboys our PTBs arent usually as quick as theirs due to our innefectiveness in the ruck & wrestle.
As for our halves getting smashed by rushing forwards...they'll relish the thought of that...stand a bity deeper, be patient, bide their time and those rushing forward s will soon be huffing and puffing forwards with Luke & mitch making them look silly

Well funny you say that
Jason Taylor just wants a dummy half to get the ball and pass

Even if that's true, it's s crap load better than taking 3 steps and then passing.

The difference in treatment between Robbie and Corey Parker is astounding.

Corey is being treated with dignity and respect.
Robbie is being treated like a cancer.

I understand and respect Taylor's courage, but there are better ways that he can do this.

Is it really courageous knowing he has the board and management in his corner ??
As a player, I would never have described Taylor as courageous … He had differences with Warren Ryan who ironically dropped him to reserve grade while playing for Wests and he didn't feel that was warranted either. It's amazing the change in mindset when he ends up as a coach years later.

Mortimer would be a handy pickup on a second tier deal.
I assume Ballin and Liddle will be our starting 9 combo next season.

Ballin should retire he was terrible for manly in 2016 and injured with us this year.
He has nothing left to prove can't see him playing next year would be a major step back.
He was a legend no doubt but his days are well and truly up.

I thought that he was neither good nor bad for manly in2016, as he had left the club before the season started

Bit lost on this one. Corey wanted another year or 2 and was told he was not going to get it so retired with dignity. He could have come out and said how he only ever wanted to play for the Broncos, had given them the best years of his life only to be shafted. If they had a less known coach, he could have maybe undermined him and used his influence at the club to get them sacked so he could look after himself, but did not work out that way for him

When that happened didn't he just move on? Maybe he is more than a football coach, he should be Farah's life coach

This isn't true though. The service from Robbie is definitely better than what other players have offered over the course of the game when they have been there. That is understandable as Robbie is the current SOO hooker and a gun player. Halatau and Rankin for instance aren't on that level and probably aren't even dummy halves.

JT obviously has a reason to shaft Robbie but none of us know what that reason is. I think the rational amongst aren't buying the spiel that JT is spinning.

I think this shows the difference between the way Robbie has been handled and the way Corey has been handled. A simple comment at the end of this season that we wouldn't be resigning Robbie in 2018 and this will be his last year was all that was required.

I don't respect Taylor for how he handled this situation and I'm at a loss why it's considered courageous.

Harvey - it's interesting how you conveniently miss the fact that Robbie is signed for next year. It doesn't fit your story.
