Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We can't go for anyone until we clear cap space, from what I know we are close to over it now, hence why Richo was overseas trying to offload some of the roster. Unfortunately for us players have so far dug their heels in and are opting to stay,,, Naden and Sullivan are two that he had homes for but their manager who is Mario Tartak is hanging in trying to force our hand in having us chip in which would contribute towards our salary cap. I used to think Isaac Moses was the issue at the tigers but Tartak has a lot of say because of the numbers he has embedded in the club, last count he had 10 or 11 players of our Top 30 roster which is huge.
Tartak is Scott Fultons right hand man.....for some reason our Cap seems to ALWAYS be in a crap position and restains us from signing talent that comes on the market...yet the Dogs and Roosters sign players at will...Gus managed to completely turn over his roster in 2 years...TPG left withouit a payout only to return to the NRL less than 12 months later....

So true with what you said about Gus and the dogs. And he did it with getting players that were more utilities but have a crack and most times punch above their weight. He has put them back in a position where the club and fans morale is getting boosted regularly. Wish we could turn it in around soon.

Richo said we had a $1m to spend next year … not including Stef … they moved on Ice so there is $700k

You make it sound like these players are the bad guys in this scenario. If I was lucky enough to negotiate a contract on overs, I would not walk away from it for practically anything.

So how do we get good rep players to come here for $700k a year, when the Roosters and Souths are offering the same money
We don't. We stop trying to get rep players to come here & heavily invest in our juniors to lead us forward. We sign players who can fill in & do a job for the time being but not ones who will block the path of the kids coming through. It's only once you do all this that the club will improve & then you will be able to sign rep players on those sorts of unders. But the hope is you develop these rep players rather than sign them.

You can’t, hence the reason why it’s so important retain the good emerging players we already have and why it’s so important to at least consider giving an opportunity to good quality players unwanted at their current clubs for various reasons.

that’s great if you can keep the top juniors …which we know has been problematic in the past ..

It’s also a very slow process to improve the team …. Untilmately the idea is to compete in the finals and win premierships… not just make up the numbers like they have been doing a while now ..

This seems to be the path they have chosen though …

Problematic in the past? The retention or the production of juniors. Lets be succinct.

When you are a bottom 4 team & have been for a while now it probably is the best way forward but you're right in saying that is a very slow process to improve the team. Penrith have shown though that this model works & it is the best way to set up long term sustainable success. Personally, I don't think we're that far away as people think.
