Lets hope you are right.
465k could be still massive overs in that time frame very easily.

Will be massive unders under a 9.5m cap. Roosters just have better players in the key positions. You pay for what someone is going to deliver not what they have done.

We'll see wont we? I remember having this same argument re: Broses.

I'm fine with Watson on that sort of money but only because we've paid Broses much more than that and they haven't performed close to that level.

Watson to me is worth a shot. I think he looks better than Broses ever have. Time will tell if it is wasted money.

Of course he's looked better. Very easy to look as good as he has playing in a side like the Roosters. Throw Brooks and Moses in the Roosters side and they'd look good too.

I think our halves will look better next year with a half decent forward pack. Its still a work in progress and we need some more forwards it wont really matter who you sign.

Well it's still a gamble imo, but 465k is a hell of a lot better than the reported 600k. Trust the media to blow things out of proportion!

Like Brooks and Moses when they were coming through, I think Watson is still a bit of an uncertainty. Sure he's had some decent games for the Roosters, but as one of the posts above mentioned, it's a lot easier to look good in a team like the Roosters, with rep level players around him. Even then I don't think he has stood out all that much to be considered a 'brilliant' player, but I guess time will tell. If he does end up here, I wish him all the best and hope to God he doesn't end up being another giant let down like Brooks.

Jimmy Smith on the BSB this morning says he's heard Watson will go to the knights because they've promised him the 5/8 position .

Channel 7 or BSB a hard choice to make if you are trying to decide which one is more reliable.

Im not too fussed. Ive seen enough of tui so far to feel that hed be adangerous fullback. He just needs to get to peak fitness and hel be dynamic.

Agree, Stryker. Watson won't reach his worth behind a pack that gets beaten.

A lot hinges on our new forwards standing up next year.

with the cap looking like it might be higher than expected, the Chooks may decide to upgrade his contract and keep him

They said $8.8m this morning on the BSB. I thought many clubs were banking on it being closer to $10m?

Correct CB. There will be a lot of pain for clubs at $8.8m. I can't understand how the Panthers could sign CHN and Dylan Edwards with the players already on their roster.

Should be able to change the thread title to OFFICIAL by end of next week.

Nice. Do you know $?

The scenario is complex but basically CW is on a min contract with roosters, they don't have cap space to upgrade him which is why he's seeking a release. Tigers have offered him 465k a season. Roosters have been scrambling to try and find cap space for 2018 to upgrade his deal but can't, one proposal been put to NRL has already been rejected. Roosters don't want to release him. And maybe still won't, but usually in these situations the player and manager wins.

I wonder what proposals the Roosters could possibly have to find cap space where there is none? I don't think I'd be surprised by the ridiculously creative accounting and politicking the Roosters would do as standard policy.

Well they have done it again to keep tupou. Fergo will probably resign in the coming weeks as well. Amazing how they manage all this. Have to be impressed by it

Agreed… We should be impressed with how the smart clubs manage their cap, not whine and complain "it aint fair".

Demand more from your club. Demand better financial management. Demand the ability for the WT to be an operation other players want to come to.

I dont see this kid as a deal breaker for the Tigers... Talent =Yes; Good Player = Not Yet.

Better players will come along if we are active at the right coffee shops!
