Your Tigers side vs Knights

1\. Tedesco
2\. Koroibete
3\. Lawrence
4\. Ayshford
5\. Nofoaluma
6\. Marshall
7\. Miller
8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Anasta
12\. Pettybourne
13\. Blair

14\. Moltzen
15\. Fulton
16\. Murdoch-Masila
17\. Fotuaika

18\. Bell
19\. Thompson

We need more leg speed and impact in our forwards. BMM and Fotuaika were impressive in this regard in the State Cup trial.

Moltzen and Fulton on the bench pretty much cover every contingency outside our Front Row rotation.

Nofoaluma gives us more speed out wide while still offering good hit-ups and tackle breaking ability.

Highly doubt Potter will throw in 5 relative rookies (Tedesco, Koroibete, Nofoaluma, Miller and Fotuaika) for Round 1 though. I believe these kids are all good enough. Give them all the first 4 rounds and we should have an indication if they are ready.

It's a shame soni pasi is hurt the way he hits the line could show the others how it is suppose to be done instead of run arounds, spin and get pushed back

Utai is unlucky to miss out. I considered having him on the bench to act as a pseudo prop to run at the tired pigs late in each half, but should really look at bringing on the younger props early on in the piece as we will have bugger all depth in the front row with Gavet and Groat injured.

Given potters comments I think this is more likely…

1\. Tedesco

I'd prefer Teddy at fullback , but that makes a bit of sense Preston Campbell used to play wing and float around the field waiting for any half break

Teddy handle playing wing B&W in your opinion ??

Who would he be marking Naiqama or Uate ?
Tedesco played a few games there in his junior days I believe…Can tackle, jump for a high ball and run so should be OK...what else do wingers need ? lol

Most wingers need a hair brush ,mirror and a huge ego

Teddy doesn't fit that image does he ??

Tedesco played wing for a while when he came across Nofoaluma in juniors, who was rated higher initially as a fullback. Teddy surpassed him and forced Nofoaluma to become a gun centre. We're talking a handful of games though. Can't see why he couldn't do it though. He'd be as effective as Ryan/Utai or Lote at this stage I dare say.

Like in years gone by the team that should be picked and the team that is picked will be two different things.

Not much they can do with the pack, due injuries and lack of choice the backs on the other hand need a real injection of speed. Aysford and Utai goneski and maybe Teddy or Nofo on the wing and Simona or Brien into the centres. We are not going to beat any teams through the forwards so we need to get a special backline up and going and the plodders we have now will not get the job done

I think you will find McManus will be on Wing with uate.
He was returning from injury hence limited game time.
I think nAiqama may pressure for a start later in the year though.

I know Naiyaravaro had a shocker in the Foundation Cup but I think our wing needs to be someone with height and speed and unfortunately Utai ain't got that anymore and Tuqiri seems to not be fit. Feel free to not give him the ball but at least he'll do damage on kick returns/outjump most dudes/have the speed to run down backrowers that bust the line.

1\. Tedesco - even at half pace a better option than Moltzen
2\. Koroibete
3\. Lawrence
4\. Ayshford
5\. Utai/Someone tall who can catch a high ball
6\. Marshall
7\. Miller
8\. Buchanan
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Blair - I guess…
12\. Fulton
13\. Anasta

14\. Pettybourne

17\. Some big kid from the lower grades

Read that Woods, BMM and Sironen probably wouldn't be there for round 1 else I would have them all there. Tigers For Life.

Ashyford, Utai and Miller given a couple of weeks to perform if not be replaced. We need some stability.

Last year we saw too many changes in the halves so I want players to be given a full opportunity to redeem themselves before changes need to be considered.

I have changed my team after seeing that BMM is available and the press conference.

I would put Anasta to half back after watching the performance of the foundation cup. Mainly because we are back to the same old story as last year. Miller barely touched the ball in the second half and the only time he did have more involvement was when Iosefa was on and Farah off.

I think that whilst Farah continues to be too dominant from hooker i.e. calling plays, kicking, effectively playing like a half back, Miller will never really get to be a proper half for us. It's not his fault its just that when Robbie controls the first 3 tackles of the set than swings the ball to Marshall on the next, Miller actually doesnt get an opportunity to be involved.

If you watch the foundation cup this is exactly what happened most sets. When Iosefa came on Miller actually seemed more confident in calling the ball and getting more touches which looked really nice when he combined with Benji.

I think moving Anasta to half where he will be more dominant in calling for the ball we will start to play like a proper team that has fluency between the 9, 7, 6.

I am not saying that Anasta is a better half than Miller i just think that it will take Miller alot longer to feel confident enough to tell Robbie what to do and for Robbie to trust him that he can setup the structure of the team. If you put Anasta there straight away you know he will get the ball and lay it on for a froward rather than Robbie drifting out of dummy half and then turning the ball back in.

The other benefit of this is it will give Robbie more opportunities to take advantage of lazy ruck play. At the moment because we dont have a half back it is too easy for the defence to read Robbie. He isnt making the breaks he was back in 2005\. I think this is because most of the time he could pass it to Princey and than have a dart catching the defence off guard. He has become too central now to the attack which is great because he is creative but at the same time has limited his impact because he is too predictable.

Another benefit is that it gives us a really strong option on both sides of the park. Anasta and Benji are both good play makers with good passing and kicking.

And it means we have a stronger defensive side. Having Anasta instead of Miller there gives us the opportunity to have Fulton on the park to clean up the ruck for the bigger forwards. As most of us saw on the weekend we still have a small pack and having both Anasta and Fulton on there at the same time is really a waste of one person.

I know some people will not agree with this but just ask yourself if you were lining up against our backline who would you want on either side of the ruck… Miller and Benji or Anasta and Benji?

I think its pretty obvious and despite it being a make shift position which we have done in the past the difference between 6 and 7 is minimal unless they are both playing on the same side of the ruck in which case Anasta has a great long pass to ge Benji on the outside of the defence.

Thoughts?
