A crucial period for Madge...

I don't think our pack is building nicely at all. And I doubt a rookie from Parra is gonna make any difference.

At the end of the day a fair portion of our squad have reached their ceiling, they've had multiple coaches, we've got better high performance trainers on board this year and for players like Benji, Brooks, Joey L, Eiso, Reynolds, Packer, I could name more but there's no point, they just aren't going to improve, and they're not improving the team. We need to produce/buy more talent but there's slim pickings out there for next year. 2022 is realistically when we can attract some top shelf talent.

Everyone is very harsh... Check these stats out.

Panthers ****51**** set to 34
Panthers **6** -3 penalty count
Panthers 6 again calls **8**-1
Panthers 387 tackles to us at ******468******
Panthers running metres 1902m to us at 1090m

Yes we made some errors and let ourselves down and need to work on discipline. However with this amount of possession the Panthers would of put 50pts past most teams tonight. Most guys tried there arses off so to keep it to 30 (try in the last min also) is not terrible.
I hate losing as much as anyone and have been calling for a team clean out but gee wiz if we got a fair share by the ref we might have pulled it off. Panthers all night were laying on us in the play the balls, kept pushing us back after the ref called held, offside all night yet we only got 1 x 6 again call all night. I'm sorry and i know we need to address our discipline but they were not perfect like the refs think. Yes and this amount of non calls for us does effect the game..

Don't blame Madge as this is the squad he was given ( bunch of lazy experienced players not performing) and he does extremely well holding his tongue in press conferences to stick up for the club and players when deep down he knows they have to go. He needs a medal

They have more sets as our halves have not got fifth tackle options right for years. Brooks has done the same poor short bomb without effect all season. Of Madge is not telling him to do it, why has it not been stopped?

Apparently we had a player question for not playing to game plans.

This is where it is hard for us to know.

IF madge has asked brooks to do that same dud kick to the corner all season...instructed him...then it is on Madge and we have a right to judge his lack of tactical nous as it has failed to work all year.

If it is just Brooks being completely hopeless and getting the 5th tackle wrong over and over again, then it on Brooks.

But we don't know.

Maguire could tinker with Tigers in bid to get early start on 2021

With his side's finals hopes all but done, Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire will consider making selection changes over the final rounds with a view to the future.

Saturday's 30-6 loss to ladder leaders Penrith at Panthers Stadium leaves the Tigers six points adrift of the eighth-placed Sharks so they'll need a miracle to break an eight-year finals drought.

"I'll definitely be looking at [picking the team with a focus on the future]. I want to be able to see the depths of some of the people we have in the organisation," Maguire said.

"I've got a really committed group that's been training underneath us. I'll have a look and assess it. At the end of the day, whoever puts the jersey on has got to go out and compete and that's something I'll continually instil."

Star loan hooker Harry Grant returned from a knee injury, playing 58 minutes as he shared time with Jacob Liddle.

Maguire was satisfied with how his dummy-halves combined but said he would weigh up giving Liddle a bigger role given Grant is expected to return to Melbourne next year.

The Tigers started fast against Penrith, scoring the first try through David Nofoaluma, and Maguire liked the desire his side showed.

However, he admitted there was a noticeable class gap.

"I know what we need to do and where we need to get to. We've just got to keep our heads down and keep working towards it," he said.

"Obviously [finals] opportunities are closing and closing, but ... where we want to make sure we get to is where Penrith are currently.

"You could see the effort and that's one thing. It's having the effort there week-in, week-out."

Asked about the fiery nature of the contest and the growing rivalry between the Panthers and Tigers, Maguire said: "There was a lot on the line there for us tonight. That was our season.

"You need to turn up every week, no matter who you play, whether it's rivalry or not. It's a competitive edge you need to have."

Maguire could have the Panthers squad and still finish outside the 8. It's all about being a good man manager and a creative game plan backed up by quality assistants. He got flicked from Souths and hasn't learnt a thing as to why but knows how to blame the players 🤦‍♂️
Next year will be the same rubbish from him and an extension would be another poor decision from the front office
