How about we vote for a forum representative, get that person as a Wests Ashfield member, have everyone from the forum sign up as a Wests Ashfield member, then lobby insanely hard to vote that person to the Wests Board?
I nominate myself. I am a WA member and I am a very smart dude.
Can I also say, honestly and in response to myself, even if my suggestion here is simultaneously genuine and tongue-in-cheek (i.e. it could possibly be done, and probably will never happen), I can tell you being such a person, the "members' representative" on the Tigers Board, would be a thankless and depressing volunteer's job.
Even with The Ambush efforts, which is just a group of fans trying to provide better game-day experiences for members and fans, in consultation with the club, we have copped a fair amount of nay-saying and sometimes criticism.
Some forum people even get annoyed when Joel and Co post about their podcast on this forum, and get annoyed that Joel has his own separate forum, when neither of those things should be a problem to anyone.
So imagine really putting in all that work to get yourself installed as a member-backed Board appointment, and then inevitably have half the fans call you out for not making a difference (being one person on an 8-man board) or for not implementing an individual fan's own personal preferences.
Or even worse, being accused of being a shill or sycophant as you try to work with these other groups. It already happens now, when for example I cannot possibly defend or dare to speak positively about Tigers staff, for example Pascoe or Hartigan, without some people being compelled to howl you down. And most of those people never actually having met Pascoe or Hartigan, never worked with them or heard their side of the story.
It would end up thankless and depressing, unless by some miracle it coincided with continuous finals appearances for the first grade side.
