I love the fact he is coming back but some of the calls stating he should be in our 17 is concerning. Will be great for team morale and nurturing the halves but if he is playing first grade, we aren't making the 8 in my opinion.

I'm excited because Marshall is a fine footballer and a very decent man. His nurturing of Brooks and Lolohea will be the making of them. I see a lot of Marshall in Lolohea.

Better than what we've had since he left . Welcome back Benjii.
Hopefully he learnt a bit from playing for Bennett.
May be rocks or diamonds, but that's better than rocks and rocks.

Now when can I get my membership for 2018 for 2 Tiger tragics from Newcastle??? (Me & brother in law)
Yee Haa…I'm excited!!!

See...signing worked already. 2 new members joining up. First time since 2013.

This opens the door for a lot of possibilities

1\. Lolo
3\. Marshall
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks

1\. Benji
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
14\. Lolo

1\. Lolo
6\. Reynolds
7\. Marshall

6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
14\. Marshall

Let the off season battle for spots begin.

Reynolds can play hooker, so throw that into your calculations as well. You could move Marshall to 5/8th and Reynolds to hooker to give Liddle a rest.

He doesn't need a rest, the season hasn't started yet.

With Benji in the team we will always be a chance of winning, something we havent had since he left

The only other good news i want today is us winning..

Words cant describe how happy im that Benji is coming home

I cant thank the club enough for bringing him back..

Fitting end..
Im sure we will stand divided on this forum with this news ..

He puts Brooks to shame any day

So he should - he is 10 years older.

One starting their career and one ending it. Not a good comparison.

you cant say brooks is starting his career, he is well into it

Both players are inconsistent, Benji is a match winner and Brooks is far from it at the moment

If anything his lack of direction in attack is costing us wins

Im happy that he is here only for depth. I dont really want to see him starting. I've never been a big fan. Too hit or miss for me.

"Never been a big fan"??????

For a player who was the best in the world for a number of years and the best player we have ever had.

Wow!!

:brick: :brick:

Why didn't the tigers keep Moses, Martin or Austin?

Moses = Cry Baby
Austin = didnt have the chance to crack it full time in the FG squad
Martin = Same as above

If we didnt have the suki lala Moses, Martin and Austin would have had a fair shot..

Anyone think the grub to play 9??

I think that Reynolds started his career in the NRL as a number 9.

Hey Maxxy86 - I am with you on Reynolds at 9 and have been saying it since we announced him. I can see him fit that role very well (actually I see him better as a 9 than a 6) and got really excited when the talk of Watson was going around as I could see him take the 6 spot. Now I'm not sure who might play 6, whether Benji's still got the legs, maybe not - anyhow Reynolds at 9 certainly is worth considering.

For everyone talking about Reynolds at number 9 - he debuted his NRL career at hooker against Canberra 2011.

The second bit to fall into place is that Tyson Gamble was officially announced around the same time that Benji and Ivan met in Queensland. Tyson also plays with Benji at Redcliff in Qld. I reckon that Benji recommended Tyson.

Third bit of the pieces is that both Benji and Gamble can both kick goals.

I reckon with the Benji announcement the spine starts to fall into place.

1\. Lolohea / Benji
6\. Gamble / Benji
7\. Brooks
9\. Reynolds

Benji can also fill at inside centre with Suli.

I think that our kickers for 2018 are accounted for.

Just watching an ISC Cup match in Brisbane and I am impressed with Brodie Croft at half back - unfortunately he is expected to replace Cooper next year at Melbourne next year.

We don't need to carry two hookers next year if Benji comes off the bench..Renyolds to dummy half if liddle is tired and obviously he could just about cover all other positions….even in his twilight years, Benji will have still have the best hands in the team..can you imagine to ball he'll deliver to the young guns, in Suli,Masters and Lolo..the problem with both Brooks and Renyolds..they don't have the skill to deliver the magic ball like Marshall can or the other great halves..only Lolo is knocking on that door, watch him and Benji read the play.

I wouldn't mind seeing Brooks tried at 9.

Brooks and Reynolds are both arm grabbers in defence. Either of them would be a disaster at 9.

Reynolds is just as likely to come up with a shoulder charge, spear tackle, clothes hanger or just trip them over. Or he might jump up from behind the play the ball, ankle tap the dummy half and get ten in the bin. His defence is like a box of chocolates. Never know what you're going to get.

Don't know how many times this needs to be said, Moses didn't want to stay, he had a contract in front of him for ages and he didn't sign and ultimately, he showed who he really was when the contract was withdrawn and he sooked and dogged it for us.

As for Austin and Martin, unfortunately, the club tried to show loyalty to Moses and well…...see above. The club was doing the right thing by Austin and Martin who both wanted first grade spots.
