Watson Heleta and Marion Seve

one door closes another opens. Hope this guy steps up, was fantastic to watch last year… http://www.weststigers.com.au/team/profiles/obed_karwhin.html

His physical stats are very imposing for a young outside back. I think he looks a better prospect than Seve in regards to what our back line needs, ie size, power and speed.

Yes, is biggest attribute his height, which we lack in our backline. Hopefully a professional environment will improve his speed.

I thought he was regarded as pretty quick. Not in the fastest range of our backs but certainly faster than some. Considering the value of his size, as long as he is quicker than say Nofo or Tuiaki than I think that's adequate.

Not sure how he compares but in the games I saw in NYC he certainly wasn't lightning. He doesn't have the ability to beat his man with speed like Koro does. He would be around Nofo speed, perhaps a touch quicker, from what I saw. He can certainly finish and is good in the air.

Im a fan of him but I also love genuine pace in my wingers.

Simona is already much better center than Lawrence ever was. Also, while Lawrence
(at his best) could exploit his speed, he could never generate anything by himself, he never had side step, and his ball handling was awful = bricks instead of hands :frowning:
He was extremely lucky he had Marshall at his best, who was able to hit him with his magic passes

From the Courier Mail article:

_Ipswich junior Seve is the third under-20s star the Broncos have signed in the NRL’s off-season, after nabbing Cronulla’s Jamayne Isaako and Canberra’s Tevita Pangai Jnr._

Just incredible who they have bought in the off-season for an already strong squad. The salary cap is clearly dead and buried.

Yep.
They're also still paying Barba & Kennedy, would be picking up all of Blair's deal from '16 onwards and Pangai and Roberts wouldn't have come cheap.

Think with the departures of Rowe Hoeter and now Seve …Karwhin could see a bit of State Cup...there is also Satterthwaite, Tohi and Wheelhouse (who I rate) moving up from the 20's...

All is not doom and gloom...like the saying above one door closes another one opens...

I like Simona but this is a massive call…check out the YouTube Highlights of Lawrence when he was raw pace and busting tackles at will. It is easy to forget how good he was...

The WT wouldve went to ground to stay out of the media… At the end of the day, they wouldnt have too much to say on the subject as it would obviously get spun against them.

I can see it now: "WT have today released Marion Seve because he knows he is better than the over-paid Simona. As Tim is precious and part of the protected in tigerland, we thought it best to get rid of the kid to not upset the players we have invested too much money in. We wish Seve well in his endevours to play in a team capable winning a Grand Final. The club has nothing further to add, as we know we are a basket case"

Good news for the Ipswich Jets

I see the Jets have also signed David Faaalogo as well

Norths will get first choice, but it would be good for him to go home if he will be around family…

Hopefully Faalogo has a good year and Wests Tigers sign him

With the WT's giving Brisbane every Adam , Marion and James that we have I wish we would swap them for Carlin Anderson

I can't say this anymore , this kids gonna be the bee knees

I reckon Brisbane will play him in the 9's , watch this kid go

Ipswich Jet as well

I like Carlin as well, looks like a first grader to me.

He got a few games there last year and went alright. Not lightning quick as others have mentioned but he has decent speed. I'm still not sure what position he'll end up playing permanently…He's ok on the wing right now, but I think centre and backrow are definitely options as he gains some additional muscle in the next couple of years.

Just read in the courier mail Marion seve has been released to join the broncos, sorry tried to link but keeps redirecting me to the subscription page.

THE Broncos have snared one of the most promising young centres in the game with cancer-beating sensation Marion Seve leaving the Tigers for Brisbane.
>
Seve will join the Broncos this season, further bolstering the club’s backline stocks following the recruitment of James Roberts.
>
While he is yet to make his NRL debut, Seve is regarded as one of the most devastating young three-quarters in rugby league.
>
A product of league nursery Keebra Park on the Gold Coast, Seve fought testicular cancer which spread to his liver in his teenage years but emerged from the battle to win the Peter Sterling Medal as the country’s best schoolboys player in 2013.
>
Seve represented Queensland in last year’s under-20s State of Origin and has the potential to be another great signing for the Broncos after they last week snared Canberra’s Tevita Pangai Jnr for 2017.
>
**A breakdown between Seve and Tigers coach Jason Taylor helped deliver the 20-year-old to Red Hill.**
He was also keen to move closer to family.
>
Keebra Park delivered former Kiwi star Benji Marshall to the NRL and the school’s coach, Greg Lenton, said Seve was one of the best players he’s ever mentored.
>
**“When I name a team of the century this year he’ll be in the centres even though he hasn’t played NRL yet,” Lenton said.\
\
“I’ve got huge raps on him. I’ve seen him do some amazing things on the football field.\
\
“Sheensy (former Tigers and Australia coach Tim Sheens) said to me after the Australian Schoolboys final in 2013 ‘that kid is very special’.\
\
“You don’t coach kids like this. They’ve got unique special gifts and the worst thing you could do is interfere with that.\
\
“You put them in place on the football field, sit back and watch the music.”**
>
Despite the signing spree the Broncos are adamant they remain focused on being a development club and 11 of their youngsters were chosen in this year’s QAS under 20s squad.
>
However, the Broncos have lost several players in the 19-21 age group in the past year including Ash Taylor, Jayden Nikorima and Jordan Drew.
>
Brisbane identified outside backs as the area their junior stocks were low and signed two of the best teenage talents in the NRL.
>
**Seve is rated so highly, the 20-year-old should make his NRL debut at the Broncos this year.**
The Broncos also expected to debut in 2016 include back rower Jai Arrow, winger Elijah Alick and utility back Carlin Anderson.

I think this Keebra Park thing is just about dead in the water. The kids don't want to come to Sydney to play for us they want to play in QLD and stay up here. We haven't had one come to the club, make grade and stick around in ages. We're just disrupting the development of kids who'd be better off not uprooting at this point.
