Justin Matamua #259

I'd be playing him and Matamua the rest of the year and think about giving Tumeth a run as well as long as it's not considered to be too early or detrimental to their development.

correct, we had enough of plodders like Tamou, Twal, and Seyforth,
they shall be allowed to test the market, the same as Mikaele

Matamua seems to have potential and it's OK to develop young players at this point of a dead season, but his penalties are costing games.
Against Panthers he cost a try with an obstruction and conceded a penalty in the set that led to the winning Panthers try.

He's only 19 and still learning, and we are missing injured forwards, but is he ready for 1st grade?

If he doesn’t get the experience we’ll never know.

dead season and winning games who cares ???
moving up or down the ladder does nothing

lets just keep playing him and see if he improves

No where near it
- at the moment, it feels we’re playing these kids for the sake of playing these kids…
he’s enthusiastic out there - but he’s rudderless. This kid was playing sg ball a few weeks back - put him back to 20’s with his mates, give him a few games in cup and a full pre season with the top squad.
Everyone wants to give the kids a shot - no one will admit it can also do them more harm than good

Potential maybe one day but lack of game smarts and discipline cost us the game possibly 2 in a row although I thought last weeks sin binning was a bit harsh

Simple development eh.

Not thrown in the deep end, ala Matt Groat.

Releasing Luciano, some injuries and the failings of Peachy have put us in a desperate place though.

Offa and Pole have been shining lights though.

It is all part of learning. It may be that he is sent back to NSW Cup to work on his game as he is now aware of the standard in the NRL. Hopefully Tumeth gets the call up to get the same experience,

This is all a dress rehearsal for next season, and is exactly what they should do. Brandy and bwaife said it before the game today, in their quote ‘why wouldn’t you’. I thought Justin was poor today, but not unexpected. The more time he gets in the grade the better, hopefully losing doesn’t become a habit though. I agreed with paws bring tumeth in the next few weeks. As it stands we have very few second towers for next season, so grading these good young players up will cut huge amounts of time of their development.

Feel sorry for the youngsters. The pack has never been dominant, we weaken it further by letting players go and don't replace them, and then lose Twal and Stef a youngster himself for the season. Add to that Garner/ Kelma committed to clubs elsewhere - hardly the ideal environment to throw a young bloke in to carry out a dominant role with minimal support around them.
This club just seems incapable of assembling a decent pack. So sick of talking about Brooks when consistently for years the pack gets dominated.
