Thinking about getting a Merc A Class hatch.

What do u reckon @hobbo1 ?

Depends on your budget Demps - I think Merc are decent, but a bit over rated. If you genuinely like driving - BMW definitely have a better connection and feel with the road. New VW Golf just dropped but they look too vanilla on the outside. If your budget doesn't extend beyond the base model A-class, then consider a Ford Focus - much better 3 cylinder engine than the Merc and BMW for that matter, and far cheaper to run but still fun to drive.

Good advice.

I do like the Focus.
Don't do much driving tbh.
But thinking about the next car.

Use to be quite into Nissans, but they seem to now compete against the Koreans more so than the other Japanese companies.
Currently

Tesla Model 3 Long Range. 1 1/2 years old no issues
Passat R36 Wagon. 10 years old, actually built in Germany, had a diesel one before that was built in South Africa, the difference is quite noticeable.

Needing a new 7 seater, good old tarago is almost due for retirement.


The Kluger is a good 7 seater. Lots of space and reliable.
Base models were 40K about a year ago. Not sure what they are now. There seems to be a wait on most new cars and 2nd hands ones are expensive atm.

In truth Im off Toyota and am drawn to the Pajero Sport at the mo, We do more and more National Parks and its diesel.

The Mrs hates it cause it doesn't have a sun roof.. LOL

For Me I fancy the Peugeot 508 Wagon, Its different

Fast forward from Back in May

The Good old Tarago is still out front and hardly gets a go these Lockdown Days.

Evidently the waits on new cars ridiculous these days anyway

my wife owns a C-Class whereas I run a Skoda Octavia RS - it's cheaper to run than her car, and better equipped.

I bought my son a Skoda Fabia about 6 months ago - great little car. Looks really sporty and goes well enough for a P plater. Super cheap to run with 1 litre turbo. My wife liked it so much we bought her a Skoda Scala. It's such a nice little car with everything you can think of, they really are clever cars. The 1.5 turbo in the Scala is really snappy for a small car.

I have a 2018 Holden Equinox - I use it to tow the boat. Vastly underrated car and way better than my previous 3 Forrester XTs. When the time comes I'd give a lot of consideration to an Octavia VRS.

My daughter has an i30 - it's a nice little car too.

My last grandparent passed away last night.
He was 93 and spent the last 10 years living back in the homeland of the Middle East...

Bought my Mrs a Hyundai Tuscan,has about as much power as James Tamou.
Had a Ford Ranger for work that was pretty sweet ,but my boss sold it and bought a Triton,huge downgrade imo
My mums neighbour has a 1988 BMW e30 M3 rusting away in the backyard .dude is pretty old and doesn’t have much family.always wanted to see what he wants for it.

Don't despair, have Pac Performance at Revesby upgrade it with a 13BBT from billet. It should liven things up a little and the kids will love it. Bye bye people mover, hello sports car!
