Isaiah Papali’i #265

But champion @Cultured_Bogan, there's no reason yet to react from the club's perspective.
Contract is binding and any action by WT would only be necessary if the terms of the contract were contravened.

Of course. The WT hold all the cards.

All I am saying is that the club has caved many times before, why wouldn't Papa and his management try their luck as well?

Its obvious reading his language and expressions yes when Parras finals campaign is over he will sit down with his manager and see what options he has to get out of the contract and weigh up the options against the consequences . Tim needs to stand firm his contract is binding ,A lawyer could go on about terms and conditions being misrepresented or some other bs but to no avail . Our problem is if he comes to concord as a reluctant inductee. Signings total for 2022 = Naden ( dogs needed to offload)
Apart from that Zero hope it doesn't become minus 1
But not to worry Lee says a lot of work has been done behind the scenes on recruitment and retention

Interestingly, since moving to Bears/ Chooks, Gildart’s defence has been outstanding. Missed only 1 tackle in 3 games. Also scored 5 tries.
Showed plenty of pace, coming from a long way to run down Cody Walker in the last few minutes.
It’s almost a given that players improve by going to another team, but what happens when they return?
Hopefully he has improved because he has finally found the knack of playing NRL.

His body language says he doesn't want to come, its that simple, and we know from before they wont make him. Where you have Api saying he is looking forward to the challenge and he is commited.

Starting to look like Munster will go to dolphins in 2024 if so AD may well end up at Storm after next season. Looks like 2023 is going to be a one-off, messed up, stepping stone type season with a lot of changes to follow it also.
Sheens will be looking for a replacement for Papalii as well coz I don’t think we’ve seen the end of that saga. Paps will do anything to back out if he can.
I finally just watched his interview and it sent shivers up my spine. Irrespective of Parra finals push the guy asked him to respond to WT fans who are waiting on tenterhooks.
All we got was crickets.
And toward the end when he said he would sit down and discuss with his manager, I heard that as, “ are there any escape clauses in the deal”.
Not what you want from a new recruit being seen as a turning point for us. Unlike API who is all systems go !
IMHO it seems like it’s gonna get ugly.
Hope Tim and O have a plan B.

Yes I just watched and it's like he knows his not coming but has been asked to keep it quite.
It's a f'ing joke and a franchise turning point IMO so if the club back down we are a joke.
Why else would he keep saying what he says as its not hard to say Yes I'm going .
I only hope Parra get pumped this weekend

If he doesn't come its saying to all players on the market now or in the future beware of going to tigers its a PR disaster . I suspect Tim &Co are having a horrendous time trying to improve our roster

Why do the media keep beating on about this ?

1. He signed a contract with the Tigers, No get out clause due to coach etc. even if he doesn't want to be here he will have to honour or sit out 3 years or go back to NZ on compassion

2. Sheens is in charge, he has said Isiah will be at the tigers next year, Sheens is stubborn and an old head cant see him just letting Isiah leave.

3. He is playing in the semi's for the Eels, there is no reason for him talk about next year at all TBH even if he doesn't give us an answer that we like.

If he turns up for pre season he turns up, if he doesn't then good luck to him trying to justify why he wants out of his contract with WT, club has to show some back bone on this one.
Clickbait that’s why the media keeps bringing up the subject about WT’s contract, the media know we have a large fan base it’s all about clickbait.

Good to hear. My thinking is there's a lot of WT fans watching this to ensure our club stares down any attempt by Parra or Paplli'i to backflip. A backdown by our Club would be viewed very poorly.
I would not renew my two full season memberships if they release him as it would show the club does not care as much as we all do.

I could not say I won’t follow them as it is indoctrinated into me from a young age. I would watch them on TV rather than go to each game.

May not mean much to the club , however this year they showed they were about money not results and we got the spoon when we could have fought to not have it with our full squad available rather than a fire sale to get some more coin that we cannot spend anyway.
