Club Statement - Tedesco and Woods

Don't know if the fans will forget in a couple of weeks, suppose it depends on how they play.

Bad form today….They have hid behind their managers for months now, how hard is it to say, sorry guys, we have signed elsewhere for next year....

I hope they live to regret it...Could have been part of a wonderful era for the club...oh well

Wood$ in particular will be targeted on Sunday....Lets see how he handles that

Wonderful era??????? Has to be the statement of the year. :roll
Aaaarrrrgggh ain't dreams wonderful :crazy

The thing that gets me the most is that in all my years following footy i havent seen players conduct themselves so bad like these two. To publicly bag your club, your teammates and then to not even respond to a deadline. Seriously has any other player acted with such arrogance and contempt to their team when leaving. They are at another level these 2\. Good riddance to woods and tedesco. Hope those knees hold up teddy. I honestly cant wait to play the dogs next year. Hopefully we have mautilino and packer and they smash the crap out of him.

We did everything we could to keep James Tedesco and Aaron Woods: Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe

APRIL 21 2017 - 8:00PM

Wests Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe insists the club did everything in its power to retain James Tedesco and Aaron Woods.

The Tigers are disappointed the superstar duo didn't take up the lucrative four-year contracts offered to them, failing to notify the Tigers of their intention before the Friday, 5pm deadline imposed on the pair during the week. Woods is bound for Canterbury, while Tedesco is set to sign with the Sydney Roosters for next season – leaving Luke Brooks as the sole survivor of the "big four" following Mitchell Moses' decision to sign with Parramatta.

"I'm really comfortable that we afforded them every opportunity to stay here," Pascoe said of Woods and Tedesco. "We can always learn from the way we do things. It's been a challenging time for all involved. These things take time. Throughout any negotiations there's a lot of going back and forth. But we're really comfortable with the fact that we afforded the players every opportunity that we could to stay at the club.

"We respect their decision and they'll continue to play with the heart they've played with for this organisation for some time now for the rest of the season."

The defection of their three biggest names leaves the Tigers with close to a $4 million war chest to spend next year, with Josh Reynolds high on their list after learning Gareth Widdop is set to re-sign at the Dragons.

The club is hopeful Ben Matulino and Russell Packer will add some mongrel to a pack that will be without Woods next year, excited about the prospect of finally overcoming what has seemed like a never-ending battle with salary cap restraints.

"The club is in a really exciting position," Pascoe said. "We've had years and years of salary cap challenges. We believe we've built some really robust processes to make sure that doesn't happen in the future. [In] 2018, there's a lot of freedom around our salary cap.

"For the first time in probably the club's 17-year history, we enter a market that has nearly 200 players on the market with a freed-up salary cap and significant amount of power to help build this club's roster into a strong football team."

The decision to impose a deadline on Woods and Tedesco was designed to give the club more time to move in the player market in the event the pair decided to leave the Tigers.

Pascoe stands by the decision to set a deadline and believes it was made in the interest of both the club and the players.

"The intent and motivation behind that was to place some certainty, not only for the club but for the players as well," Pascoe said. "That deadline passed today at 5pm and as a result of not receiving official confirmation from the players' manager, the club has decided to withdraw the current contract offers in place.

"Both James and Aaron and their manager have been really engaging throughout the process. This has been a really challenging time for all parties. It's gone a long time and certainly with regret that it has gone on for so long. But these are really tough decisions for any player who has been at a club for a long time.

"Whether we like it or not, it is a business today and the players have been going through the process of making a decision that is in the best interest of themselves and their families.

"We have the utmost respect for that and for them in doing that. Imposing the deadline, that creates certainty so that we can make decisions in the best interest of the club and the club first. We will always act in the best interests of the club."

We were played people big time.

The boys had no intention of re-signing but rather than coming out with respect and tell the club this will be my last season ala Cooper Cronk - our boys strung us along purely as leverage to maximise their eventual earnings. Even at the expense of team performance due to constant speculation.

I say it again - good riddence.

