Balmain & Western Suburbs Junior Rep Teams 2011

Hey Flash, isnt Moses related to Ben Elias?

Did he play hooker? I think he was playing hooker in the trial against Penrith if I'm not mistaken

How did the our Matthews Cup side go?

thanks for the update i doubt st george will be one of the gun teams this year in hm and sg ball.wonder whether it was fitness or something else in the second half that led to saints comeback in hm.

Lets just say in what was unbearable heat "someone" from Wests only used 2 interchanges in 55 minutes..and then another 2 in the last five minutes…a total of 4 interchanges and you are allowed 12.
We where lucky to be awarded that try in the second half to make it a draw it was an obvious drop ball over the line, the Dragons should have Won.
Best players Sinapati Solia and Adriel Lupeli.

Different story in the SG Ball great coaching by Jason Williams..nice to see the boys running the ball David Nofoaluma, Crete Waaka, Sol Kumuta and James Tedesco had a field day out wide running of those magical Billy Kitt passes ..Nofoaluma scored 5 tries. Shane Lalogafau Andy Fatialofa and Jarrod Szczudlo best of the Forwards...Big test next week against Canterbury.

He only played one half too…....I noticed the trainer with him at the end of the first half and he didnt seem to come back in the second half.....hope everything's ok.

Thats almost criminal….how many were on the bench?

Ive heard of this crap happening at Balmain too....players training all summer to sit on the bench, even when up by 40 in games and still not getting a run

I think there was only 4 on the bench for Wests HM but two of them never got a run..he just interchanged the same 2 players.

They can suit up to 20 players, but can only use a maximum of 17.
They don't have to nominate the 4 reserves before the game but of course once the 4th one is used that's your 17.

The HM side have some good individual players they just need someone with a football brain to guide them in the right direction for example when to passing the ball (If You have a friggen unmarked winger) and also catching the ball (From kickoffs we catch the ball on the full !)…any sort of attempted tackle is a bonus particularly if you are playing left centre, fullback or five eighth.

A big day coming up this Saturday (26 Feb) at Leichhardt!

Both Balmain and Wests playing their Round 2 junior rep matches at the ground, so a great opportunity for fans of the Wests Tigers to see their up and coming stars in action and support both the Tigers and Magpies in very important games for both clubs.

_**Games times are;**_

2:30pm **Harold Matt's (U16)** - Balmain V Canberra
4:00pm **SG Ball (U18)** - Balmian V Canberra

5:25pm **Harold Matt's (U16)** - Wests V Canterbury-Bankstown
6:40pm **SG Ball (U18)** - Wests V Canterbury-Bankstown

Round 2 Results

Harold Matthews
Balmain Tigers 34-12 Canberra Raiders.
Western Suburbs Magpies 12-20 Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs.

SG Ball
Balmain Tigers 34-12 Canberra Radiers.
Western Suburbs Magpies 18-15 Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs.

In the SG Ball both Wests and Balmain remain undefeated and.. are the only 2 undefeated teams in the SG ball comp.

Next week Balmain v Manly and Wests v WA Reds and all the games will probably be at Leichhardt again.

Balmain 34 Canberra 12 SG Ball

Another great display from the Tigers, after a patchy first half (down 12-6) the Tigers really hit their straps in 2nd. Kyle Lovett crossed for 3 tries showing great determination to carry 3-4 defenders over the line with him each time. The injection of Mitchell Moses really got the Tigers going, again his speed out of dummy half left the Canberra defenders saying WTF as he got the Tigers a penalty catching them offside, in the next set he went straight through again from dummy half to link up with Braiden Batiste giving him a clear run to the line. Another terriffic goal kicking display by Shane Beal 5 from 6 that was 12 in a row before missing his final kick.

Looks as though the Balmain Tigers and Wests Magpies are the only sides to have won both weeks so far in the SG Ball, do we dare to dream at this early stage???????

Mitchell Moses has been doing a great job by all accounts (as per the reports on this website) when he comes off the bench, is that how he best serves the team of should he be the starting hooker?

Hey Flash sounds like you were at the match, any deficencies in the side anywhere or are the Tigers well served across the park? Are Balmain the real deal?

If they keep going the way they are I think they should be 1 of the top 4 teams. We won't really know until they play Newcastle and then the Bulldogs.

I heard Western Suburbs NSW Cup team played on Saturday there aswell at 8pm and beat the Bulldogs NSW Cup team.

Round 3 of the Junior Rep season tomorrow.

Danger game for the SG Ball Magpies who take on the Western Australia Reds at Concord Oval (12pm). After a couple of solid wins the Magpies will need to keep their feet firmly on the gtround I think….Long way to go this season.

Harold Matt's Magpies have a bye.

:wtf I wouldn't be too concerned, I think the Reds are in for a thorough hiding. If their backsides weren't red before this game they certainly will be after it.

I think your pretty close to the mark flash. Can't see the Reds troubling the Magpies too much, unless something drastically goes wrong.

At Leichhardt, the Mighty Tigers will have to work hard to overcome a Manly side that really has to win or they may struggle to make the semis in the Ball. I do believe the Tigers will win well in the end.

Get out to Leichhardt ready for the Ball at 11.00am kickoff. If you can manage to drag yourselves out of bed earlier, try to make it to see the Matts game, kickoff there is 9.30am

 :stuck_out_tongue:

I was thinking after two great wins their 17yo heads may have been telling them they just had to turn up to get the points.

I'm happy to say I was wrong….on this occasion!

Back to Campbelltown for the Magpies next week (at this stage anyway :unamused:  )

Terrible stop start game the Wet ground didn't help neither did the 300 penalities and certainly they didn't give the Reds the same respect of previous opposition..It was one of those games where everyone wanted to score and thought they could….

Best Players this week: Hooker-James Luff, Second Rower-Keanu Rogers, Five-eighth-Mitch Brasington and Winger:Jubeelee Teofilo

Whats the go with Harry Grove. He plays fullback/ wing he made the Wests Tigers Cubs 2010 and hasent been seen since. is he in the SG Ball side or development? can some one fill me in. We dient see much of him in HM Cup because of a Broken arm. but i would like to know how hes going. If you have seen him play whats your opinion on him?

Also Sou Kamuta dident play agains Dogs and WA then i herd he was playing Development?

I would have liked to have seen Grove and Kamuta as the two Wests SG Ball wingers this year.

Harry tried out for SG ball but didn't make the final cut and is in the U17's development.
Kamuta I don't know I liked his game against St. George in round 1 but then he got dropped.(Missed training or something)
That only leaves Billy Kitt from HM last year to be playing SG Ball this year.

The benefits of giving the younger guys a run last year are certainly paying dividends now with the current team.

Harry is part of the development squad, but still trains with the main SG Ball squad once or twice a week as far as I know.

Sou is on the bench this week i think.

I was told Kamuta & Grove were the two stand outs for wests in the 17s & 18s development game against the Dogs last week. With Kamuta scoring a try. Thats good to know Kamuta's been pulled back up to the SG Ball. if Grove is training once to twice a week will the SG Ball dose that mean he can get pulled up to play?

Also i hear rumors Kitt hurt his ankle?
