LIVE GAME Trial 1 vs. Warriors

Live Game Discussion
Bula the main offender, I fear we are paying him about 500k too much, particularly when players such as Tristan Sailor and young Papali’i from the Bulldogs are exceptional talents who will not likely play regular NRL this season.
Your bias against Bula always stands out for me… the guy is 20 games into his career playing with a brand new halves combo

Agree with most.

Don’t agree on TDS he struggled a heap defensively.

Sullivan did his job when Sezer was on but when Sezer was off looked ordinary especially in attack but that might have been the plan just sit back and let the kids make decisions.
I was extremely impressed with TDS, constantly tackling , competing and covering for the lazy forwards he was on the field with.

Potentially but the guy who receives it also needs to contribute by running the right angle and positioning his body correctly to take advantage of any space that presents. I see too many guys just running into people. We lack footballers.
We used to call it run at spaces not faces !
Solid outing with plenty of improvement to come but thought the first half showed us something.
Our 2 props ran hard and straight whilst Ice looked like he was having a dip.
I don’t care if Sezer is 32, he’s still got a footy brain and will add extra composure.
Interesting to see the team for next week.
PS. Really glad I didn’t bet !

I saw Da Silva doing a heal of tackling and competing on every play, quite often covering for the lazy forwards who were playing alongside him.
An absolute gun and star in the making,

He was also being called back a heap by the ref to the point he stepped back letting the warriors make a half break, 2 tackles later they scored.

We need to be fair. TDS was 3rd of the hookers today. Api owned the start. Jake was ok also with some darts, defended well & made most tackles on the park then was TDS.

A Trail is just that a trail and nothing else, All we should take out of this is lazy defending, wrong option in defence, how to hole run when you have the ball, and how to use a side step when running with a ball.
The only thing i learnt from todays game is Junior Tupou needs to stay in reserve grade and the slug Kepo needs to be dumped as well.

I like Jake Simpkin, he plays tough, well above his weight and defends strongly.
But he’s no attacking threat, I believe our bench should ideally offer attacking threat, therefore I think TDS is more valuable to us as a bench player.
In saying this I think Latu Fainu might be our 14 as he’s much more versatile than both of them.

It’s surprising to hear you are “extremely impressed” with him today. He was ok but we need Api to play until the end of 25 as our first choice.
No doubt about that, but I don’t think Api is up to playing 80 minutes each week these days, so we need someone capable to replace him while he’s having a rest.

I only watched the first half but my twopence worth:
While the first graders were on we looked better in defense than last year - except for Kepoa racing out and leaving a huge gap for their first try.

Sezer a much better controlling half than Brooks ever was (only took one trial)

Faataape?? Looked good considering a short off season.

Stefano looked better also after just one start.

Api all class.

Seyforth looked good too. Bit of a surprise.

The Warriors all looked taller, wider and faster than we were after our first graders were taken off but heh we still won.

1-0 in 2024 yay

I think the soft underbelly was exposed when Api, Stef, Klem and Seyfarth went off as they were very good. Stef and Seyfarth seem to have had a great off season.

Really impressed with Sezer as I expected him to be just catch and pass but he looked quite dangerous and I think his short kicking game will produce points once we start the competition proper.

Samuela Fainu seems like the type who will spend 12 on weeks on the field and as much time off it through suspension but did appear very willing when in the field.

I am a bit concerned with Staines. His returns are very willing from wing but he gets manhandled. I think he is a cup player who fill in a variety of positions. Lobb was more impressive to me.

Sullivan is an off the cuff type player who will inject himself when he sees opportunities. Doesn’t appear to be a name manager.

Willet and Fataape look to have good potential as does Mason.

You're kidding aren't you - our best 13 in this trial which won't be our starting 13 come rnd 2 played for about 20 mins.
Did you read what I said?
it was concerning because most of the warriors starting 3 didn’t play at all…

They played longer than 20
Minutes and when there was a man down, we should have been better than we were
