Cows wanted Lucy early so they can complete their roster and front load most of his 3 year salary with their remaining cash this year. Waiting for the tigers to pay half his salary was the clincher.
I don’t see him starting over Gilbert or Nanai. Though with Gilbert headed to Dolphins next year he could work his way into his spot. But I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t start for them off the bench. Till he gets used to their play style.

Straight up , if he left because of Madge he need only look in the mirror for someone to blame . He had been no shorter than horrific for weeks. And if he wasn’t tanking , when it sure looked like he was , then he has been horrific enough , that even if he stayed , I’d be looking to drop him.
And if he was tanking , and is angry at us for getting rid of Madge , then that’s some serious mental gymnastics going on to have no culpability.
Bottom line is , he’s gone now , and his edge has been that bad defensively and in attack btw , that it’s not obvious if we are going to miss him IMO

Wanted to move from 20s to the top job but it didn't work out.

I thought Payten was rumoured to have white-anted Paul Green while Payten was Cowboys 20’s coach. Then it was Seibold who was rumoured to have white-anted Madge. I could have my white-ant memory completely mixed up though. Was a while back.

Luciano was one of the massive lowlights of the doco, for me personally.

Just clowning around like an amateur whilst we're getting flogged on field.

The whole doco, interviews with him and Mbye... who were straight out the door as soon as they could. Massive bad look imo.

Happy with this move despite it appearing like we're getting the bad end of the deal.

I just hope we start making some moves to replace these turncoats soon...

I’m not sure what is going on but wow I can’t believe they just let him go , shows how weak we are , I’m even not sure bringing Sheens back is a good idea as he’s been away many years the game has changed and bringing juniors through has not worked , most clubs just poach , , letting Lucy go with zero return is weak and after all these years of no finals footy he declares we are ona 5 year rebuild and develop , I think they have forgotten where they are , it’s in the NRL. I definitely have lost a touch of respect for LL but I understand why this has happened. He has been our best forward this whole year, especially the start of the year. He didn't let us down much in the last 2-3 years he's been here. He was all effort. This man deserves to play Finals football and an opportunity presented himself. I'm happy to put last week's performance as an outlier, but have lost some respect for him.

The bigger issue is our club and always will be. Moses, Aloiai, Luciano, Cleary, Taupau, Matterson etc... we can't just keep blaming others. All of them (bar LL) are massive scums but the club needs to change a lot. Players are not happy here, coaches don't seem happy here. It seems like a depressing environment to work in. They either come here as a last chance or use us as a stepping stone to a better team. We get good juniors come here because they see it as a quick way to get to First grade.

When this stuff keeps happening to us, we need to look inwards.

That’s the real issue .
But I remember the year we got tapau and gavet , and no one knew who they were outside of a few dogs guys. .
They really gave our bench some starch that year .
My point is , there’s players out there like Luciano in 20 if we are honest who can take the leap , and are under valued at thier club .

Will be interesting to see how this one pans out. I understand letting him go to be honest. The seasons gone, he’s off next year anyway and it gives us the chance to blood some young players or bring in someone else. Hope we got some sort of financial benefit out of this from NQ.

Not sure if you can front-load contracts and still remain with a squad under 30 players for the rest of the year? Someone on here might know a bit more than I do on that.

If we don’t have to recruit, we may just front load a bad contract to give us more space next year eg. Brooks.

My other thought is that maybe something is happening in the background with a decent recruit. Say for example Bulldogs want Thompson’s contract off their books….they could offer to pay a percentage of his contract for a few years. We get him onboard for the remainder of the season and front load some of his contract also with this years cap. Making him a more affordable and attractive option.

Another option may be Lodge as he was rumoured to 200k to play for a club for the remainder of the year.

Pretty sure Payten offered him at the start of the year.
