Hats off to all the people who went to Pratten Park. Like the petition last year people power knocks down walls. Watching the media coverage of the event, it has been very pro the fan base and the HBG has taken a massive PR hit.

All eyes will be on the HBG group so they will be under great pressure to be transparent and for once act in the interests of the club and not their own. Of course there is a chance once the dust settles it will be back to their old ways, but I think they now know they are under a spotlight. As fans we have to keep up the fight
 
I respect people’s passion for this, but if I’m being honest, it felt a little cringy seeing it on the news. Just adds to the circus that is the club we support. To the average Joe Blow who doesn’t follow this or care, it looks like just another day in Tigertown.

Paton and Fallah have both stated they do not have to fund this if they don’t want to.
I very much doubt they are intending or wanting to cut the funding, but more of a statement to say if they continue to be painted as villains long term without an opportunity to do things right, funding they are not required to make could come under question.

I’m starting to see this from the Wests/Magpies/Ashfield side (a little). They have acted in goodwill for a long time to keep the Balmain disaster from sinking. They didn’t have to do that. That’s not to say they got nothing in return.

Moving forward. How do Wests Tigers fans deliver respect? Genuine question.

We (the many thousands of WT fans) are not Balmain. But I can see that side of the argument.

We want an independent WT Board.

What do you want?

Well, just quietly, V, I reckon PVL hopes that happens so that he can remove the licence and move it on to a more worthy player, via an interim NRL administration.

It's what leagues clubs "should", "Often" and "can" do.
They can also plough all their money into real estate. I.e. Panthers over 7 years ago was buying up land like no tomorrow. Gus changed their focus back to league.

TLDR: HBG don't 'have' to throw all their profit at us.
They "should" fund us, the club patreons want too. I believe it's the right board decision to do so.

But, technically and legally they don't have too. If they wanted to play really stupid they could throw all their money into Magpies in the junior grades and just ignore the first grade side. I believe their would be a bigger riot then there currently is, but it is still possible that HBG take their ball and go home. I think that's Vicious's point.

Heck I will recognise the HBG contribution while calling out their stupidity for destablising the club. I do believe PVL should have taken far stronger action on Dennis and others but he did not.
Perhaps it was out of fear of HBG pulling out their funding?

PVL has them dining at the last chance saloon. Pulling the funding for the balmain juniors would be the last decision the HBG would make for the WT.

They have no right to be upset, no. If HBG was doing their job there would be no need for protests.

Protests are lawful and reasonable.

Fallah seemed mostly upset they protested at Prattan Park, which happens to be an asset of Cumberland Council, not the personal property of Wests Ashfield.

And threats to cut Balmain spending when a significant number of protesters are old Magpies supporters.

Fallah and co are framing this as a Balmain vs Magpies thing, too incompetent to understand it's a Wests Tigers vs Wests Ashfield thing.

They've had 25 years mate and 11 of those as sole owners. What more proof do you need?

And what are their qualifications? They don't need qualifications, they just need to have paid some money and earned some votes.

That's the problem.

Whay is, for example, Allan Fallah's professional skillset to bring to running Wests Ashfield or Wests Tigers?
 
How do we appease the Magpies enough for them to let independent people run Wests Tigers?

- let them design the Campbo WT jersey
- let them run and profit from Campbo games
- honour their proud history at Campbo games
- make the Magpies more prominent on the jersey
- keep the reserve grade side as the magpies and pump money into growing it’s brand

I don’t actually know what they want, but it’s worth having the conversation.

If they think it’s only 300 old Balmain fans that are fed up, I think they’re wrong.

You might as well stop. Fair enough you dont think HBG have done much wrong or should be given the benefit of the doubt to keep trying.

Most fans don't agree with you. You're not going to argue people around to suddenly thinking HBG should be offered more leniency.

It doesn't help that you are an old Magpies man and probably more biased than old Balmain or young WT fans.

I would like to hope if this was Balmain Leagues doing all the recent damage I'd be just as scathing, but it's not Balmain Leagues and the hypothetical gets us nowhere.

And if anyone is threatening to cut funding to the kids in Balmain district, or wanting a mickey mouse badge for funding junior footy in that district, it just goes to show how petty and unprofessional they are.

Funding Balmain district should be an automatic obligation of the merger, not a carrot you dangle in front of your trusted minority partners.

I was there, i saw one magpies jersey and one old fella in a magpies polo shirt. About 5 balmain jerseys....the other 99% wests tigers gear. But hey, lets conveniently ignore the 99% to support our push to make this divisive and to make ourselves the victim.
