Chris McQueen signs - Official

Good signing 80 minute edge back rower we need desperately. I suspect Moses release may see him start this year if the Titans continue to struggle and are no chance of finals footy.

Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that Chris McQueen will be joining the club for the 2018 NRL season.

The new agreement will see McQueen join Wests Tigers until the end of the 2020 season.

Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary said that he looked forward to having McQueen join the club at the end of the year.

“I’m really looking forward to having Chris on board for the next three seasons,” he said, “Not only does he bring plenty of experience with him, he is also an extremely consistent player.

“It’s clear that Chris has greatly helped the Titans’ young players develop on and off the field in the past few years, and that will no doubt be a strong asset at this club too.

“Knowing how hard Chris works and how team-focussed he is, I’m sure it won’t take long for Wests Tigers Members and fans to really appreciate him and regard him as a fan-favourite,” said Cleary.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe also welcomed McQueen to the club.

“Chris is a player of high calibre and will no doubt be a strong asset to our Club,” he said. “Not only is he an experienced representative player, he is also a great person off the field and possesses the attributes that we value highly at this club.

“I’m sure that Wests Tigers Members and fans will be excited by the addition of Chris to our team from 2018 onwards,” said Pascoe. “It’s a really positive sign for Wests Tigers and our roster moving forward.”

McQueen has played 145 games since making his debut for the Rabbitohs in 2009 and won a Premiership with the team in 2014\. He has been with the Gold Coast Titans for the last two seasons. The 30 year old has played six State of Origin games for Queensland and was a part of the Prime Minister’s XIII teams in 2011 and 2015, as well as the 2017 All Stars match earlier this year.

McQueen will join Wests Tigers for the 2018 pre-season.

^ Exactly. Whats killed us in last 2-4 years is that we dont have 80 minute 2nd rowers. 11,12 and 13 need to play the full gane so we can have 3 big boppers on bench rotating more frequently..

Chris has played 30 games for the Titans and has scored 10 tries. That is a pretty great strike rate for a back rower

Don't think that signing solves any deficiencies in the backrow other than experience

Doesn't require an interchange SG, so gotta be a plus, even if I have to look at his neck tattoos.

Still no update o n this one so I would assume he is not coming.. Really wanted him here though.
With all the stuff this club is going through they could at least let there fans know if its happening or not.
We deserve something after what we have put up with..

Don't jump to conclusions just yet. It just makes the rumour mill continue to swirl.

I'll jump to the conclusion and say he's not coming and the tigers used their option once Cleary was signed to pull the contract.
