The only existing player I see as a potential halves option is Laurie, but only as a 6. Partly because he is casual. This rubs some people the wrong way, but he doesn't seem fazed when he makes mistakes. When this happens to Brooks and AD they go into a shell.

If I were Laurie I’d go to the coach and ask for it, tell him the current 7 is shite and the team needs better.

How many poker games is rusty gunna lose to Jack up at Nana Glen to cover the gap. Do they do it over a series of games or just get the mil done in one night, it’s a conundrum.

Have zero issues with Daine. If anything, I do feel for him losing his spot. He was very reliable, not on mega coin and lots of pottential. I’d do anything to keep the bloke a wests tigers player.
On Noffa, he leaked as many as he scored.
Watching Toa and Staines hold their nerves and line defending was really pleasing. In the same situation Noffa was leaving his mate hanging most times. Either would be too far back, not trusting him or doing his own stuff.
He is a really good attacking player and I don’t have an issue there, with his ability to defend, he is a deadset liability.

On topic of dissing our own players, invite you to read my posts over however many years, I always stand by the Shrek whilst most are out with their pitchforks.

And to add, Noffa isn’t the only one who is a liability in defence, AD is equally rubbish. At least Brooks flattens some, AD does the arm grabbing.

I remember Benji was labelled the Turnstile, even with his busted shoulders over the years the bloke was never shy of making a tackle.

That's why all players should be individually valued by an independent panel. You can sign Wighton for 50 bucks but we're still valuing him at $1 million. It's the only way a salary cap can work.
The position he's signed to play is irrelevant if the market values him differently.

Yes, Sheens openly admitted to wanting to play Hastings at 13. And I think you are right, it would have been the perfect foil to his coaching. It was evident on Sunday he still likes to run the plays the same way. The runaround and double up options to confuse the defensive line.

I’m really surprised, Hastings claimed to be a Team man, even flew to GC with his own money to watch the Team yet he didn’t want a bar of 13 and wanted to stick solid in the halves. Even more bizarre, when we signed him, all media outlets were saying he would most likely play 13. Meh.

Canberra are wasting their time, south's are the NRLs love child, but it's wrong Canberra set his market value at 1.1m that's what south should have Been made to pay, this salary cap as a means to even out the talent is a total wank,unfortunately clubs like us, Canberra will never flourish under this corupt regime
 
How do we compete with the mega wealthy owners of other clubs?
My hobby is pinball and I buy machines with my spare cash. These guys have rugby league as a hobby and buy players. Their media mates spread the "players want to go there for less" myth and suddenly it's "move along nothing to see here".

Yeah makes a lot of sense. It’s not always about the $$$. There is a cultural connection that matters more. What happened to our Indigenous program? They made a big thing of it a few years ago when we had James Roberts and had just signed Laurie. Haven’t heard anything recently.

It may not be about the dollars to the player and thats fine if he is willing to forgo a million to play there. Its about what the market value of that player is. 2 clubs have offered over a million more than souths so its pretty fair to say souths are paying way under market value. If the cap was fair souths could pay him anything they wanted but the market value should be what they get hit with on their cap. Its becoming a bit of a joke that every high profile player takes way unders to play at an elite club. Even had the farce of Demitriou saying his high profile players would take a pay cut to get Wighton. What absolute bs.
