Wests Tigers v Penrith Rd 16 live game discussion

Our issues aren't going to be solved by focusing on 1-7, our problems are clearly 8-13, excluding Luch.

Not having a tackle in their 20 is a forwards failure

Next year is going to be a massive disaster if 2 new halves are not found .. the team is completely rudderless!

Watch us panic and pick up injury primed Foran for $800k, being the only bidders

I want to laugh at that but deep down with our history i know Pascoe has the pen just above the signature part of the contract.

I was watching the game thinking we have gotten ourselves back in this by competing and getting our set completions back above 80% and making first tackles within their twenty, having already weathered the first nine minutes of the second half down a player. Then I put my hands in the air as Benji kicked on the third and that was the match.

I can't be too critical in that game, Penrith are in a different league to us.

They’ve lost one game all season, that’s insane. I hope they win the premiership to be honest, only other contenders are eels storm or roosters and I prefer Penrith to all of them. Hopefully Canberra gets there but I doubt it

Same players make the same brain dead decisions each week.Benji and BJ leading the half wit brigade

Lol, everyone including the commentators say that Benji was hard done and yet you persist. If you think Benji was the problem you should watch a bit more NRL.

You keep on defending Benji but he was terrible. He did one good kick and the rest of his game was bilge.I have been an avid supporter since blokes like Raper Beetson Barnes and Kelly were playing so i would say i have watched enough rugby league not just NRL to know what i am talking about.
If you think Ginane and Anasta are good judges it explains a lot

You genuinely think that was a high tackle that deserved a penalty? Yes or no?

Off course it wasnt a high tackle i am not judging Benji on that but apart from his kick for Nofos try do you honestly believe he played well? His first movement is always sideways and cramps his outside players for room and pulls the defence onto them.It is not good enough,i have appreciated all he has done for the club over the years but his last 2 years have been very poor

Benji will soon turn 36 years old. He played very well in the early part of the first half but his tackling , fitness, speed and kicking went backwards after that. You cannot expect a 36 year old to maintain a top effort for anything like 80 minutes.

My opinion hasn't changed, we need a half, fullback, prop and 2 outside backs.

Just watched Madge in the post-match presser. Philosopical about things. Said the team just wasn't goo enough although pleased with the effort. Said he will take a look at the squad's depth over the next few weeks. Suspect we'll see a couple of other players given a go. He used Penrith and Chooks as the yardstick for where they want to be.

Ennis suggesting (and rightly so) that Maguire won't publicly say it, but he doesn't have the roster he wants. Questions being asked of Brooks too.

Why are people blasting Benji? Did you not see our forwards absolutely out classed? It's like the old days, small forwards except we don't have the speed we used to. Tommy was our worst player clearly. Surely you can't say anyone was worse than Tommy?

They are probably bagging him because of his woeful defence, hospital passes and pathetic 5th tackle options? Just a thought

What other options does he have. What players do we have giving him options? I just think even if we had an amazing half it will be hard to do much with our forward pack. Just totally different league to the Panthers pack. I don't disagree with you I guess it's pretty much our entire roster that's the problem haha. It's not like one player cost us.

Yeah our fwds got chewed up and spat out. There defensive line was covering the 10 mtrs quicker than our pigs were running up. Slow, fat & unfit

We needed to be playing flat on the line ,,,we tried to play with depth and Penrith picked us off because we don't have the speed to get on our oppositions outside

Really stupid footy

Not too smart hey. No adjustment at all.

Looked like Benchie was playing deep at 1st then he’d pass to Brooks who was flat and drifting sideways. Outside men were checked and had to crab across. No inside runners.
We really missed big rusty’s Decoys

And they were good tonight. It was a huge effort staying in the game so long. Really just confirmed what I already know about our team.

Because those same forwards had gotten us back competing despite being down a player and then he threw all that effort and good work away with another nothing kick in the 3rd.

How can people be bagging joey literally the only dude that matched them with aggression. You know there is an issue when your centre pushes your forwards out of the way because they are going backwards

Joey is bigger than our forwards, should Ruben Wiki him and move him to prop.

Doesn't have the motor. If Ricky does want him and with his family issues, send him back to the ACT.

I'll offer to drive Joey back to Wicky.

Madge definitely wants to be moving a lot of guys on. He knows the roster ain’t good enough.

42/58 possession
3-6 penalties
1-6 restarts

No chance of winning with those stats.

We also didn't have a forward crack 100m..

Packer's fault.

Yah was good to hear he's going to test our depth.

Brooks has to be shopped, but we're going to struggle to find two good halves.

Madge just hinted at shuffling things around now that things don't matter.

Even did suggest trying things at hooker, more than giving Lids more game time - maybe get Simpkins some time...

Yep, saw that and hope that is what happens.

This is the problem, every other team sees the cattle we have, there aren't too many who would be willing toake Brooks on current form IMO.

Honestly the refereeing we have copped this year has been so one eyed it’s disgusting. This game has to be up their as one of the worst. I get the NRL want the panthers to succeed , but not to this extent.

They won 28-6, we had one attacking play all game and you’re blaming the refs

Actually if talau reaches over and extends his arm we go up 10-0. No team will ever win a game with 42% possession and has a 12-6 penalty / restart differential.

Is it Mcguires fault we make crucial errors that lead to tries? His fault we can’t hang onto the ball. Is it his fault our halves have only one trick and that is to put a bomb up that never gives the chasers a chance to get there?

what happened to Blore? he was off after ten mins? I did not see him go off.

He was gassed pretty quick. I can see why Madge hasn’t played him much.

Not fit enough to carry in the team each week. Hopefully big offseason from him and stefano.
