Aaron Woods and Matt Groat!

BB

Fifita has a good fend and running at others. Bur font confuse that with overall ability. Fifita is a problem. In defense, attack constantly, and most of all attitude.

Club had the option. Groat, woods or fifita. The club let the weakest link go. We got the better of the 3 .

Nailed on Troy.

Groat & Woods look like good compliments to eachother as well- Woods is the metre gaining prop while Groat looks to have learned how to defend from Todd Payten- get in & make the first hit count.

If the young guys in the 20's are as good as advertised, I guess big Keith might need to start thinking of a return to Shark Park someday soon…

The good thing I see in Woods & Groat is, while they are probably no bigger than the forwards we've had over the last 3-4 years, they play 'big'- hitting hard, making the tackles count, making the metres in traffic. Too often we've had forwards fall on contact with the ball, or arm grab in defence. Not any more.

the Tigers won't be known for having a 'light' pack in the coming years.

Groat has a fantastic ability to read around the ruck.

Very True. But Fifita is a better player.

If Fifita had Groat's attitude he would be a better player, but he doesn't, and Groat at least puts his head down and runs straight and hard rather than crabbing sideways.

groat needs to produce more offensively i know he is young but he is in FG and it is the finals, 20m offense isnt acceptable for first change prop

Being a tragic I have watched the game twice since coming home from ANZ. We definitely looked average during the first half. The great thing to watch during that time, however, is the commitment in defence, and two players who got stuck in with huge hearts were Groat and Woods. Woods has a niggling attitude that really got up the noses of the Saints players. Is he Gibbsy's cousin?
Keeping fit they ccan only get better, and hopefully Dwyer will join them in the back row at some time next year.

Groaty didn't seem his normal self before the game he looked very nervous.

Was a bit worried the occasion might get the better of him but he proved he has what it takes to play NRL for a very very long time he will be awesome next year after this experience and full time training in the off season.

Chadman - there is no way Galloway is going anywhere anytime soon.

IMO it is no coincidence that every time we are struggling to make meters, KG is off the field. He is decisive, and IMO we can't win the comp without him.

I totally agree both groat and woodsy stood tall and did the simple things right last night even when the chips were down…dont think theres any relation to bryce.

I hope Sauce isn't going anywhere anytime soon he is a cornerstone in our pack, I would like to see him play more minutes if possible. GO BIG KEITHY champion!!

It seems pretty obvious that he is often overlooked for the hit up for one of the more experienced players.

His defence was outstanding last night.

Woods has been in great, but I am getting sick of his STUPID penalties and POOR handling. I swear he has had one of each every game for the last month or two.

I disagree stoutly that Fifita is better than either of these guys. Fifita is a fend with legs. He has nothing else. If a player beats his fend he's toast.

…....and he is lazy!

Woods and Groat are much better prospects.

I agree that Woodsey is a regular 1st grade prop now, next year a regular starting prop, Groat has oddles of talent as well and some of the other young guns in the 20's look just as promissing.

I think our forwards are sorted for the next heap of years. Now to slowly rebuild the backline….

what's to re-build? we only need to find a fullback and we're sweet

I like the way they play. No-nonsense style. Woods is a competent and reliable FGer by the end of his debut season. He has his faults but I think they'll leave him soon.

Groat isn't quite as ready as Woods. He seems a bit slower and probably not as strong hit-up wise but the signs are most definitely there.

Together they will play a lot of first grade.

Haha i thought the topic of this was Woods and Groat not lets all pick out every neggative aspect and talk rubbish about Fifita.. some people just cant help themselves always have to be so harsh and degrade one player rather than praising the ones you are ment to be discussing WOODS AND GROAT!!!!!!

I'm glad that we on this forum are given the opportunity to give all accolades to Aaron Woods & Matt Groat. As the first post says these guys sort of came from nowhere & have just put in 100%, and for youngsters that is amazing. They make very few errors and make good yardage - thank God we have them in our team, and they will only get better :master:

Woods will play origin by 2014 and will partner big Keefy in the front row
Groat won't be far behind Woods
Fifita will be flat out getting a contract after 2014
BMM is also going to be something special and I expect him to shine in 2012
Many clubs will be jealous of our batch of young tyro forwards
Add to that Begovich

I'm actually of the opinion that the rookie of the year should have come down to Tariq Sims or Aaron Woods… forwards are harder for a kid to come in and perform consistantly.

Woodsman had a particularly fine game last Friday. Just classy work in his hitups, his offload led to the Ryan try.

Against a team with representative forwards, he showed them all up. Wonderful stint in that second half when we needed it.
