Wests Tigers Should just become Wests

The thing about campbelltown is that only a minority of Wests Tigers fans live there. It obvious that the majority of supporters from the Balmain side live north of Liverpool and I think its fair to assume the majority of old magpies fans do aswell.
Leichhardt is the closest thing we have to a spiritual home.

Just leave it , there is enough politics within the club itself.
If it were to make our club play better footy i'd support this statement/post or whatever banter this gets classed as

As is, we have enough hassles in the club to deal with.

If we did piss off Tigers…. And called the team the Magpies how many supports would we have? And how many would we lose? Would NRL support us?
Would we still have Harry's sponsorship?
Who would Farrah, Woods, Brooks, Moses, Sironen..ect play for?
Holy Cross and Leichhardt juniors talent would be spilt between Parra, Dogs and Souths. Rugby Union be happy as they would have a strong hold in the area. Next year the new National Rugby Championship is starting up and the Sydney team is going to be based at Leichhardt Oval.
Did Mark Geyer address any of these issues?

Farah went to De La Salle Ashfield Wests Heartland.

Woods is from Balmain heartland.

As for the others I would trade them all in for Hayne from modern Wests heartand,

I believe that alot off our off field problems can be solved if we merge Balmain and Western Suburbs at all levels, creating the Wests Tigers RLFC.

- That way we eliminate the split boardroom, as there are no more 'sides'.
- Membership will include voting rights, just like most other clubs (rather than being glorified season ticket holders). This boosting membership and therefore $$ for the club.
- Wests Ashfield becomes the Wests Tigers Leagues Club, and enjoys the associated commercial benefits.
- Junior regions can still be split into WT sth-west and WT inner west.
- We pick a long term home ground and base our football operations from there. Homebush is an obvious choice since we are locked in there for the next decade, with ready made state of the art training and rehab facilities.

The current JV structure was relevant 15 years ago, but much has changed since then, and if the club is to remain relevant it needs to change also.

The dinosaurs will be up in arms at such a proposal, but anybody who cares about the long term future of the Wests Tigers could at least appreciate the benefits that this could provide.

So basically Wests Ashfield would fun the entire JV, meanwhile a giant tiger and mostly orange jersey is being worn. Why not ask them for their first born also.

Wow Geyer has a lot to answer for with his dumb comments. Let's get this straight - it will never be Wests Magpies.
We are and always will be Wests Tigers!
Now let's get the boardroom sorted. Yep I'm a dinosaur magpies supporter of old but there's only one future - Wests Tigers!

And if things continue as they are, Wests Ashfield won't have a team to fund.

As I said, the dinosaurs will be up in arms…

Except the T-Rexx. Their arms are too little to go all the way up

Okay, how would the Balmain people here like it if this was next season's WT jumper but with a one inch tiger on the sleeve -

I wouldn't give a shit as long as they start playing competitive footy !!!!!!

Wests have the name … Tigers have the logo ...
Hence ... Wests Tigers !

I'd rather a smart dinosaur than a dumb millenian any day of the week.

I couldn't care less what Geyer says or thinks (doubt he thinks anything at all actually..) Not sure he has too much to be proud about. Have had many dealings with him in a professional capacity in the past and they have never been positive. Why we would take advice from him is beyond me. Perhaps we can ask Schappelle Corby or some other quality people…...

Anyway, going by Geyer's reasoning, if we wear a different jumper and call ourselves Wests Magpies next week, then all will be fixed.

As a former Balmain Supporter, this might surprise a few but I don't really care. Call ourselves Wests Magpies. Don't even bother with the Tiger on the sleeve. I really couldn't care less. I'd still support the club 100%. I will never go elsewhere. I am happy to bow to the old Magpie fossils if it makes them happy. I'm bigger than that because at the end of the day it's a name and I don't really give a sh**!

But I bet the problems are still there tomorrow....

OK let's get something straight here in order to understand why MG would even say Bring back the Magpies.

Wests Tigers is a Joint Venture **NOT** a merger. People keep throwing it up as Western Suburbs and Balmain joined the two clubs together. This did not happen as **BOTH** clubs were struggling financially a JV was needed to stay alive. I don't care what you believe in who saved who as it's irrelevant, the bottom line is both needed to form a JV. Western Suburbs does continue to play in the junior grades (RMC). Balmain continues to play in HM and SG Ball. Next year, the Wests Tigers Board of Directors handed over all junior rep teams to Western Suburbs for 2015 season as Wests Ashfield continue to pay for the Balmain Junior rep sides and will end after this season. Balmain in case you haven't noticed is in a financial mess. If the two clubs did merge why would this happen? They are both still separate clubs but became partners as in Business partners in a JV which is Wests Tigers. Balmain have not contributed to the JV for quite some time now it has solely been Western Suburbs digging into their pockets. In the 15 years of the JV Western Suburbs have been able to recover financially while Balmain went further and further into debt.

As it's solely one club paying for a 50% share of the business it's common sense for them to just buy out the remaining 50% shares and become sole custody holder of Wests Tigers. Balmain Football Club will be finish come the time they go to court with the Rozelle developer looking for his money back. Balmain will cease to exist as a football club and leave sole heir Western Suburbs with the joint venture. As a club wouldn't you rather see your club name and colours being shown? I know if I invested that kind of money and been in the "business" since 1908 I think I would want my club heritage, history and colours back.

Wests Tigers is not a club it's a team very big difference as some Balmain die hards are trying to hold onto their clubs heritage, history and colours they simply do not have the right to deny Western Suburbs their rights. Wests Tigers Is not Balmain nor is it Wests it's a separate entity to the two clubs. If WSDRLFC wish to sell the team, then it is up to them, if they wish to bring back their history and colours it's up to them and the NRL to agree upon. There won't be a new team in the comp just one team being renamed.

Western Suburbs have never left they have always played under their club and colours the entire time. Balmain has had a good run with the help of Wests Ashfield but how long do you need to carry someone before you see that they are dead weight and never to improve?

I agree fully with MG that Western Suburbs should be back in the NRL 1st grade and if you don't think so then how bout we go 50/50 on a business together and I won't pay you a damn cent but I'll take my 50% of the profits without putting the money back in to the business. Seems fair you expect Western Suburbs to do so…...

I agree , let the magpies back in…. Just so I can watch them die !!! You magpies aren't very bright are you ? There's more to having a football club them having money. Amongst other things You need fans , sponsors and attract viewers for TV, and seeing as though nobody likes you , the magpie is already dead !

Great to see this old chestnut trotted out again for the one thousandth time !!!!
All I will say is united we stand divided we fall.

I would agree Knuckles except the people you see were never us to begin with.

They were never Wests Tigers fans. As such their bleating means nothing
