ANZ Stadium Rebuild Cancelled

it would lose plenty i am sure
all the cambo people would not like to go to LO for every game and vice versa the inner city to cambo
as the COE is being built at concord ANZ is the only choice
i dont think the club will be silly enough to alienate its member base to just one area like that they would have the membership records and i am sure plenty of members dont necessarily have all three grounds as membership

The two clubs combining has nothing to do with this thread we are one team but should be played in different areas to maximise supporter base no different to taking a home game to tamworth or new zealand etc
play at ANZ and give one or two games a year to CSS and LO

we are not Wests without a game or two at CSS
we are not tigers without a game or two at LO
it is heritage to play at least one or two games at both venues but it makes sense we are Wests ashfield so ANZ looks the logical option with a training base at concord
otherwise lets train at concord and play at Penrith or central coast stadium

The two clubs merging has everything to do with this. It's the only reason we use LO and CSS. No new club would play out of two grounds. They can't let go.

I think the Wests Tigers management could easily tell which ground their supporters prefer to attend, they know how many members tickets to Leichhardt/Campbelltown they sell each year (excepting this year), how many to ANZ Stadium/Bankwest they sell. They would have those numbers at their fingertips.

I understand though, that which ground a few thousand people prefer to attend probably isn't their main consideration. It's corporate dollars, bigger pictures, and if they disgruntle a couple of thousands fans to follow what the have decided is the best course for the club then I think they should. Wests Tigers has a much bigger fan-base then who attends the games. I suspect our income comes from more than just that also.

I think they should pick a ground, whichever, and make it our fortress. If it's not LO/CSG, then maybe play one game a year (or even one game every two years) at those stadiums for old fashioned rivalry sake.

It seems the arguement has shifted from the need to cement our identity, and success on the field, to now keeping the corporates happy.
Playing out of new stadium shared or not will not bring success on the field. It seems most fans know who we are and continue to support the club even though we have had years of disappointment - and from where ever they live - by buying memberships, from home by watching on the tv, by attending games and or all three.
We are in a good position with the upgrade of our training facilities in the heart of the city - much needed, and by all accounts financially are in the best position we have ever been in. We continue to attract sponsorship despite our dry spell of finals footy. The current situation with grounds in Sydney is fluid and many clubs no doubt are considering a changing situation and how that impacts them -,as no doubt we are.

Whoever said LO/CSS for the out of town opposition home games and ANZ/BankWest for the Sydney opposition home games I think has it right with the grounds in their current state and configurations. I think this maximises the revenue for the club and minimises any losses.

100 of millions of $$ need to be spent Leichhardt and/or Campbelltown to rebuild them to modern accepted standards if that is to ever change. I just cannot see one home ground being practical in the next 5-10 years. With ANZ revamp not going ahead it’s probably going to stay the way it is, multiple home grounds for a very long time.

VLandys is pushing for 100s of millions for knock down and rebuilds for up to 4 stadiums.

That’s what they need. Hope he gets the money.

Hopefully one of our grounds gets it.

Leichardt may get a full blown remake doubt it though unless sydney fc wanted to play at ground too
Likely be CSS with macarthur rams heading there

A minor upgrade of CSS and LO is all that is required. So long as the heritage dunnies at the Northern end of LO remain unaltered, I am happy. 3 games each with the remainder at ANZ or the Football Stadium following its rebuild.

The problem we have, is our home area is so widespread, its hard for all the supporters to travel to both grounds. So it would be best to just have two home grounds. They just need to be developed to hold bigger crowds, and of course parking facilities. If the Government is in favor, then they can open areas for parking facilities, in both areas. This is far better, than going to grounds like ANZ and Bankwest which has no meaning to our supporters. ANZ is just to big, and Bankwest is in Parramatta area.I really think we could easily attract crowds of 20-30K on regular basis if these two grounds were upgraded

ANZ is a dump, always has been. Good move.
How much work has been done on it as far as the rebuild goes?

Im not in agreement that its a Dump, Easy in and out, Easy to get to and move around.

When its full for GF or Origin its pretty good IMO

Its certainly not suited to weekly NRL Games with 15K supporters there.

One minute Leichhardt is being upgraded .....next its Cambo ..while these blokes are waiting to upgrade both they can upgrade my place

Well her govt entered an agreement with the NRL to spend that amount. I'd be backing VLandys on that fight.
A 20k stadium as Homebush would suit 3 clubs, I wonder it that's a possibility.

Are they still going ahead with the Rorters ground?

Yes, because it is not just Easts home ground. Sydney FC and the Waratahs also call it home, plus it is also a major international venue and utilised for concerts as well.

For some reason Sydney FC fans prefer watching them at Kogarah Oval. If they get four home games in a year against Melbourne Victory the Wanderers, LO would not be sufficient to hold it unless it was at least 30K. Otherwise would hold most crowds.

I've watched SFC games at both grounds and I prefer the intimate feel that LO gives, but Kogarah is also a great ground to watch the game at, even if it is an oval stadium.