Knock the club all you want, but ill give them credit for bringing this to ahead.

Spot on Ken

Low grubs they are , don't want to see Moses , Woods or Tede$co in a Wests Tigers Jersey again , don't care about even trying to make the 8 this year as they stuffed it up before a ball was kicked off ( behind the scenes ).

I would say to Cleary stick the players that you might want to see how they go in 1st Grade and drop these turds to Reserve Grade .
Our Club Captain makes me sick we seriously need to drop him as Captain as his disrespected the Club by not even doing the courteous thing and respect the deadline and at the very least make them aware for yourself .
Ayoub and Isacc Moses have alot of similarities they have there own interest at heart and foremost.

Lots of class and professionalism from the club. It's the shame the players couldn't show the same level of integrity.

The positive points to me are:-

1\. I and the rest of us fans can treat these traitors with absolute contempt. They have treated the club like dirt and deserve nothing but the same in return.
2\. We do have some money to spend now and hopefully we buy players that have some integrity and class.

Why is it everytime someone types Tede$co, it turns into a $?

Surely that can be fixed, that is bloody poor form by whoever makes the site do that. We dont all have that opinion…... That sort of censorship is a disgrace.

No its great leave it on mods. I wish you both poor form and failure at your new clubs. Too not even inform the club. I reckon we bombard tigers management with emails to not see these guys again in first grade for our club.

Thats your opinion. Why should i be forced to have the same?
Type the $$$ if you want to. Thats fine.
I dont want to. Simple.

We have Packer as well now! A good pick up.

I'll say this. Woods and Tedesco failing to notify the club of their decision is as disrespectful as it gets. Their character has shone through the last 6 weeks. Especially woods. As a club who's brought them through and afforded them every opportunity to prosper and be leaders they have shown no kind of leadership what so ever and then they have the nerve to sit there and question why they haven't played finals. If this is the character and leadership that these 2 possess then it's little wonder this team isn't competing in September.

Don't want to watch these Turds play again with us but at the same time wish to support the others.

So divisive they have divided me internally

Basically these guys have had contract offers on the table 6/7 months and news.com wants to spin this as Moses had no contact re wood$$$$ from the club in the last month.

These three have done more damage to the club then any other event in the clubs history.

Love to hear the stories there families must have been spun.

AARON Wood$’ appearance at a coffee shop on Wednesday with Sunday’s opponents, otherwise known as Canterbury players, underlines the deep troubles at Wests Tigers.

Coach Ivan Cleary must be finally realising how deep the problems at his new club go.

A small revolt is happening at the Tigers. Wood$, James Tede$co and Mitch Mo$es are gone, Tim Grant and Kevin Naiqama are considering their options and several others are also questioning their future at the club.
Wood$ and the Skinny Flat White gang highlight how deep the frustration at the Tigers is.

While Cleary was putting deadlines on players Wood$ and Tede$co, Wood$ was speaking to his manager Isaac Mo$es who told him he had not heard from the club in regard to Wood$ in almost a month.
How is this any negotiation? And so why a deadline?

Was Cleary even aware?

The Tigers might have a plausible explanation for this but their refusal to communicate it is deeply damaging the club and adds to the reputation of dysfunction that is developing.

There is a smell on the Tigers.

Who would want to play there?

There is more at stake than playing talent now. From the outside looking in the Tigers appear a troubled club.

Once that assessment becomes popular opinion around the league it will become increasingly harder to recruit players. And the club is already clearly having problems.
Generally the only way clubs get their way out of trouble once in this situation is to go into the market hard and pay overs.

Either to one player, who hopefully others want to play alongside and so will help bring talent, or a group of players, which is highly expensive.

Enter Cooper Cronk, with Gareth Widdop as his sidekick.

The club has no other option.

That about sums up our club perfectly, it's about time that Go resigned , and we got a board that had a clue

Please… news.com.au is about as reputable as the Daily Mail... Whilst there may be issues at the club, i wouldn't be using news.com.au to support your argument...
